Sweden is down with one goal against Slovakia, it's been pretty even and we could've scored a goal or two too. But on the other hand, Slovakia could've also scored more goals.

Pretty good match though.

i truly hope sweden wins.. and also make their way to finals it would be great to see Finland and Sweden in finals

Haven't watched the second period, but it's still 1-0 for Sloavkia.

Posted by ertsi on Feb-21-2006 20:31:

Sweden had powerplay 5 against 3 but without results unfortunately.. Demitra with someone other got face to face with Tellqvist but Mikael got it

very pleasant watching altogether..

Thanks for the summary mate. I'm glad Mikael is doing well because he's a goalie who hasn't been given the real chance in North America. Let's hope they score in the 3rd period

Posted by ertsi on Feb-21-2006 20:41:

I'll keep my fingers crossed

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 21:22:

Most of us in Sweden is dissapointed that we lost, but maybe this was a tactical thing by the Swedes? Maybe they wanted to play against who ever it'll be now.

We'll come back, I guess

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 21:23:

Btw, we didn't play any good tonight though. Mikael should be awarded for the his good game.

Posted by ertsi on Feb-21-2006 21:30:

yeah, the problem certainly wasn't in Mikael.. Sweden can do much better but we shouldn't underestimate the slovaks.. i think they are the most likely to win the champion

Posted by zoric on Feb-21-2006 22:05:

Yep. I'm holding Finland and the Slovaks as favourites. You're both really playing great and I wouldn't be surprised to see you in the final.

Mikael played very well and he was certainly not the problem, Sweden has to take themselves together, stop talking shit and start producing. The golden generation as it's called in Sweden with Forsberg, Sundin and Alfredsson should be playing and performing much better. It's time to play much better and time to give everything, and so far, they haven't done that, and that's not Sweden's style.

it's been a year since the goalies wore shoulder pads.

and that ended up being the final outcome

Posted by zoric on Feb-22-2006 02:40:

People in Sweden is dissapointed with how the Swedish team is playing right now and especially how they played against Slovakia tonight. Many swedes thinks that they lost the game because they didn't want to meet Canada or Czech Republic in the Quarterfinals.

I can only say that the whole team played shamefull last game and the only one who deserves cred is the goalie, Mikael Tellqvist.

People will get really pissed if we lose against Switzerland tomorrow, that's for sure. Although, I'm pretty sure we can win over La Suisse if we don't underestimate them, that's the biggest misstake you can do. They're still a good team even though they haven't got the biggest stars on the paper.

holla!

even though we lost I think this was a good game for the US.

We scored four times, and even though it was against their backup goalie, I think this will boost our confidence a little bit going into the next round. Our whole MO up to this point was that compared to the Europeans and Canada, the US team doesn't have great shooters.

and also that we're slow, but we make up for that by hitting the hardest. (with the exception of maybe Canada)

yeah, well the best are always the envy of the world aren't they? Kinda like Brazil in football.

Anyway, Canada vs. Russia tomorrow. It's too early for a game of that calibre but I'm not confident. There were several errors in picking this team in my opinion. The D-men are too big and slow for Olympic ice and they're not adjusting quick enough. Plus, fast skaters like Paul Kariya and Eric Stahl should be on this team, as well as Shanahan, who isn't quite as quick, but would be helping Sakic out in the leadership department. Ah well...it's Gretzky's team. If we lose, he'll be hearing about it. But we still have the best goalie in the world, Mr. Martin Brodeur. The guy is money.

Good luck to all countries tomorrow.

It seems like Team USA will need a performance like that

I've got like 7 games all day long and I'll go crazy today. But sure, I'm really looking forward to the games and I hope for some entertaining and good encounters.

Slovakia vs. Czech's will be a very intensive game which may be one of the best even though Czech Republic hasn't played their best hockey.

I've got a funnier feeling about Sweden losing to Switzerland than Finland to USA. Finland looks far stronger than many other teams, as long as their playing their own game they'll probably win, I guess.

Canada vs. Russia is going to be a very good game. I like both teams very much, but I'll be rooting for Russia who can play very good icehockey from time to time.

Posted by GrimReaper on Feb-22-2006 11:25:

Tonight's games should be interesting.. i'm expecting Russia to beat Canada as overall they have had a much better tournament so far than Canada with its 2 games with 0 goals even. Finland and USA.. hard to say which one will win, we'll see. If our guys play anywhere as well as they have, i'm betting on them. Slovakia and Czechs might be a very intensive game indeed. Sweden has been a bit yes-no during the tournament, playing great games and awful games. But Switzerland should be rather easily beatable. Somewhere there i'm gonna take a little peek at curling too.

Posted by Rockabye on Feb-22-2006 13:23:

go suomi go!!!

beat the hell out of the US boys

Posted by all-nite-freak on Feb-22-2006 13:54:

Without Khabibulin Russia will have a hard time winning today.Canada has sucked it up in the prelims, but they also did in Salt Lake City.
When its do or die things are very different and there is alot of international experience on the Canadian team.

The US has played better than the results have indicated, but they are in a rebuilding stage and will be contenders in 4 years, but not this year.Finland should take it if they get good work between the pipes. The US will never win anything with Esche or Dipietro.

I really have lost all of my respect for the Swedish team for their basically losing purposely to Slovakia to play the Swiss.Competition is not about this, and although it was smart i really hope it bites them in the ass.The Swiss have played well due to the fact that they have competed as a team more than any of the other countries this year. The swedes will win,but if Gerber stands on his head you never know.

Slovaks and Czechs...very interesting game.I think the Czechs are better on paper but the Slovaks have alot of firepower.I'm going Czechs because of their goaltending.Vokoun can be one of the worlds top goalies when he is in top form.

all in all today is about getting drunk and watching hockey!yessssssssssssssssssssss
