i would say the rarest up to this point is teamprogress - symphonic music

and also the miro (dvk remix) and the talisman & hudson - leaving planet earth both have discogs urls...

what record is it that has 140 wants? i think thats a rare record then, and also; sought after. tso it fits in this topic, since thats what the topic is about ... and 140 wants, i guess its pretty rare than, otherwise it would have more haves ....

a lot of things miro produced/mixed have become rare, like his remix on batthleship grey of tiesto ....

those 2 releases u mentioned have a lot of wants, so going on that, i think its rare. but it aint trance ... and as i said before, im after trance, and trance-related. so progressive might go on with that, but when its from 8 yrs ago, from 1997, i think it doesnt fit to the topic 100%, but that doesnt matter, because the most htfr and rare records in trance-genre from the last (lets say) 4 yrs are almost all mentioned ....

anyways, keep posting here guys, its becoming interesting to hear the stories etc ...

That will be the one I was thinking of, I always thought the vasquez mix was subtly different to the one used on N.Exposure, but I assumed that it was down to some Pro-tools editing by Sasha and Diggers.

I'll look for this, but I'm still happy I've got the re-release on Bliss

I'm not sure if Pro-Tools existed back in 1996. Maybe it did in high-end recording studios, which I'm sure MoS had, but I'm almost positive the Northern Exposure series was strictly turntable mixed. Communicate may have seen some editing in Pro-Tools though.

In any case, look for that Pagoda Records release of Wavespeech. It has both mixes you're looking for, plus another by Vasquez. It's also MUCH less expensive

You should listen to that mix of teamPROGRESS' "Symphonic Music", absolutely amazing song. Just b/c some songs are older doesn't exclude them from this category. Have you listened to Sasha and Digweed's Northern Exposure Vol. 1? That's definitely trance, and it's from '96. It's not Tiesto or PvD style trance (which I'm guessing you're referring to), but I'm glad not all trance has that "high-energy"/big room/etc feel. Were it not for forward-thinking artists, this genre would've gone downhill long ago.

Also, there's some songs you should add to the list:

Mox Epoque feat. Nina - I Feel My... [Energized Records] http://www.discogs.com/release/173984

Faithless - God Is A DJ (Astral Projection Remix) [Cheeky Records] http://www.discogs.com/release/230775

Though that Mox Epoque 12" doesn't look like it's that wanted, best of luck finding a copy.

Concerning the rarest AND most-wanted record on this list, check out the Human Mix of Tilt's Invisible:

http://www.discogs.com/release/173020

There's probably only 25 copies, and 25 people want the record. Similarly rare records are:

teamPROGRESS - Symphonic Music
Tekknova - Last Trip To Paradise
Faithless - God Is A DJ (Astral Projection Remix)
Polaroid - So Damn Beautiful (Brothers In Rhythm Remix)

That Polaroid 12" does have a discogs entry, as do the others from my first post. When you copied those tunes from my original post, the discogs entries didn't copy to your main page. The link for it is:

Congrats on that serp, that's awesome!

Although I've seen a couple of copies, Dream Traveler's "Time" has been hard to find, at least, for a reasonable price. That and "El Nino", which I don't care to have, are the only tracks I'm missing from Tranceport (different mix of Someone too).

I also have Icey's "Not a Test" and "City of Groove", which are some of his earlier works. I'm not sure that they're super rare, but I haven't seen a lot of copies around.

The Swimmer "Stand By" wasn't too easy to find either. Damn I love that track.

I have it, it's not that rare.

The Ambush - Everlast is on Casino records I think, it's on Discogs, there are several versions but the original is the one to look out for, and that's quite hard to find.

Jeff has some good points in his post... some NE1 tracks are super rare these days. The only reason I ranked Symphonic Music as being rarer than Invisible is because only 3 people have it on Discogs, whereas 4 have Invisible. That being said... It is rumored that only 25 copies of Invisible were pressed, whereas the promo sheet to Symphonic Music claims 500 were pressed... good luck finding those though!

i guess u are right, but since im into trance since 2000, there's so much to explore for me. im gonna give a listen to northern exposure vol. 1 4 sho ... but its hard nowadays to keep up with all trance productions. next to that, i have a study, so i can only spend some 20 hours per week on listening and informing myself

thnx 4 all those adds u suggested, ill take m in my the list

next to that, a hard to find record is (for me at least); the swimmer - purple cloud, the one that's featured on magik 6 by tiesto ..

Never was nor never will be released on vinyl, hence why not on Discogs.

Also, the original was never released on vinyl but was on CD. Never heard it though.

Posted by waxHead on Apr-21-2005 19:05:

I found some info today on a rare record that I thought I'd share.

I went over to Miro's website (www.miromusic.com) to listen to some remixes, and I saw the By Your Side Katcha mix listed on the front page (you can also find it in the online store). So I clicked on it, assuming I'd never heard it, and to my surprise, the next page lists Dick Van Koch (DVK) next to Katcha. I listened to the audio clip, and sure enough, the DVK remix I submitted to discogs is the exact same remix as the Katcha remix. I made some updates to the release in discogs, hopefully they will go through soon:

http://www.discogs.com/release/415373

Perhaps this will help a few people find this amazing track!

You're welcome, I'm glad I have it to share

About your earlier question concerning that release of "Purple", you could try contacting someone at Warner Bros. records to get an idea. Other than that, you can be sure there aren't a whole lot of those double-sided Sasha remix pressings around.

16B feat Morel - Excape
Cass & Slide - Perception (Automatic)
Sasha & Maria - Be As One (Be As One/Heart of Imagination) (Deconstruction Promo)
Grayarea - Gravity (Hope Ltd Promo Release)
Delerium - Silence (Sanctuary/Tiesto Mix) (Nettwerk)

no idea man, look on ebay for a while .. you'll find out maybe. and try discogs, maybe u can there if its wanted ( so it might be worth more than usual)
by the way, this thread is about rare/sought after records, not 'what's my collection worth'

Posted by shades_of_gray on Apr-24-2005 23:16:

some of mine

Balearic Bill - Destination Sunshine (Tiesto 'Power' Mix) [1 Sided White Label]
Hooligan - Hear You Now (Grand Chillas Mix) [B-Sides]
Insigma - Open Your Eyes [ATCR Test Pressing]
Chiller Twist - Stringz Ultd [Plumb]
Two Fishes - Opera [Omnisounds]
Sisko - Light Over Me (Gate Of Light Mix) [Flammable]

Posted by fuct4less on Apr-25-2005 01:02:

Not exactly the most sought after trance record, but Blue Planet Corporation's Overbloody Flood is definitely up there.

most of those are in the list, and yes, some of them are pretty rare/sought after. especially that tiesto power mix on a white label, very rare. stringz ultd is hard to find too, and i think u can say its sought after, hear you now is pretty easy to find on ebay for example, but its wanted though ..
