It makes you wonder though. If last year, topping out at about 91-92 the first half and 88-89 the second half, he had such a great year... imagine what he could've done if he still had that 97 MPH fastball and pitched the way he does now.

Im not afraid to agree either, his numbers in a batters era are amazing. I posed that question to alot of other people and I got Nolan Ryan and Clemens as answers, they are great, but Pedro has just been so consistently dominant its rediculous.

And my friend, nobody maintains a 97mph fastball after over a decade pitching in the majors. But I am surprised hes not throwing in the low 90's, he probably does but not all the way through.

I don't expect him to. But he went straight from 97 to 89. And no, he doesn't throw low 90's. If he REALLLLLY needs to, he can hit 92. But he does that about once every 3 or 4 games. He's consistently 86-89.

Nolan Ryan is SO overrated.

The only reason why Nolan is mentioned is because he could throw a fastball 100mph and the fact that he pretty much struck out everyone that walked up to the plate. You gotta admit, he is 1,000 SO's ahead of the person in 2nd who happens to be Clemens, its impressive.

Yep. I just think he's overrated. Not saying he's bad. But he's not nearly as good as the general perception of him is.

Also... he had 7 no-hitters. All after being traded from the Mets. The Mets, as a franchise, have none.

Barry Bonds was a ridiulous hitter in the 90's. Don't hate because he wasn't a Yankee or because he did steroids late in his career.

Fact of the matter is the numbers at the end of a career, whether they were injured or went to war. And no matter what you say - there is no hitter feared more, since the days of the Bambino, than Barry Bonds. There is a reason why he leads major league history in base on balls. The guy tee's off on base balls (unlike alot of the pure hitters of the game) and if he reaches on base, if hes healthy - hes likely to steal a base.

Barry Bonds was the best All Around player in baseball since Willie Mays.

Which is silly. Regardless of what happened between 97-99 with Bonds, he was one of the greatest players EVER before then. Forget just the hitting... (1.000+ OPS from 1992 - Now). But he has 500 career Stolen Bases. And he has however many gold gloves. Do you know how hard it is for a Left Fielder to win a Gold Glove?
