Stop and listen. Adagio for Strings is a great song. my first impression of this song is not that good, plain and boring. i always skip this track. however, after i put my soul into the music, i realized this music is great.

but how does it defines trance? is it hypnotic? rhythmic? deep?

Looking at some of these replies makes me laugh.

People bashing other people saying they don't know anything about trance really funny. Trance is what you make of it, not what some mass crowd says it should be. I personally like the M.I.K.E. & Airwave stuff, I'm sure some people will disagree with me but that's my vision

If I should define trance, then this would be my definition:

The Vodunsi definitely know their shit when it comes to trance.

Tiesto raped Barber's Adagio and you know it. Face the facts. MAYBE, just maybe, the Danjo & Styles remix could be good but nothing compares to Ferry Corsten's mix, or let alone the original by William Orbit.

Can't be arsed to check through the whole thread, but this is the very best suggestion on the first page, and the only really valid one too.

yep that's why Sand Leaper agreed on it ;P
no but seriously. I've thought long and can't come up with any tune that better represents trance than Firedance. It includes all those elements that makes a trance song trancy.

Without a doubt. It has the SWEETEST build up and I love when the melody is played in higher notes and the strong hi hat kicks in which makes it extremely driving. I love the other little melody, or riff or whatever that kicks in about 30 to 40 secs after the little breakdown after about 4-5 minutes, so good, then the melody comes back in again. Lovely song!

The Capriole tracks aren't bad either!
