I agree! This is exciting! Now we just have to keep these shows comming!

Yep. Promoters & clubs have no more excuses. The people have spoken: we want trance and we want it now

Not to demean any other form of EDM, but just ask when was the last time a non-trance show sold out that fast @ Gryphon? And there was no established Friday night trance crowd that helped sell this out so fast. It was a new idea & market for Gryphon, who merely posted the event on TA & TNL and next thing you know tix are gone baby gone. Clubs that think outside the box like Gryphon did here will tap into a whole new market & make $$$

Now bring Markus, and he will sell out the club even faster

In all fairness....I would like to see a Miami club take on this challege as well. Friday night for me going all the way up to Hard Rock from Kendall is rough and an even worse drive home. So I think its only fair for the trance to be distrubuted between counties. Lets move past the fist pumping here ok! Hey, a girl can wish cant she

I hear ya on the drive, but it's quick by the expressway. Fridays in Miami has sucked for a while now, all open format and some house. Most house ventures on Fridays have not done well, and even the open formats are down lately. Yet no one in Miami switches it up. Maybe this event will open some minds

Working on a date for Markus already

Another reason Trance doesn't come around is that a lot of these guys are in Europe and Ibiza for the summer. Its a hell of a lot of money to fly these guys in for one night and then fly them back, thats at least $2,000 just in plane tickets if their coming from Ibiza plus the hotel and booking fees, it gets expensive real quick.

Sold out in 8 days to be exact. Sure it wasn't any of those guys, it was only the #4 ranked djs in the world

Posted by orTofnChiLd on May-09-2010 21:36:

so lets book em again

Awesome, you know what u r doing, Markus is a must

As for the Ibiza thing, no doubt that is an issue. But not that many trance DJs (other than the biggest names) have residencies there any longer, and they still come to the states during summer. You just have to book them when they are already scheduled to be on this side of the pond ...

I was giving you guys credit for a job well done, and using those guys as examples because some people claim unless it's Tiesto or PVD trance cannot sell here

As for the ranking, "in the world" is the operative statement. By most Miami peeps they would be ranked more like #400. If you would've polled 1000 clubgoers @ Space & Mansion the week before you started selling tix I guarantee you less than 50% would've known who A&B were, and less than 20% would've agreed with a #4 ranking, and less than 10% would've committed to attending this event.

In other words, great job with the booking & promotion

The thing is ... lots of the DJs we all love to see are in the states pretty often just in like NYC, Vegas or Cali... you guys have to coordinate around those dates to have them come to Miami..

But speaking of Markus. Markus is in Europe like once a week and lives in Miami. That's one guy that must have a hefty travel bill lol

Still are, but the price went up

Looking forward to Friday night. But I am listening to Ottaviani's ASOT 450 set in NYC (again for about the 20th time) and have to say I never get tired of it. He destroyed Space @ WMC & NYC for ASOT 450. ATM Ottaviani, Schulz & Emery are definitely top 3 & leveling every place they play at, so someone book em quick ...
