I started with a 4 hour train ride to Toronto...then hopped on a 45min bus ride back to Hamilton (after Josh picked me up from the train station and we met with Spitty and Chris). Laura picked us up from the bus station and we began our trek to New York at about 1:15 in the morning. Got there around 9:30 - thanks everyone that gave us directions!
We got to Fran's, and unloaded our bags. He had some work to do, so we decided to go exploring. We walked like 50 miles or something...but it didn't actually seem that long. We saw a bunch of sights...took tons of pictures - which will all be up soon! And just had a great time exploring the city.
Afterwards we relaxed for a bit, before it was time to start the partying! Yankeebaby met up with us (great to see you again baby!), as well as Your Mother (who is actually a native of Windsor!) and his gf. We headed over to Roxy, and after a bit of confusion with the tickets we managed to get in alright.
The club itself was awesome. It was pretty big and had a really nice set up. I also liked how you could be like 10 feet away from the DJ...if that! There were 3 big video screens on each side of the booth, and if you wanted to hang out behind them and dance you literally could just walk up and shake the DJs hand. Not to mention, there was so much room all around the front! Nada you would have been SO happy! Okay...well maybe not RIGHT in the front. But from where I was dancing all night, I was pretty close, and I didn't have too many problems with people getting in my way.
As for tunes...many of them have already been mentioned. Lyteo & Summer dream were definatly two of my favorites. Say Hello - I told Laura she had to take a video of me and Spitty dancing for you Nada. She told me that he probably wouldn't play it...and sure enough he did! I think he did it purposely for you I can't wait to show you the video. And yes, as Kelly said...we represented you quite well...a lot of "this is for Nada"'s!
One thing I didn't like though...Josh and I recall there being a couple weak spots in his set. For the most part it was great, but there were two times where we just looked at each other and were like "c'mon paul...pick it up a bit" and sure enough he did and we danced away saying "now THAT'S more like it! That's the paul I've come to know and love!"
It was great to meet a lot of you NYC TAs...dirtydave (we had a nice talk about how awesome the edm scene was haha), photoaddict, your mother, pvdobsession, verndog, colibri, avikonen (of course)...and I'm sure there were others! Hope to see some of you guys soon!
Thanks again to Fran for his genourous hospitality...to Laura for making me go and spotting me all that money...and to all the TAs for making it an awesome trip! One of the best decisions I've ever made!
P.S. Pics and vids soon
P.P.S. I introduced a lot of you to my friend Kelly (not Yankeebaby). She's from Windsor, but has recently moved to New York for school. I helped get her into the EDM scene right before she moved, and she's been trying to get into it more in New York. I hope you guys take good care of her. There's a Welcome thread for her in the TOTA boards. Her nick is KellyBelly!
pfft, I didnt meet you.

OMG
What a freakin birthday, now I don't know PvD from the 2002/2003 era but god damn I think friday night was what it was like. Reddog, Dummerboy, NY1004 and I walked in around 1 AM, seems we were some of the last people to get in. Was already wasted from the pre-game at my place but that went out the door the second I walked in and sweat came pouring down my face, but I didn't care, the screens, the lazers and dear god the crowd, the wonderful crowd on the floor hands in the air, I felt like it was how you alwas want a club to be when you walk in. Checked the coat and then we were off. Onto the dancefloor and saw everyone, DirtyDave, Sunshine78, Jay, Joe, everyone. Everyone in good spirits, the club was packed and the vibe was great. The music, damn could it ever stop, just one good thing after another. PvD lovin the crowd, I wanted him to jump in and dance with us (maybe next time
) It was hot and swaety and dirty and I loved it. I went for my birthday and damn what a birthday, if every year could be like that. Thanks to PvD for the wonderful birthday present. Thank you to EVERYONE in Roxy that wished me a happy birthday, people were freakin jump over othr people to come up to me to say it. To my after-party buddies....Jay was classic and Mike and Joe you guys made the end of the night just as good as the rest of it. Crashed at 2PM Saturday afternoon and woke up again at 5AM Sunday morning. This for sure we be a night I will always talk about!!!!
Blake: I think I saw you at the bar but I wasn't sure if it was you so I didn't say anything
. I was the girl in the black shirt with the lovely "Happy Birthday" crown. Maybe you saw me!!!!

| I still maintain that he played Wavy Gravy, but I am probably wrong. This would have been ~2am. |

damn he destroyed me on fri. i loved hearing kva - falling anywhere. i thought at one point i was hearing lolo - why but maybe i was mistaken. that was the first time i've been back to ny since he did the roxy in nov. of '03; this was def. the best i've heard him, unbelievable. i can't wait for the next time. gotta give thx to Colin (dirichlet) for hookin' up the ride and hangin' in there w/me.

I'm really glad you guys had fun... I really wanted to go, but I couldn't
. I was really looking forward to even just heading downtown again, too, since going to NYC is much better than the west haven/new haven scene.
Paul seemed like he was having a great time. I don't know how these DJs travel all over the world and adjust to being night creatures in different time zones. And Paul is drug-free? Wowzers! I don't know how I'm going to handle him and Tiesto back to back New Years Eve weekend. What a way to start the new year, ay?
well after a long weekend, here's my review....
Firstaval, i left my house later because of work and thought i wouldn't get in til after 1am which would have sucked. but it was a total surprise that there was no traffic getting into the city and the line at roxy was 10 minutes long. so i got in at about 11:20 which was perfect. the place wasn't really packed so i found a great spot up front as usual. Jerry Bonham was really good and i would love to see him spin a full set someday.
I gotta say that i never met so many TA's in one night
Verndogs, great to finally meet you bro
Sal, the once again PvD Believer
Elipse, always a good time man (hope u got home ok)
Sot, i thought that was you and i was rite... nice meeting u man
Kadamony, nice meetin u man, its so easy to spot u because u always ahve the same shirt on
All the TOTA's, it was cool meeting all you guys, i gotta come up there sometime...maybe NYE
there were a couple more TA's that i met but i can't remember their names (sorry)
Anyway, PvD played a ridonkulous set
, i was totally shocked at his new style and how hard he played. But i was lovin every minute of it as usual. The good thing is that roxy was not packed at all compared to the past couple times i've been there for PvD so i had alot of room to dance and go nutz
. His set was mindblowing from start to finish, he never let up and every track was awesome! I dunno if u guys noticed but his wife was there with him, it seems she goes alot of places with him now...I thought his mixing was alot better then alot of times i've seen him in the past. I guess since he took the #1 spot he changed his style and approach to DJing, and we all benifited from it. i can't wait til he comes back
Track of the night for me was Freefall - Skydive it's one of my favorite tracks of all time
other highlights were:
Paul van Dyk - The Other Side
Paul van Dyk - For an Angel (Mark van Linden Reconstruction Mix)
Paul van Dyk - Crush
Solarstone - Release
Schiller mit Heppner - I Feel You
Mark Otten- So Serene
Deep Dish - Say Hello (Paul van Dyk Mix)
Marco V - False Light
White Room feat. Amy Cooper - Someday
Purple Haze - Adrenaline
Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso - Yeah
Timo Maas - Pictures (Paul van Dyk Remix)
So many good tunes throughout his whole set, it was unbelievable!!! it sucks that he only played til six but it was one of his best sets in NYC to date! what was his first encore?? i can't remember rite now?
well to say the least it was another crazy night at roxy!! looking forward to alot more PvD!!!
Thank you PvD for another amazing night in NYC!!!

Best Set Ever
I've gotten away from trance lately and have gotten more into tribal and electro house, but it was great to be back for one night. I can't believe I almost didn't go to this and would have never forgiven myself after I saw that tracklist.
I've seen PVD over 10 times and always thought his set at LFA in Berlin the night before the last Love Parade in 2003 was the best I've ever seen, but he blew it away Sat. night. Now I remeber why he's my favorite and will never even think twice about skipping a show.
Glad to see all the regular peepes. Dustin and Tyas, I can't wait to rip it in DC for Deep Dish Thanksgiving weekend.
