This thread was worth it for this post.

We certainly don't percieve it via a digital representation. Node points and gaps don't imply digital mate, they just imply that our perception isn't a one to one representation of the physical world. You can have node points and gaps in an analogue system quite easily.

Anyway, I'm bowing out of this thread. As amusing as it is to watch a whole bunch of people argue about stuff they just don't understand, I really have better things to do

which is analogous to what a digital system does. I never once said it was a digital system. And analog, by definition does not have gaps unless you are referring to subatomic structures but that is just stupid.

analog vs digital to softsynths vs hardware to who's best at physics.

you guys all make it far to difficult, just use what sounds better to your ears and wallet and get on with it, be happy!

It's like you guys talking about what steers better, BOEING or AIRBUS, you've never flown one nad you never will, so what's the use of discussing it? produce, share, review, be happy..... instead of wasting all that talent on useless topics......

Energy, and thus force, momentum and mass are products of packets of energy being transfered, 'quanta'. Electrons, indeed all subatomic particles have stepped states everywhere, and do not behave outside of these universal stepped states.

So for a Hydrogen atom to become a helium atom, an unchanging exchange of energy is required - that's why the sun burns as it does, thats how an atomic clock works - defined packets of energy are transfered.

The energy expelled as sound out of a string or an analogue circuit is the expression of packets energy quanta. Each quanta a fundamnetal 'size' according to Universal laws. A system may express greater amounts as a whole, but each transference at the particle level obeys these defined fixed sums.

So for me it's all digital

This is true and remote from all cover of falsehood.

Whatever is below is similar to that which is above. Through this the marvels of the work of one thing are procured and perfected.

Also, as all things are made from one, by the consideration of one, so all things were made from this one, by conjunction.

The father of it is the sun, the mother the moon.
The wind bore it in the womb. Its nurse is the earth, the mother of all perfection.
Its power is perfected.

If it is turned into earth,
Separate the earth from the fire, the subtle and thin from the crude and coarse, prudently, with modesty and wisdom.

This ascends from the earth into the sky and again descends from the sky to the earth, and receives the power and efficacy of things above and of things below.
By this means you will acquire the glory of the whole world, and so you will drive away all shadows and blindness.

For this by its fortitude snatches the palm from all other fortitude and power. For it is able to penetrate and subdue everything subtle and everything crude and hard.
By this means the world was founded

And hence the marvelous cojunctions of it and admirable effects, since this is the way by which these marvels may be brought about.

And because of this they have called me Hermes Tristmegistus since I have the three parts of the wisdom and Philosophy of the whole universe.

My speech is finished which I have spoken concerning the solar work.

The Secret of Hermes.

Well that pretty much summed up my thoughts too.

Pretty fucking beautiful setup, but by god you need to get better monitors for that equipment.

Posted by pozz on Jan-25-2011 04:27:

jbj hath cast a shitstorm on thee!

still, i like tape and drone music. nothing like a background hum, hissing, and moving mechanical parts to add to a warm piece.

Posted by Raphie on Jan-25-2011 08:22:

the logitec's are just for my pc AC97 card, on the outside of the pic you see just the edge of my MR824 MKII's which i still love
They translate really well in my room. while they are not considered high end they are very pleasant to listen to, not fatiqueing and they do have an excellent tight bass response

i tried Genelecs 8040's the other week and sent them back, too harsch on the highs and too tamed on the lows, looking for some 8050's now. my 2n SSL channel arrives hopefully next week.

But Rann if you have any other advice on 8" monitors in the same league is the 8050's
6" woofers are not an option

Posted by Storyteller on Jan-25-2011 09:25:

My next door neighbour has a fully treated room and makes a living out of music and music production. The only thing I don't envy him for is having are the mackies 824 (mk1), hehe. Oh, that and his very old protools soundcard.

Posted by Raphie on Jan-25-2011 16:33:

the MKII's are totally different from the MK1's though, different housing/bracing, amplifiers and passive radiator.

As i mentioned, did sent a pair of Genelecs 8040's back for them, now waiting on the 8050's also looking into some Quested.
But Dynaudio and Adam are too harsh for my ears and top end translates well atm. The budget is not really a problem, it's finding the right match.

Posted by Storyteller on Jan-25-2011 16:56:

I know this is very personal but you're the first I've ever seen using harsh and dynaudio in the same sentence . Oh well, who cares. Choices....

I am very sensitive in the 12-16K range, also hate too metallic sounds, nails on schoolboards, feeling of aluminum against fillings in your tooth, high pitched noises etc.

so i am a bit of a wierdo in that area.
