Shrug, I danced to high energy music way before I did any drugs. I certainly don't think they're necassary (it makes dancing for over 2-3 hours much easier though) but they do push the music at events that feature them in the higher energy direction.

A nice vibe, lots of dancers and a great sound system is certainly one of the best ways to get into a new genre of music though. At the very least the lighting (as in how dark it is) can affect how much you appreciate different genres.

Also, is it just me or are sound systems at warehouse parties/raves usually way way better than the sound systems at clubs? To me most clubs seem to just be set up to sell alcohol and do I dunno what the fuck else. They usually don't care about the music.

Yeah, so did I. It's just not as much fun. I don't know why anyone would pretend otherwise.

There's a lot to be said that it pushes music in a certain direction. Gimmicky crap like electro house sounds good while drunk, high tempo stuff sounds good on most drugs like e, acid, shrooms speed etc. It's certainly possible to enjoy practically anything while drunk/sober/on most things but certain things are more suited for certain states. I dunno, "drugs+music" probably needs a new thread. I'd love it if you started one though if you can't be bothered I will but I tend to be not so good at writing long stuff about complicated subjects.

since there was a lot of trance listed here are some other genre stuff that i think are masterpieces of electronic music:

You know it's been a while since I've been on here, Trance music has declined in quality for many years now, I've had to shift my listening to other sub genres as the Trance scene now is flooded with so much garbage and has been cross bred with other genres like dubstep but this track has truly pricked my ears up. Track is called The Fourth Dimension by M8 pres El Diablo, heard it on a album called Trance Classics 2013, odd album. I can't find any info of this producer anywhere, not even on youtube, only sample I could find for you guys is http://www.beatport.com/search?quer...ourth+Dimension
You have to listen to it from the start, full of energy and uplifting, haven't had goose bumps like this for quite a while.

I suppose it would be redundant to point out that this thread is pretty much a masterpiece circle-jerking travesty of itself. Very few tracks posted in here even come close to qualifying as a "masterpiece", they are derivatives, not originals of their kind. Masterpiece status is achieved when there are pioneering elements present or when there is an unprecedentedly unique representation of something already explored -- not tracks that quintessentially represent what you like.

This is just another "favorites" thread.

Any of these tracks from Kraftwerk could be masterpiece nominated:

This is what I call a great track, just as fresh as ever all these years later:

I always knew 'Acid Eiffel' is considered a classic but I don't think I ever properly listened to it until recently. Fucking incredible track. The way the strings and the acid line work together is out of this world.
