the more i look at that replay the more its evident that italian player just let himself fall while trying to give a kick to zidane.

he could've stayed on his feet and take it like a man... but nah... pansies i tell ya.

It's rumored that Materazzi called out racist remarks towards Zidane's Algerian background.

But whatever was said was probably personal and Materazzi should also be given a fine for it.

whatever dude. if u headbutted me in extra time in the world cup id drop too. my mentality would not be "hey he just head butt me im gonna stand up and fight him like a man" my mentality would be "hey its the world cup if i drop this guy is getting booted out". see zidane was thinking with his pride and materazzi was thinking with his head.

lol thats pushing it a little there.

he might've over-exaggerated the initial injury but you could easily tell that Zidane's headbutt sweeps Materazzi right off his feet.

believe me Id be the first to defend him but that was nothing but pure unprofessionalism. it takes more guts to walk away and shame him with a goal. wait for him in the parking lot after the game or something ffs.

Was a brilliant game, Cheeky chip by zidane for the penalty, i can't believe he actually tried it, Italy's Golden boy Totti, yet another disappointing Tournament.

Canavarro deserved the trophy, the only italian player i could stand.

Zidane is in the wrong.

What any player does after Zidane does that is irrelevant, I think Zidane is a master and the best of a class of people that transcend not just their sport, but all sports.

However he lost it, and he is wrong. Just like Tyson did when he chomped on that guys ear. It strange beyond anything.

And to say that speculation is.....BLAH BLAH BLAH...whatever it is that Materazzi did MUST HAVE BEEN BAD....who cares, its done. Try watching a men's league game in Scarborough...shit like that happens all the time.

Zidane's infraction was even worse than Rooney against Ronaldo. At least in that case, Ronaldo physically got in Rooney's face. Zidane just had to deal with words.

Apparantly this isn't the first time Zidane has had an outburst. Apparantly he stomped on a Saudi Arabian player while he was down.

I don't really care if zidane was right or wrong, since I don't (and probably never will) know what was said to him, but all I wanna say is that headbutt was the most beautiful thing I've seen in this whole world cup. I love that ytmnd link.

While I don't particularly like how the final ended with PKs, it would have been a lucky win regardless of who won. Blaming Italy for being lucky is retarded. Luck or no luck, they won, and played well. There's an element of luck in all sports, and that's what makes it a little more exciting to watch (if you don't believe me, watch a chess match - no luck there).
