See thats alittle too much info for me to know about baseball.

It was probably Ruth's obsurd slugging percentage that gets him up there.

took the singin words right outta my mouth...

LETS GO YANKEES!!!

BERNIE WILLIAMS!!!!

LOL

Posted by Vlad on Oct-10-2005 04:43:

I gotta say, it would be really hard to see someone else wear the #51 in pinstripes.

Lets see in yankees history, hes 5th in Runs, 4th in hits & at bats, 13th in avg, 6th in HRs, 7th in RBIs. 1996 ALCS MVP.

And hes in the tops within batting in the playoffs, as far has hits, runs, RBI's and HR's are concerned.

Has be been valuable enough to the Yankees to retire his number?

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-10-2005 05:15:

Longevity stats are dumb. Especially most Post-Season stats.

Posted by RichieRich on Oct-10-2005 05:36:

i believe both bernie and o'neil's numbers deserve to be retired.

derek's will be without a doubt.

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-10-2005 06:08:

So I guess the Yankees would be using 3-digit numbers by now if the fans decided whose number got retired, huh?

i'd wear 666

Posted by Member of X on Oct-10-2005 12:59:

I think it goes without saying I'd wear 69...

But retiring numbers is kind of ghey, I think teams go overboard. Definitely the all-time post season records are practically meaningless because they play another round now. Bernie having the most HR's in the post season is dumb. I like Bernie but it's time for him to go. I would be a ruthless owner... Jerry Rice would have been cut in the middle of the night a long time ago. I would have mailed him a pink slip.

"Thanks for your efforts but you're damn slow now, it's time to get so new blood in there. As such, we're giving you the boot. Console yourself with the 50 million in salary we've given you the last 10 years. Peace Out. Brian G.M."

I don't have a prediction tonight because I don't know which way it's gonna go. I do predict that my heart will collapse in about the 6th inning if it's another nail biter. Maybe they can go 19 innings and kill me.

Yanks can score against Fatolo but Moose is so unpredictable!! It's not like Randy coming out of the bullpen is the same as it was 4 years ago. Maybe to get some lefties out....

Mo said that he could go 2 again but I seriously doubt that. He used to back in 1996.. we'll see should be fun.

Gotta give props to LL Cool J...Going back to Cali

What a choke by the red sox. Mussina better go 6 tonight

Both Greats, but O'Neil's number should NOT be retired. He was not a yankee his whole career. He was by far a yankee great.

On the other hand Bernie has been a Yankee his whole career. I do see them retiring his number when he ends his career..

reggie jackson, babe ruth, and roger maris weren't playing for the Yankees their entire career, yet their numbers are retired

O'Neill played half his career on the Reds. He won a ring with them in 1990. But in any case, I dont see them retiring his number just because he was a nice guy.

reggie didn't even play half of his career with the yankees and won three rings with the A's

Ehh, I dont know what the Yank's prerogative is with retiring numbers, in that case, I could see them retiring #13 for A-Rod.

Why not retire Boone's number? And Cano while they're at it.

If Cano is around long enough to wear a couple rings.

You know... I've never been at Yankee stadium for a game that Mariano saved. That sucks. I gotta go to a few more Yankee games next year. Especially a game that counts. That's got to be a cool experience.
