Let's just forget about modern medicine too. Put people with those diets in modern time and they'd absolutely outlive most people today.

Eating processed shite is the reason why perfectly healthy looking 45 year olds drop dead from massive heart attacks. The bad carbs damage your blood vessels (since it's unnatural to consume them, kind of like ingesting a foreign body), causing stenosis, and then the LDL that would normally pass right on through gets stuck to the swollen and hardened arteries. It's really not UTTERLY LAUGHABLE or hard to understand at all.

It's also why nobody gave a shit about cholesterol and saturated fat 60 years ago, and rates of heart disease and other cardiovascular illness were no higher than they are today.

33.. paleolithic life expectancy

Which means that in order for that species to survive, they need to reproduce quick, mature quick etc. So no reason why they need to live much past 33 in order to spread their genes.

Think about it. I don't think much has changed with regards to life expectancy in our genus to be honest. We are able to EXTEND our lifespan because of diet, medicine etc. but we still see the exponential aging after the age of 40 or so. Women aren't very viable after 35 etc.

A prolonged life expectancy would have to be a desired trait. there hasn't been much time that has passed from when we haven't been running from other species tribes or animals to rest and take our time for reproduction.

The protected species theory states that animals who aren't in danger of intraspecie competition or interspecie predation tend to live prolonged live cycles (turtles birds bats, sharks)

So end result, your theory doesnt make sense and if you have a case for it, provide some peer reviewed studies to show.

omg, is he just spouting that shit off the cuff? No sources or anything at all other than, "I like how this sounds"?

It's common sense. You don't need peer reviewed studies to see the massive amount of money that's having to be spent on health care for things like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes, and the list goes on.

Forget the paleolithic period, think about 50 years ago. Before the popularity of high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils as preservatives, and food designed by chemists, not by nature. You don't have to be a scientist to see that all of that is not meant for consumption by humans.

There's quite a few articles I've read that even surmise that many doctors are now saying things like high cholesterol and hypertension are only loosely related to consumption of high fat food. When you take the fat out of something you replace it with unnatural chemicals to enhance the flavor (because fat tastes good) and those chemicals are worse for you than the fat is in the first place.

You're also completely ignoring the fact that HEALTH CARE DIDN'T EXIST in paleolithic times. What do you think the average life span would be now without all of the medication people swallow blindly so that they can continue eating garbage. It's not a coincidence that of the top pharmaceuticals sold in the US every year, a cholesterol lowering medication (Crestor) is number 4, and a heart burn medication is number 2.

If people ate the things that people eat now in the paleolithic period their life span would probably be 15. They'd have no energy to go out and hunt, or they'd be too fat to do it. Try it for a week or two and try to tell me you don't feel markedly better. Your mood is lifted, you have more energy, you sleep better. The proof is in actually doing it.

Posted by DJ RANN on Jun-29-2013 21:54:

Good god russell, just stop. It's embaressing.

Why do you have to pretend to eat like a fucking cave dweller just to survive.

It's not finite; you don't have to go back to neolithic methods to eat healthily - just avoid unprocessed foods, and eat normal portions of vegetables/meats/fuits/etc where you know the provenance.

It's really not that difficult and you don't have to make the whole thing so gay by discussing diets.

Same with fat people. They're always complaining about "diets" and bad thyroids and unlucky genes.

Really? have someone that weighs 300lbs+ write down what they consume in a day. Now tally that against how often they walk, run or do anything physical.

This isn't fucking rocket science eat balanced, don't eat shit and get off your fat arse.

Grown men talking about diets is fucking depressing.

He's not even in good shape, either.

Posted by Syntonic on Jun-29-2013 22:36:

I will partially take Rusty's side in that if you look at kids today and even people between 25-35 are getting really shitty sicknesses like cancer and diabetes. It's all because we outsourced our food to people wearing lab coats, and the government subsidizes the shittiest calories. No subsidies go to fruits and vegetables because healthy people don't provide business opportunity. This is why obesity is now an offical disease. What a new low...

How you look isn't absolute to health. I talk to many people who have life threatening conditions with great physiques, it all boils down to genetics.

Posted by OrangestO on Jun-29-2013 22:38:

He doesn't even lift, though.

Posted by Syntonic on Jun-29-2013 22:57:

Again, what matters is all on the inside. Having a health circulatory system trumps muscles. I'll take a strong heart and lungs any day. His seemingly corpulent stature would actually benefit him in a survival situation as his metabolism isn't as expensive to generate heat which is another kind of endurance.

He doesn't even know what I look like. He's just talking shit.

Posted by Lews on Jun-29-2013 23:22:

I wonder how well one would survive only on potatoes. Stephen, you got any opinion on the matter?

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-29-2013 23:29:

Probably not as well as someone surviving only on semen.

Posted by Sushipunk on Jun-29-2013 23:35:

Chill guys, keep it on topic please.

Posted by Lews on Jun-29-2013 23:40:

Perhaps if I was gay that would be insulting, but I'm sorry to disappoint. You actually are a potato-muncher, though. Remind me, how many of your family members died in the famine? Apparently potatoes aren't enough, after all. Maybe if they had some bread they would have made it.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-29-2013 23:53:

That's really not bothersome at all. You do realize that happened almost 300 years ago right? Do you know what your family was doing 300 years ago?

Posted by Lews on Jun-29-2013 23:55:

I know exactly what my family was doing. And we were doing much better than your family was.

Your the one who seems to hate the British for what they did to you, not me.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-29-2013 23:56:

You're*

You're all over the place bud. The british had nothing to do with the potato famine obviously. The famine didn't kill the entirety of the Irish population, so you really have no clue if it affected my family or not, nor do you have any idea if your family was doing better than my family 300 years ago. And the British didn't do anything to me or my family personally, they did it to my country.

If you're going to try and be insulting at least make it a bit less limp-wristed (oh how appropriate).

Posted by Lews on Jun-30-2013 00:00:

If I really wanted to, I'd go back and find your posts where you cry about the famine and the British and all sorts of other things, but I don't give a shit. Please continue telling me how little you care about the past, though.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-30-2013 00:02:

...I wasn't telling you how little I care about the past. I've also never "cried" about the famine before, so be my guest to waste your time searching for that.

Posted by Lews on Jun-30-2013 00:04:

You literally just said you don't care about what happened 300 years ago.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-30-2013 00:10:

Actually I said your faggy little attempt at an insult didn't bother me. I didn't say I didn't care about what happened 300 years ago. But I guess if you use the term "literally" as in "you literally didn't say this at all" then yeah.

Posted by Lews on Jun-30-2013 00:11:

Insult? If I wanted to insult you I'd just call you a bogtrotter and move on. I was trying to talk about the importance of balanced diets.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-30-2013 00:14:

You're getting more feeble by the minute.
