Well, I can only speculate upon the precise sequence of events, but most likely at some point in my past my brain drew a connection between darker hair and sexuality: a subconscious association which subsequently manifests itself along with innumerable other factors in my attraction or the lack thereof towards a woman.

Now I'm not opposed to the idea that you prefer certain religious beliefs for a similar reason: you've already made it clear that you were raised in a religious environment so there was plenty of opportunity for you to make similar associations between those beliefs and feelings of purpose, security, et cetera.

If that was the case I obviously can't blame you for making the choice that you did, even if I think it was the ultimately less fulfilling one.

I share the same belief as TTA. What it boils down to, imo, is: to each their own. It is much of our own decision b/c God gave us the right to choose. People will always think they're right (denial or not), the question is whether when the time come they think God will slam heaven's gate in their face
