I bought my first set of decks and mixer from htfr - the mixer I ordered was worth £300, tho the one they sent me was worth about £80. When I rang them up, they claimed the one I had ordered was out of stock and they had sent me a replacement... cheers!

After playing up they then decided to swop mixers, tho I had to pay for the postage to send it back (recorded delivery on a heavy mixer doesn't come cheap) and had to wait nearly a fortnight. The replacement mixer they sent wasn't even the one I ordered, it was the model below with £25 store credit

I will never ever order anything from these monkeys again, they are absolutly diabolical

Do I take it you asked someone local for directions then

If you go back PM me and I'll meet you somewhere and show you where it is . . . .

It's not that hard to find

Well, let me tell you, Dance Music Finder are absolutely NO better than HTFR,

They're both as bad as each other, not bad if you go to the store though.

just my 0.5 SEK ( no EUR here )

I have also had very good luck with Juno and i order from them every 1-2 weeks. There shipping costs are reasonable (i live in US), as are Chemical Records and Dancegrooves. Juno has the widest selection it seems, but sometimes doesnt get new releases for 1-2 weeks after dancegrooves and only-djs get them. Only-djs is good, but their records are generally more expensive and their shipping cost is fixed at around 30 USD, which is ok if you are buying 10-20 records, but makes things unaffordable otherwise. I have found several records on their sale list though, sometimes for 2-5 USD.

has anyone ever bought anything from dancerecords.com? i just placed my order a couple days ago. we'll see how it goes. their prices were a little higher than other places but they have a very good selection. they also offer free shipping for orders over $50.

Vital Vinyl - Any Experiences?

Anyone have experience buying in stroe or online from Vital Vinyl out of Minneapolis Mn in the U.S.? I'm interested but want to avoid stores that list hot titles then can't deliver coz they have no stock. It's a big reason I buy from Juno and I have never been disappointed, but finding a good U.S Source for Breaks, Deep House and progressive would be great.

Phil

hi,

i have used replay a few times when ordering some old records for my back catalogue :-) they are pretty quick to process the order. On one time i think i didnt receive a vinyl as it had sold out - The Swimmer - Django... but they just deducted off the bill, and sent apologies...

so long as u order big the shipping to Belgium is probably gonna be cost effective too :-)

Hello again my fellow TAs!

After having my 3rd terrible experience with Hard To Find records, I feel it’s time I let the world know what they are like. I, personally, have decided to no longer use them. I am starting this thread to warn others about using www.htfr.com because of the really dodgy shit that's happened to me. Let me take a moment to explain...

Firstly, I ordered 'Sasha & Maria- Be As One' from them mid last year, at a cost of £14.00 including shipping ($20.00 US). It was the usual slow service... it took about a week to arrive even though I live in England, but that I can put up with.

When it did finally arrive, I opened it up and found it was a 4 track EP. Fine I said. I put it on the deck and pressed start... and thought to myself "This isn't the start I remember". It had had about 2 minutes cut off from the beginning. So I wasn't happy. Anyway, I left the tune to play... and 4 minutes later, there was some crappy fade out and that was it! Also the actual quality of the recording was appalling! It sounded like an mp3 at 96 KBPS! I was absolutely furious! The clowns at Hard To Find records had totally butchered a brilliant 13-minute tune. What the rip-off bas**rds appeared to have done is taken the tune, made some crappy edit of it, used a vinyl cutter to press the vinyl and then charged an extortionate amount of money to buy it! I was horrified that they could get away with something like that... but I said to myself, 'I've bought lots of vinyl from them and this is their first ever blunder, so I'll let it go and just put it down to bad luck.'. Fool that I am!

Anyway, a few months later I decided I wanted a copy of Underworld- Dark & Long (Dark Train mix). A classic tune from the movie ‘Trainspotting’. And it was available to buy from HTFR at a cost of £15.00 including shipping ($22.00 US). When it finally arrived, I was once again appalled! It looked like I had been ripped off in nearly the exact same fashion. The quality was crap again and it was quite obvious that I had been sold a copy of their copy, which they must have been holding for ransom in their shop! And I had been charged yet another ridiculous amount of money!! At least this time it was the full version… By this point I was getting more and more annoyed with these cowboys and subsequently shopping for vinyl at other (better!) sources…

Now I’m not 100% sure if this 3rd blunder was down to HTFR, but with their track record it wouldn’t surprise me…

A short while later, I decided that I wanted Members Of Mayday- 10 in 01. When this was released in the UK it was over 2 different vinyls with different mixes on each. So at around £7.00 each, it would cost over £14.00 ($20.00 US) to own both, because of shipping. So I went online and did my usual search to find it, and in the end everywhere was sold out except for 2 places…. HTFR and recordstore.com. Each of them had 1 of the vinyls, so I made an order from each of these stores. The 1 from recordstore.com arrived, swiftly and in the original sleeve and everything. The one from HTFR arrived a few days later in some crappy (obviously copied), cheap sleeve. But it had the right mixes listed on it so I didn’t mind too much. Now if this is down to HTFR then they were really sly this time, cos the vinyl was fairly good quality sound and it even had the right mixes printed on the label… it was just like the 1 I got from recordstore.com but labelled with the other mixes. When it actually came down to listening to the tunes, it would appear they had correctly copied the Paul Van Dyk Club mix onto the vinyl… but the other 2 mixes were supposed to be on the other vinyl! So I’d bought a record expecting the Tok Tok remix and the EK mix only to find I now had 2 copies of Paul Van Dyk Short mix and the PvD members only mix! Unbelievable! So this time HTFR had ripped me off for about £9.00 ($13.00 US). £7.00 for the record and £2.00 for the shipping. Now if I’m wrong about this then I apologise to HTFR for making them look bad. But let’s face it, after the other 2 huge blunders it wouldn’t exactly shock me to the core if they were responsible!

So, in total, I feel they have ripped me off for £38.00 ($55.00 US). Maybe I should have learnt my lesson the first time around… but I didn’t and so I paid the price (literally!). So it’s up to you guys if you still wanna use this record store for buying vinyl… I can only tell you what has happened to me and pray that you don’t! I know I will never buy from these guys again.

lateRZ,

barryfigiel

Atleast they are true to there name.... Hard to find Records....... i never heard of records that bad...LOL

heh

a little bad experience with www.cdzone.co.uk ...

ok here it goes

i ordered two vinyls in october. one they had in stock, one backorder..

ok i know backorders take a while, so ok, im patient.
then after one month they send me a mail that they can't get a copy of the backorder, so i cancel it, and tell them to despatch the other vinyl asap.

then after 1 week they tell me that my cc details are wrong.. ok, i go to the site, log in and change them to the exactly same that stood there.. should be ok now

10th of december they charge my visa, and when i see that i expect to get the vinyl very soon.

now, 1 month later than that, i still ain't got no vinyl.. i wonder wtf?
i log in again, and what does it say there? they still haven't despatched the viny... wtf?? but they have charged me??

ok, i need to email them
i go to their info section at their site and try to find out how i can contact them through email

what do i find?

By email: Please reply to the email address which confirmed your order for instructions of how to contact us by email (we do not publish the address on our web site to stop it being picked up by spammers).

ok fair enough... i go to my inbox and find an old mail, find out the email adress and send them an email about the situation..

after 15 min i get a reply.. wow i think , finally they do something pretty quick..

but...

when i read the mail.. automated piece of shit.. tells me to go back to the site and report through my account.
ok, i log in again and push the report missing item/not recieved item link..
what happens? .....nothing..
i just get back to the page where it says that the vinyl is ready to despatch..

what to do now..

aijt

i have to make an int. phonecall for one fucking vinyl.. ending up paying the same price for the phonecall as i do for the vinyl..

stupid fucking cdzone

I didn't trawl through the whole mail but I would recommend above the sky records, if for the quality of their website alone. Chemical is beaut but it can get a little samey seeing all those tunes reduced to yellow writing. On above the sky you see a picture of the vinyl centre and a bit of an honest description usually. Deffo worth a look - and slightly cheaper than Chemical in my experience too.

www.abovethesky.com

good label too!!

Posted by Nemesis44 on Feb-02-2004 12:46:

Why oh why?

Why the hell did I bother ordering from HTFR again?

Because they were the only people on the whole fecking web who had a copy of the track I wanted... and that's the only way I would touch them.

I order tons of records every month and get sent a ton more as promos.
It is rare that I ever have any problems with any of the vinyl that comes through my letter box.

But buy one record from HTFR... it's covered in crap has dents in it, and the record itself is such low quality that I'm starting to suspect that they cut their own vinyl on the cheap somewhere or at least buy dodgy bootlegs plus it took 4 days to arrive. But then I didn't use the extra special uber platinum rip off rates.

Up yours HTFR!

Cheers
Nem

nem- next time you are in brum chek out their store...The amount of represses and dodgy records of dubious origin they stock is quite high.....Loads of legit stuff too- but it pissed off no end when i ordered some old stuff listed as 'rare and back in stock' and it was a shitty repress taken from a really poor Mp3

Quite surprised they havent been shopped for MAJOR copyright infringement before...

i'm about to order a lot of records at www.3beat.co.uk , but i have some questions before i do. They have a great selection of records, but the prices are high, right? Especially for shipping them to holland. How long will that take. Has someone experience with them?

I cannot say i am all that happy with my order from them. I ordered six records; after 1 month i had not received them so i contacted them and they said not all where in stock and they where holding them so they could ship them all at once, which seemed reasonable to me.

After 1.5 months i received 2 of the records. After 2.5 months i received two more. And then just the other day i received 1 more, after nearly 4 months of waiting. The last of the six they say is unobtainble, but is listed on their site as in stock. Obviously they do not stock what they have listed on their site as 'in stock'. I ended up paying a bunch for shipping too because they sent my order in 3 parts. The records did arrive in good shape, but nonetheless, i will not be ordering from them again.

Posted by sndh on Feb-03-2004 13:16:

hmm too bad, now i would feel bad about ordering from them. Does someone have another recordstore with a bit of the same stock as 3beat does have? Release Records?

I was similarly dissapointed because no other stores i have found have the nice stock of progressive that they do ... errr , in my experienc it was the stock of progressive they claim to have.

Posted by sndh on Feb-03-2004 21:57:

it's so unfair, the do have the best stock on progressive i;'ve seen so far on paper, but as u have this bad experience, i am not sure to take the risk....rather go to a store then, although the best one is many miles... does anyone have more experience with 3beat?>

Link Records, Italy

I ordered from these guys and they said this...

quote:

Thanks for your order Jesse, by the way it seem that your card has not
enough funds for it.

In order to pay by AMERICAN EXPRESS, VISA or MASTERCARD you should be so
kind to email me your credit card details in two or more separate
emails.

I mainly need the card number, the expiration day and the cardholder
name.

The card is platinum and never had insufficient funds for a 20 dollar purchase...that looks way dodgy.

if you wanna check it out www.link-records.com
