But yes people here are generally too insecure and self centred to be able to open their mind to what real love, friendship and human values are.

Some people think it's not only about being with someone to make you feel better. You should feel better just how you are and then if you happen to find someone who shares common interests or you get along really well then things can proceed from there. (Usually that's how it works I guess).
