ok heres another one if you think your so clever. if god isn't real than why do so many ppl beleive in him??? also noone has ever proved that god DOESNT exist not even charles darwin.maybe you should think about this before you post again

a) pistake is UK slang not US slang but really who cares.... essentially he was asking if you were kidding.

b) whether or not something is or is not real is inmaterial to wheter or not people believe in it. UFOs may or may not be real but many believe in them. The easter bunny is not real but many children believe in it. God may or may not be real, that people believe something is not evidence that it exists as anything more then a believe.

C) No one has ever proven that the tooth fairy DOESN'T exist either. It is impossible to prove a negative. Failing to prove that something does not exist does not act as proof that it does exist. Also, you should note that Darwin was a firm believer in chritianity and thought that evolution was further evidence of God... Evolution and Creation are not diabolically opposed.

Why is that stupid? I don't think I would have worded it that way as many may take offense, but what's stupid about his reasoning. I think it's pretty retarded to think everything came from a single celled organism, through mutation. It's amazing that we can't find a definitive intermediary species, being as we've supposedly been evolving for millions of years. Funny how the Anthropology books explain it by saying that there are good fossilization times and bad times. That's awfully convenient. Also interesting how the Anthropology books show a diagram of a skeletal structure with hundreds of bones, based on their analysis of a mere two that they've found. That's a whole lot of speculation. Too much for me to buy it anyway.

Take a book written in an ancient language.
Translate it 5 or so more times, using another few ancient languages.

Tell me this doesnt leave any creative licence to whoever was doing the translations at each step...

Best example I can give:

Take a paragraph in english.
Translate it to german.
Then to spanish.
Then to french.
Then to italian.
Then back to english.

How much like the original paragraph does the final one look?

Not friggin much

Morals ftw!

On my way home from the cottage I found a deer on the road. It had been hit by a truck and then it shit itself.

To German

Auf meiner Weise, die vom Huschen fand ich Haupt ist, ein Rotwild auf der Strae. Sie war durch einen LKW und dann sie Scheie selbst geschlagen worden.

To French

De ma manire que de la maisonnette je tte ai trouve suis, un gibier rouge sur la route. Elle tait frappe des Scheisse lui-mme par un camion et alors elle.

To Spanish

De mi manera que de la casita yo cabeza encontr es, una caza roja sobre la carretera. Se afectaba a Scheisse l mismo por un camin y entonces ella.

To English

Of my way that of the small house I head found is, a red hunting on the highway. He himself by a then truck was affected to Scheisse and she.

WOW....that doesn't even look close

Sorry brother but both your post and the one that you are attempting to support show a serious lack of knowledge regarding physical anthropology.
There certainly is a clear chain from Astrolopithicus to Homo Sapien... granted, we don't have skeletal records for every part of this chain but the chain is there. Try to remember that the search for fosil records of these two classes of primate have only really been going on since the early 60s. The fact that we have found as much of the chain as we have is somewhat astounding.
Where your argument that evolution is not correct because we have not found a direct link is flawed is because you are suggesting that there is only one link. We already know of at least 4 Homo species prior to Homo Sapien Archaic and 3 Astrololpithicus species after Afarencis.... it is only a matter of time before we find the last Astrolopithicus and the first Homo.

BTW, as I said earlier creation and evolution are not mutually exclusive. If you take an interpretive view of the bible the story of creation is a very good allagory for evolution.... which makes sense to me because God is certainly bright enough to know that no bronze age people would understand the big bang and evolution so he had to tell the story in a manner they could relate to.

I am a firm believer in science first when it comes to explaining things. That being said....science only can take you so far and then you have to believe in faith. We are brought up believing certain things are morally right and morally wrong and we are told not to do the things that are morally wrong. The basis for what we have been taught is right and is wrong is enforced through some sort of religous believes of our ancestors. This is taught to others and so on and so on. Certain beliefs have become law and therefore they are enforced on us.

Fine....I will take a stance....religon is for weak minded people who need to believe in the afterlife because they are affraid of death. If you want to believe in religon then go ahead....there is no such thing as GOD....GOD is some word that we decided to make up to give an identity to the afterlife. The whole thing is crap and this whole thread is crap. Personally, I just want to eat some peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches right now.

not really...most religious people aren't scared of dying, but rather embrace it.

And the reason they embrace it is because they believe there is an afterlife. Without the belief of an afterlife they are scared that there is nothing.....The truth is there is nothing...when I die...I will be put into the ground...I will decompose and become dirt. I will see no light....I will see no gate....I will not see heaven nor will I see hell. I will be dead...that is all.

sucks to think about it, but its so fucking true it hurts.

Posted by Slylee on Jun-23-2005 17:15:

u know what, why don't we all just shut up because we'll really never know until we fucking die, so everyone quit talking so goddamned "matter-of-fact" about the subject...none of us know jack shit.

Personally the idea of eternity scares me more than that of non-existance.

Let's see what Bad religion has to say about the afterlife

"there's a place where everyone can be right
even though you remain determined to be opposed
admittance requires no qualifications
it's where everyone has been and where everybody goes
so please try not to be impatient
for we all hate standing in line
and when the farm is good and bought
you'll be there without a thought
and eternity my friend, is a long fuckin' time"

Bad Religion - You
