If thats cheese and mainstream then what the fuck are you listening to. He played one mainstream track up until 3. You come on here and give a bogus review
For people who didnt go. It was an open to close set, you were in bed while he was just getting going.

Posted by DaveT on Jan-02-2013 07:26:

I love Markus and have known him for 10 years, but, ISOS4, your defense is rather pathetic. At least puts some constructive thought in your response.

Hate people who respond with pathetic bashing. Ya only osund like a douche in the end. Not saying you are, but you haver to do better than this...

we all had a pretty good time. got in just before 10. My favorite DJ played all friggin night , playing shit I like, so no complaints from me. I heard few vocals I think, yay! and as we were trying to leave around 6:30, Markus roped me in, and my watch said 7:50 when I was in a cab. Markus was definitely getting sicker after 5 or 6. Had we not left, I'm sure we would have stayed til 9:30/10 and closed it down. Not a problem except I had to check out the hotel and get a few hrs sleep before my flight back!

So, consideingr we weren't even planning on going and decided completely last minute to change out plans...*thumbs up*

Posted by modthispny on Jan-02-2013 16:32:

i heard he played classic rock recons after i left..cant wait to look at my videos now and relive the night again.

Posted by modthispny on Jan-02-2013 16:50:

i know i've already said this a few times in this thread already, and i've seen markus almost 30 times by now, the beginning of the set (1130 - 230ish 3) may have been cheesy to some, when i say cheese, im not talking about vocals, but playing trousy tracks, and also normal peak-time tunes that markus plays.

in the 30x times ive seen him, he has never played such an underground style, techno, twisted, whatever you want to call it. and it wasn't just one or two songs, majority of his songs after 3 am were wicked.

im sure the world tour episode will be from 12-2, which will leave some dissapointed, i really hope we get to hear the after hours part of his set one day, you will really appreciate him as a dj MUCH more and won't call his set 'cheese'.

i left around 730 ish 8 because it was getting way too cold, should have brought a jacket with me.

Got in around 10:20 and stayed until the end. To me, Markus played how I guessed it would be - most of his newer Scream productions and some commercial sounding stuff (like Otto Knows - Million Voices) until 4. Pretty much sounded like his World Tour sets from GDJB to me. Even though I am not really into a lot of the newer productions (2003 - 2005 Markus productions are my favorite) and banging anthem sounding stuff, I was REALLY amazed how much energy Markus had all the way until the end. He played Without You Near Afterhours Mix as we predicted. Seemed like he was really having a blast the whole night and that's what kept me going. That and a couple of Red Bulls. I didn't think I could last but when I heard him play that remix of the Doors - The End, I knew the end was near I thought Digweed Avalon's NYE show was crazy when he played from midnight to 9:45ish(?) but this was definitely the longest I've ever stayed at any EDM event.

Here's some of the videos I took that long night, change to 1080p for best picture ->

Happy New Year!

Bobina - Pune

My favorite track of the night - Danny Tengalia - Be Yourself (Markus Schulz Big Room Reconstruction)

The end

Cheese? wtf? I didn't hear any cheese. Do the complainers like trance? Seems like anything uplifting with vocals is classified as cheese by a few. Cheese is Dash Berlin, George Acosta etc. He said earlier this year he was moving back in the direction of trance and away from that pitch bend crap. Thank god IMO. And its NYE. Keep things a little more upbeat. And listen to his newest artist album. All vocals. Suprise! He played some vocals duh! If you want to hear gridhouse shit, why were you at Markus (all though I think he did play that lol)? There were better events do be at like Exchange or maybe an underground.

What part of the beginning are people complaining about? The first 2 hours or so was sexy, dark progressive. I loved it. Hell, I loved the entire night except for about an hour when he went too dark/hard.

A person shouldn't expect to wait several hours to hear stuff they like. Especially if the first part of the set is just off-base and completely different from what they expected (and not in a good way) going by the DJ's past.

No. They should know how the DJ is currently playing and NYE was very consistent with what I have been hearing on the GDJB World Tour. If the DJ didn't play what you want, then chances are, you were at the wrong event. Not saying DJs don't have off nights but this wasn't one of them. I haven't heard any of the "unicorn slayer" language from the Markus camp in a while so I don't think you should be expecting that type of music from him.

And are people really complaining about the crowd? Well dressed, polite. Hmm...? I would take that crowd anytime X1000 over the normal Avalon crack den washer crowd. The trannys still scare the shit out of me and they were out in full force ha ha.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I FUCKEN LOVE YOUR CAMERA. lol

The longest I've stayed out for an EDM event was for Ferry Corsten & PVD at Space in Miami. He played on the main room until after 12 noon. Literally it was just Sweet Candy Girl, a couple of other people and me left. Than Ferry got on the Mic and invited all of us to go to the roof top to see Sander Kleinenberg play. It couldn't hang anymore and I finally left.

Would have been cool to see you there like the old Digweed NYE days.

Tell me about it. Now that I see a lot of old friends went, I kinda regret not going. I really wanted to go to see Sasha, but my wife got really sick plus it was freakin' cold and I really didn't feel like dealing with the crowds.

That is cheese. I'm not sure you know what cheese comprises of. That along with that trouse garbage are turning trance into a fucking joke

Quit sure I do but lets hear your definition of it since you are the one throwing the word around. I hate cheese as much as anybody. I'll agree with you on the the trouse and trancestep or whatever people call trance with dubstep in it. HATE HATE HATE that crap.

i'm guessing he thinks nothing without you, deep in the night, etc, are all cheese.

Posted by Durrrtysouth on Jan-02-2013 22:31:

Wow!

What a night. So glad I went.

Man With A Red Face

Grindhouse

And he ended with The Doors- The End and then U2- New Years Day.

He played a bit more commercial stuff around midnight, but the people I were with really loved it and I think he read the crowd perfectly.

at work and will jump in with my thoughts in a bit, but anyone know this ID? he dropped this song during the peaktime part of the set, and i was keeping an ear out to see if i could hear anything that might sound like his new collaboration with armin on the new asot 600 theme, this one caught my ear for some reason. i dunno. not sure i even like it, so i hope it's not the collab haha

edit: i meant asot 600 theme, not transmission theme. derp.

haha yeah i remember asking you about this one when he was playing it. was this the one you thought was a new klauss goulart?

we left at about 7:30, my friends were completely destroyed (i started drinking again when the bar opened back up at 6:00 so i was okay, hahaha). really disappointed i didn't get to stay for the end, that's always my favorite part of his sets.

i think woody or dave alluded to it earlier in the thread but to me, a 13 hr set is too much. i think markus may have been looping the intro/outro of some of the tracks for longer mixes between tracks... although i enjoy long mixes it wasn't really working for me. then again, maybe i was just drunk
