Makaay is fit again and Pizzaro may also be able to play against Chelsea. Any one want to take Bayern 2-0 Chelsea bet?

Juv vs Liverpool
2 - 0

Bayern vs Chelsea

2 - 2

That's how i see it ending up.

Gerard is out for sure tomorrow according to soccernet's website

Gerrard + Maka for that defensive midfield spot.

Ashley Cole + Wayne Bridge for the left back.

indeed gatusso is a very good choice and he did state a couple of weeks ago that he would love to come to old trafford, whether or not that happens is a different story.

Having 2 players in the likes of gerrard and makelele competing for the same spot would cause a dispute since both are world class players and not just internationals and neither would like the idea of being on the bench. Cole and Bridge is a different story because Bridge is not a sure starter for either England or Chelsea as at stamford bridge he has the likes of Gallas to compete with not to mention terry, carvalho and ferreira so itl be interesting to see who makes way should cole come in.

Shevchenko coming to chelsea??? i dont see it happening. There are three things a superstar player demands - money, a guaranteed starting spot and trophies and as much as I hate to admit it, Milan offer all three. Im not complaining though, id hate to see sheva come to chelski.

And we're off to another great match day...

Inter Milan vs AC Milan (Adriano's back!)
Chelsea vs Bayern Munic

Posted by Yohan on Apr-12-2005 21:11:

Match Day 10
Bayern Munich 3 - 2 Chelsea
-Bayern misses couple of really good chances to get back in tie and Frank Lampard, he who should be worshipped because he's damn so good, puts Chelsea up 1-0. Ballack misses an awesome chance to equalize near the end of first half.
Second half, Bayern goes slow, but after a Willy Sagnol cross that Ballack met was saved by Cech, but Pizarro is near for tap in. Bayern then barely missed going ahead when Eidur Gudjonsen clears a Makaay header off the line, which would have set Bayern on fire. Duff forces a magnificent save from Kahn on the other end, but Drogba meets a Joe Cole cross to put Chelsea up 2-1. Substitutes Guerrero and Scholl scores on 90th min, but it's too late as Chelsea goes through 6-5 on aggregate.

AC Milan 1-0 Inter Milan (Match suspended)
-I didn't see the match, but apparently Inter missed some chances, and Shevchenko scores. Match turns ugly as some Inter hooligans started to toss flares and garbage to pitch, with one flare hitting Milan keeper Dida on shoulder. Ref suspends the match.
Inter is bound to get penalized by UEFA for this.
AC Milan leads aggregate 3-0

WTF happend in Milan today???

Can I have your impressions, I didn't have time to watch the game, I only caught the end of the free falling flare show.

&*)%$@)%!@$)%^@#% exams

the ref disallows Inter's goal, by Cambiasso, in 73rd minute...and the fans go crazy....as i did too, cuz i like Inter...they needed to score 3 goals and they only had 20 mins to do that, so the fans were more frustrated about inter getting knocked out, than by the disallowed goal

Inter had more chances, but due to horrible finishing, some horrible first half tactics by Mancini (playing 1 striker when ur 2-0 down on aggregate, and playing c. zanetti, and van der meyde.....who r possibly the most useless midfielders and aging killy gonzalez, and the fact that AC milan play gay, they end up with no trophies yet again....

u mean the finals

psv/lyon dont stand a chance... although id be over the moon if they beat you ******s

well lads, looks like its probably going to be a chelsea - milan final and in all fairness it couldnt get better than that ... although i despise both teams you have to say theres going to be one hell of a game in Istanbul come May 25.

I cant get over what Inter did today .... football in Italy is really getting out of hands ... first and foremost, flares need to be banned in stadiums. I dont think it would be right to ban Inter from champions league football as that will further encourage fans from rival teams to go posing as supporters of the home side and intigate a riot.

As far as Chelsea goes ---> $$#@$#@%%(^$^$*()$@%@#%@#)($)(#@)%()^$)^ which basically means words cant express how much i loathe them but im starting to like Moroniho ... for one he acts more like hes one of the players than a manager and his fetish to piss of the big boys in UEFA amuses me beyond beleif.... going back to his hotel to watch the game and making his deputy sit there with a cap on to further specultion that hes wired ...lol brilliant ... he reminds me of Happy Gilmore

A lot of people underestimate PSV and Lyon.
Yeah, they are less talented team, but both are well managed, both have good team chemistry and both can turn it up when required, esp. Lyon. I don't know if Milan can counter Lyon's flowing attacks effectively, esp. with old leg defenders.

Well, a team can't exercise crowd control on its fans. I mean, an idiot is going to do whatever. But yeah, Inter deserves at least 1 yr of closed stadium play in all European competitions.

Eh. Chelski defence fell asleep. That's not acceptable.

What happened last night in the AC vs Inter is an absolute disgrace to football fans everywhere. I was appalled to see the Inter fans acting the way they did; throwing bottles and flares on to the field. My question is why do they even have flares in the first place, what's the purpose? Anyhow the basic fact is that Inter got outplayed by a better team, I mean Schevenko goal was a beauty and well played and this is the way fans react? I don't think the players appreciated it at all especially Dida who got hit by a flare on his shoulder/head, it could have been alot worse for him or anybody. It's come to the point where officials are thinking about closing stadiums during matches just so there is a safe game being played but that's not really fair to all the loyal supporters.

In future matches security has to step up and stop all this crazy nonsense. If this is what's happening now in Champions League what's gonna happen next summer in Germany?

Posted by Dj-HordasH on Apr-13-2005 17:27:

Flares are an integral part of the Ultras culture, banning them wont accomplish anything. Ive been to matches where there were 3 layers of security, it was utterly difficult to get anything by them into the stadium. However once the brawl started you had maniacs running inside the washroom to break tiles in order to use them as pelting objects. Dida got hit by a flare but it couldve been a rock, it couldve been much worse either way. Apparently the Ultras leader in Inters kop passed a message through the loudspeaker for fans to throw everything they could find onto the field.

Im really looking forward to see the kind of ban Internazionale will face for this. A ban from European competition for a couple of seasons?

Theres been some first reports of skirmishes throughout Torino, several scousers have been hospitalized. Trying to avenge Heysel wont achieve anything whatsoever, I hope the majority of sane fans have put the event behind them.

Posted by starsearcher on Apr-13-2005 17:34:

I heard for starters they will play at least 2 games on empty stadiums...no crowds...

Posted by Yohan on Apr-13-2005 20:45:

Juventus 0-0 Liverpool
-It's curtains for Juve as Liverpool puts up a fine defensive effort to knock Juve out of Champion's League. First half began with some chances for both teams, but Ibramovich had the best one as he met a cross from left wing, but only to hoof it over the net high.
Juve had chances second half, with Emerson missing a chance after a big scramble and another chance where the ball was on the line. Another deflected ball was saved by Liverpool keeper Dudek who was sharp most of the night. Liverpool defence was solid most of the game, esp. the center halfs.
Props to Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia and Milan Baros for running their balls off all night, keeping Juve defence honest.
Emerson had a horrid game, so did Nedved and Ibramovich really should consider being an offensive midfielder as his finishing touch was again lacking.

PSV and Lyon result to come later after I watch it midnight tonight.

And I watched this game instead of studying for exam whioch happens in about 2 hrs. Can see where my priorities are? lol

Inters Ultra core= Disgrace, learn something from Milan in the Class category!

Same thing goes fro Juve after today. I don't know what's going on but it seems Serie A has gotten completly out of control, but the blind eye will probably be turned again.

I guess fans are protesting for the gay play their (Italian) teams are putting up lately... in the last couple of years that is.

All those pretty boys faking all kinds of falls, injuries, pushes, shoves, etc... fuck, be a man, get up and outplay your opponent with a good team play, not by carrying the ball yourself from one end of the field to another and then crying like a baby when you get it taken away.

Chelsea all the way, baby... all the fucken way. And Mourinho is the man. THE MAN. Doesn't give a shit about anyone he really shouldn't give a shit about in the first place. That's the way, brotha...

PSV continues to suprise and it just might be them in the final.

Posted by samhouse on Apr-14-2005 03:52:

wooohooooo

Liverpool still alive....the darkhorses of this years Champions League are playing awesome footy against the rest of Europe...

Chelsea should be a tough game but judging from previous meetings this should be a tight game. But hell if we can beat Juve, we can beat Chelsea!!!

Posted by Dj-HordasH on Apr-14-2005 04:39:

Well done Liverpool, Juve's out, at least thats one team less that plays dull football! Im hoping PSV produces a miracle against Milan and squeeze their way into the final somehow because Im fed up of watching tedious, mind-nubbing football from the Italian big boys. Theres still great exciting football in Seria A played by some teams but the tactics of the Italian powerhouses, no matter how efficient they might be, simply turn me off.

Tantalizing atmosphere in Eindhoven today, they have that one PSV chant that goes on and on and on, loudly and massively all around, its beautiful. Thats one stadium I will have to spend 90 minutes in.

Posted by Yohan on Apr-14-2005 06:21:

PSV 1-1 Lyon: 2-2 aggregate: PSV wins 4-2 on penalties

It was a decent match as it was PSV that kept up a fast pace throughout the match, with Lyon seem very dead at times and not at its best. The wingers Farfan and Park Ji Sung gave a lot of trouble, but it was Lyon that went first through Wiltord goal capitalizing on a bad clearance by PSV defence. Second half, it was Lyon with a bad clearance and PSV defender makes no mistake to put the game 1-1. Lyon defender Cris nearly took the game with one chance that was cleared off the line and one acrobatic attempt just an inch right of the post. Park Ji Sung was making a pest of himself and he nearly scored with a thundering drive that was just high.
Didn't see the extra time. Stupid TSN, because Lyon had a penalty appeal turned down. Actually, the ref was... iffy with calls I thought.

So, the semis are Liverpool vs Chelsea and PSV vs Juventus.

And I only got 2/4 right this round on my predictions. Bah humbug.

Posted by starsearcher on Apr-14-2005 17:43:

Can't believe Liverpool went through (although I'm very happy that they did) Quite exciting, who would've thunk it Imagine if they still had Michael Owen too...and Gerard playing. At least they have Cisse back now ...Next is them vs Chelsea...now that'll be an awesome rivalry to watch
