Both Sasha & Zabi put me to sleep the last time I saw them... You should stop whoreing them. I mean it is also just as easy looking back and saying that Oaki played boring prog for years as well. Sasha's attack to playing boring for a while then dropping a neat track does not work with many genres. Fortunately Prog is one of them. You can strait up play something monotone & repetitive for a good thirty to fourty five minutes, then drop something sick. Because it basically "mind-fucks" you. And you can do it again, and again, and it actually works & sounds amazing due to the structure of the tracks that he is playing. With prog, the second you hear another bassline come in over the previous one, it just picks you up, and carries you to the next transition. Now he is attempting to play a less "hypnotizing & mind controlling" style the same way, as he does prog, and it is just dull at the moment. At least for me. Im sure when Sasha goes on to change his style once again, people will just look back and say, he is much better now then when he played all that weird electro stuff.

well if you guys have experienced sasha's new style and don't find it great...that's perfectly fine and i won't try and convince you. but i have a feeling that many people are judging him by his past and probably haven't giving him a chance these days because of it. if you don't like it you don't like it, but just as i have my opinions about markus, armin, tiesto...etc. i think that i'm very justified in my reasons because i listen to a lot of their stuff still and have maintained that same opinion ya know. i think people that just have an idea about a dj, but can't necessarily say they've recently listened to a set by them...or seen them live...i don't really think they should be judging those dj's.

and sandstorm...

i gotta admit i'm one of those people that didn't really like sasha's really proggy years...i don't like really proggy music. i know that this electro sound is pretty trendy and popular right now, but i think my history in listening to music would explain why i like it. the influences on this new sound are clearly things that i've listened to in the past so i still think i'll love it when its time is long gone...

cool go out and enjoy it . I still had a prety good nights when Ive seen him, he just didn't keep me going. It didn't seem like it was going anywhere. Im just not really a fan of the "loddy doddy" music that doesn't do much.

ok, i dont really know what you listen to, im going to assume its not prog since you have a really shallow understanding of it, to deduct the paragraph; prog to you is "monotone & repetetive". Then you say its good due to the structure of the tracks? how can the structure of something that is "monotone and repetetive" sound amazing?
Ill have to disagree with you since i see progressive house, much more complex than uplifting trance. Why? we could go on about it forever and you would probably still think its "monotone and repetetive" thats how useless it is debating with you.

Good listening, not the greatest dancing, but thats just me.

exactly, its you. You cant really dance to something you dont feel. But i didnt know we were arguing about whats good for dancing and what isnt?

quote:
id have to admit that even Tiesto & armin probably have more energy.

more energy? as in their sets are more energetic? technically yes, as Do i get more energy from their sets than i do from a Sasha set? no, i find a greater feeling in a set that slowly builds me up and rips it by the end than track after track of 140+bpm nonsense thats good for dancing and thats as far as it got me.

quote:
I havn't really felt any need to get up and start dancing when ive heard recent Sasha stuff. Even if i get going, it doesn't seem to go anywhere.

like i said, you cant dance to music you dont understand or feel.

quote:
I mean im still amazed that people think Involver is a "dancy/clubby cd."

i would be amazed if anyone thought involver is a dancy clubby cd as well.

Ive clearly posted my opinions about him, and have supported them. All you can do is try to bash me cause you think I only listen to Da Rude.

Your entitled to your opinion so whatever, im not going to try and change it.
Actually i wasnt pointing to you about Darude, Sveta actually has it in her profile. The fact that you are sandstorm03 is a coincidence that actually strengthed my point of "Nu Nrg, Tiesto, and Darude fans thinking Sasha is boring"
Cobalt proved me that not only Nu Nrg, Tiesto and Darude fans think Sasha is boring though.

Or you can actually try to back up your statements, which is probably never going to happen.

just did

Posted by Floorfiller on Apr-19-2005 15:56:

well there really isn't any need to try and convince sandstorm to agree with sasha fans...he checked it out...its not his thing...and that's fine.

well your wrong about 80% of my sets atm are progressive... As are 80% of the cds that I own are progressive...

progressive = repetitive. Repetitiveness leads to "hypnotysm." Basically the same thing happends when your driving on the highway and stare at the white lines in the road. Then you suddenly wake up and try to think what you have been doing the past hour.

who said anything about complexity? Ive stated previousely that complexity does not even matter.

quote:

Thats my point. Did I say that Sasha was a bad dj? I just find It is harder to dance to his recent stuff then his older stuff. example involver.

quote:

Well thats my point. Its a different form of Energy. For example If Sasha were to play a one hour set, chances are that it would be prety boring. Because of the fact that he likes to build it up. Its just different. I am almost willing to bet that in a one hour set, he would play semi-boring electroish house tunes for 45-50 minuters, then end with a few cool tracks...

the boring statement comming from the fact that if you were in a club and looked around, the chances are that you will probably see a few, maybe a hand full of people dancing a bit if sasha was spinning. But when it comes down to it, after an hour of Tiesto of whoever I am willing to bet that the club will be bouncing.

Call it what you want...

quote:

A lot of the stuff he has been playing live is quite like his involver style. Is it not? If you go look @ previous Involver threads plenty of people have tried to prove arguments that it is a Dancy cd. Just because it has Sasha on the cover.

Anyway if you think this whole music with a "twist" like involver or whatever is a new concept, it really isn't. If you think Involver is remotely good you should check out "The Future Sound of London" & "Banco de Gaia" cds from 1994 or so. And tell me what you think.

Not many people actually support their opinions. Its not my fault...

Posted by UWM on Apr-19-2005 16:26:

Well, you can't always support an opinion. There isn't always a tangible reason why you feel stronger about one particular thing than another. I can't explain why I like progressive house better than trance, I just do.

I like prog house right now more then I like trance right now(for the most part). Trance still has more "Energy."

Posted by UWM on Apr-19-2005 16:34:

I suppose the supersaw synths, higher BPM, etc ... probably do provide more "energy," that much I will agree with. However, I have an easier time dancing at a prog house set than a trance set simply because I am enjoying the music more.

Diff'rent strokes, diff'rent folks.

I know what you mean, thats why I like spinning prog. And thats why I feel its a shame that Sasha doesn't play it anymore . Even Digweed now has definately started moving away from prog. His last set was verry "tech-house." GRRR Still fun, but different.

they still play lots of prog lee. sasha cant get away from moods and melody. diggers dropped plenty of 'prog with balls' at virgin.

Posted by UWM on Apr-19-2005 16:37:

I don't really know how I feel about the direction Digweed is going. I mean, yeah, it's different, but it's not different in a positive way IMO. It's almost too techy and experimental for my tastes, like trying too hard to be different and 'progressive.'

Posted by Floorfiller on Apr-19-2005 16:38:

sp let me get this straight lee...

you like nu-nrg and pvd...but you spin prog?

hahah, thanks for reminding me. I had to change my profile long time ago before posting my clueless ideas about music. I just need somebody to remind me one more time not to forget to mention Sasha in my Fave Dj's info. hahahaha. He is not, but i have respect for him and what he does. Somebody likes it and well, let it be. And i will go and see him again and again just because Crobar's management wasn't smart enough to make somebody else a resident (thanks for Sander though)

im guessing it was very "stoppage time" like

Posted by G1_integra on Apr-19-2005 16:39:

I have had ALL of his cd's and out of all of them I only like 4-5 of his mixes.
