Paul van dyk's agency made the original flyer, not space..... hence space does not know who the special guest is.

Trust me i know...I live in miami i deal with it weekly...But Space has never let me down for WMC so im expecting a really big name...bigger than Morph and O'bir. Can't wait to see GO though!!

Alex MORPH is supposed to be playing @ Nocturnal same nite so I highly doubt it.

The party next door @ Nocturnal > Space.

kgracias.

no - i think he meant for saturday..

everyone is trying to guess the special guest.

Where is everyone getting the idea that it's going to be a "big" name? Just because it says special guests? I mean, don't get me wrong, for the sake of those attending I hope it is. I just think it's wishful thinking is all. Eddie Halliwell is in the states the week before, so that is the only big name I can imagine, unless it's somebody off another lineup. I can't imagine why they'd wanna keep something like that a secret though, with all the other parties happening on Saturday night. There's only three reasons why they would keep it unlisted:
#1 - It's an exlusive artist from Ultra. But nobody really fits? I don't know if anyone like TCM or IM would open up for PVD, or anybody else on that list, for that matter. Plus, as far as rumors go, the list of djs who like PVD is rather short.

#2 - It really is somebody huge, or cross-genre, or both... and they are trying to build the suspense before an actual huge surprise, or even going to keep it to themselves until the party. But that begs the question why. It wouldn't be a big deal if this was PVDs only night there, but with him playing the night before, I'd think you'd wanna guarantee the door by announcing it. I guess that PVD probably is able to pack it anyway though. Still, it's gotta be just a little frustrating to those who are trying to make up their minds.

#3 - It's somebody who's not a big draw, so they are trying to build excitement for the party by listing it as "special guests". This could apply to any number of djs out there including the Vandit artists like MORPH and O'Bir.

So which of those scenarios seems most likely? It sounds like everybody is hoping for #2, because #1 doesn't seem likely, and #3 would be a big disappointment to most.

#2 FTW!

Just so we can be clear, it is NOT space choosing to not announce it. I can guarantee they do NOT have a clue who Paul is bringing with him on that night. If they knew, they would not be allowed to tell but they would have a few people start spreading rumors. The artist in question is bigger than Filo and Peri in PVD's mind. Remember, PVD's agency made the first flyer for space to use.

It has got to be #2 mostly. If it is a really huge artist which I think it is, you would not want to let the public know in advance. It could cause a crowds to show up in droves ruining any chance to attempt to get in even with a presale. You would then be blaming space for announcing such a huge artist and making a crowd appear that was unmanageable.

The way it is now, everyone who took the gamble will get a "special" or not so special treat. Depends on your tastes.

To add to it, if it were an extremely big artist and the club advertised it, they would be paying a lot more than they are right now for the gig and your ticket prices would be sky high.

The best way to describe it, remember when Tiesto played as "The King" at some pool party 3 WMC's ago or something. The pool got him much cheaper by not announcing or letting rumor get out until the day of the show.

People still go to Ultra?

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Feb-26-2010 17:24:

I am just trying to think out of EVERYONE who could possibly play on Saturday.... that is most likely not playing throughout the week - and I can't come up with shit lol.

If it's special guests - and hes going to bring some live singers.... or if its an actual dj. who knows? i'm very curious to find out - but that still won't make me change my party. I mean.. solarstone.. nuff said!

The likelyhood of ever catching solarstone again - very slim. While if its some big artist pvd is bringing - i'm sure NY will bring him too.

Posted by trancension on Feb-26-2010 17:32:

They only gave PvD 50 minutes?

Why was that?

Posted by inhomerepair3 on Feb-26-2010 22:37:

He was scheduled to play longer...but for some reason when it was his time to come on Timberland and his protege came on. Ughhhh pissed me off...im pretty sure thats why hes not playing there this year. itll be a big name this is his way of getting back at them. Who knows i could be completely wrong lol

Posted by DPetey81 on Feb-26-2010 23:09:

I am hoping for the best for you guys. I just haven't heard one guess that makes absolutely any sense. Halliwell is the only bigger name I can think of that fits, and who is not scheduled anywhere else. So, if it's not him, and it truly is a "big" name, it would lead me to believe that it is somebody from another genre.

Dream Beamz: It seems unusual that a club would not know who is performing on any given night. Is this something that actually happens? I only ask because I really don't know. I've never heard of such a thing, and would never run my business in such a way.

Sidenote: Wantickets now clearly specifies "Main Room Only" and all other artist have been removed from the page for Friday night.

Well.... Why is SVD at a "vandit party??? No association.. 2ndly, Didn't armin release a track on Vandit many moons ago???? And as far as them playing together, things can always change Pat..

dude.. armin and pvd dont go together at all. pvd and svd atleast go together. pvd was the first one to ever really play svd productions before svd ever made it big back in 04 and 05. i cant believe you really think pvd is gonna bring armin along and possibly have armin outshine him. not saying that armin is better, cuz hes not, but its still a possibility that pvd will not risk. his egos too big.

I am 100% certain that happens. Actually happened here in Charlotte a week ago. But I know of other cases where it has happened in the past
