Hey guys,

considering coming from Montreal for this... I'm just a bit concerned about the waiting time to get back to the NYC when the party finishes at midnight ? Any of you had parties at the Gov Island ? How are they going to manage 6000+people coming back to NYC in water taxis at the same time ? Anyone ever went through that ? I have to leave after the party and would'nt want to be stick in there for 2-3 hours waiting for the water taxi...

thanks !

Yeah, I saw your post earlier and was also wondering if anyone was going to reply to you. I am curious about the departure situation, as well. I'm not a New Yorker, but I'm thinking they've never had an event like this on the island. So maybe the lack of response to your question is because nobody really knows. I'd say prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

EDIT: Nevermind, just checked and it looks like there has been concerts and stuff out there previously, soooo.............. anybody know how they handle everyone leaving at once?

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Jun-24-2011 01:39:

I don't know if I want to go anymore so I might have 2 tix to sell for PvD but I will know for sure next week - mid week.

Posted by trunks1022 on Jun-25-2011 00:37:

melly - i just caught myself wondering why the heck i'm going to pvd as well. but i guess i'll go just for the night out.

Also posted on their facebook page this message : To Dance.Here.Now.Festival organisator : Hi ! I'm considering coming for this, but I have a 7 hours drive; i'm just wondering about the logistics of returning to NYC when the party ends. What's your game plan to get all the people back at midnight ? How many boats will be waiting ? How long do you think the wait time will be ? I saw there has been other events on Gov island, so other can share too... Many thanks !

Hope someone answers... not taking the risk to go there if I don't have some an answer on this.

same goes for departure... FAQ says 1st boat leaves at 4PM and then every 15 min... how many boats at the same time ? From the NYC water taxi page, they have 10 boats of capacity varying from 75 to 150 persons... If I want to be sure to be there when PvD starts at 6PM I suppose, will I still be stuck in NYC waiting for a boat ???

Posted by trunks1022 on Jun-25-2011 03:26:

start paddling.

I think the best Friday night party is this:
"The Bunker" @Public Assembly in Brooklyn INFO
Ambivalent
JPLS
Kassem Mosse
Patrick Russel

.... or maybe this:
Steve Rachmad @Brooklyn TBA INFO

iam not familar with jersey ferry routes...but if any stop near the staten island ferry terminal or by the south street seaport than your pretty much there to catch the ferry to the island

as for arriving there at 8pm, i would assume most people will be at the festival already so it shouldnt be too much of a hassle
