Cards sure didn't look like it after giving up 33 runs in 2 games to the White Sox. It's also a shame that in the third game, the Cards pitcher had a 1-hitter but lost.

9 in a row for my sox

Henry Owens called up to the Mets. Probably not for long...

i figured out what's wrong with the braves this year. chip carray. he shows up in the booth and bam, 13 or whatever years of division titles goes down the drain. if history has shown us anything it's that the braves are going to be in a constant rebuilding stage until he leaves.

Braves announcers are the most boring on the planet! I want to shoot myself listening to those guys. They wouldn't get excited if Andruw Jones hit a game winning HR in the 7th game of the world series.

LOL ... I dont get influenced by their announcing. I do all the cheering and celebrating myself (not in the World Series, though, ts been a while for that)!

i thought you'd fall asleep before even conjuring up those thoughts

Dear Atlanta Braves,

Give us Andruw Jones and we'll take out Chip for you.

Sincerely,

The Chicago White Sox

Hey whats up guys. Long time no post, i apologize ,I havent had much time lately, considering the fact I have a new part time job broadcasting the Nationals games on a local AM station

hehe, kinda wonky but it's cool, i get to hear the games and this is a great resume builder.

I'm still following my Nats and everyone keeps saying that the trade with the Reds was "brilliant". except we need pitching, not more outfielders.

Its a shame to see Gary Majewski and Bill Bray leave, Bray is going to be awesome in a couple years. But this leads me to believe that Soriano is next on the trade. He might go to the Yankees but we need to get a good starting pitcher in return and considering the Yankees bullpen right now, I doubt that'll happen.

Anways that's all I got right now. Hope everyone is doing well.

NEVER! We are not going to give you our star players! Jones boys STAY!

Twins have come all the way back and caught the White Sox, for a 3-way tie of the AL wild card lead (though that will change after the Yankees finish their game tonight)
Amazing how hot the Twins have been, and how much the ChiSox have been scuffling.

It's also interesting how the AL has all the stud rookie pitchers, and the NL don't have squat. The AL has Liriano, Jered Weaver, Verlander and others. I'm sure many thought Cole Hamels would be like that for the Phillies and the NL, but that has not panned out.

I think this is telling of how sad the pitching in the NL has been-
Glavine hasn't won in over a month, but is still tied for 2nd in wins
Pedro hasn't pitched in over a month, but is still in the top 10 in strikeouts

Suuposedly, Yuliesky Gourriel defected and is in Columbia right now. And, again supposedly, he's already signed a contract with the Yankees. I find the second part extremely hard to believe. If he really defected, there will be a lot more hoopla and contracts flying from the Mets, Yanks, Dodgers, Cubs, Cardinals, Red Sox... etc. Doubt he'd sign with the Yanks before hearing other offers.

Pat Burrell is on the trading block??? I must have missed this one... I was reading his yahoo notepad... won't go to the O's... only will waive his no-trade if he goes to NYY or the Sox....lol... I don't think either team will take him.... who is he kidding...

Pat the Bat sucks, exactly opposite of the player the Yanks need. All or nothing.

he's nothing more than Preston Wilson dipped in vanilla

Posted by Shamez214 on Jul-30-2006 06:43:

Meh... nevermind about Youliesky. False report... He's still a Cuban.

Posted by King Ecnal on Jul-30-2006 15:52:

Abreu to the yanks a done deal...?

wtf... and Matsui will be back... makings of a flop... I hope they finish 3rd in the AL East...

Posted by King Ecnal on Jul-31-2006 18:02:

holy shit... Sox offered the Braves Crisp and shitters for ANDRUW!!!

but the Braves want Lester... so that ain't happening....

Sox: Tejada, Soriano, Oswalt, Andruw....

2 hours left....

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Jul-31-2006 18:11:

yeah i saw they offered the Braves Hansen, who is an awesome prospect and another player..but Braves keep insisting on Lester..odd

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Jul-31-2006 19:23:

Mets traded Xavier Nady for Oliver Perez and Roberto hernandez. Xavier is such a key bat in the lineup and Perez is trash...bad trade

Posted by Member of X on Jul-31-2006 19:33:

Oliver Perez is trash!

Stole this from the ESPN chat, he's given up 6 HRs in 32 IP in Triple-A and just gave up 8 runs in 1/3 of an inning in his last start.

Enjoy...

Posted by King Ecnal on Jul-31-2006 21:18:

as I figured... no big deals on the deadline day... same old story.....

I'm glad the sox didn't get stupid and trade for Soriano... no room for his ass... and why even bother with the guy... I would have liked Andruw though... just cause he's a showboater in CF....

And today shows that Roger Clemens does in fact run the Astros front office...

why is the National League such a trainwreck... Reds, D'Backs and Brewers top 3 in the Wild Card.... what a disgrace...

Posted by Shamez214 on Jul-31-2006 22:31:

I love the Nady for Berto/Perez trade. Nady was nothing special and not much better than Chavez/Edge will be and not even close defensively. Perez could easily turn it around. Remember, he's only 24. Good trade by Omar.

This trade also further shows that Omar and company have the tightest lips of any teams front office. Omar got word of Dirty's accident at 2AM. If word got out, he would've had to give up a lot more to recieve relief help.

actually it's the Giants in 3rd in the Wild Card race

it looks like the big trades (Abreu, Carlos Lee, Sean Casey) will make the NL even weaker
as it is now, only 5 teams in the NL are over .500

Posted by Member of X on Aug-01-2006 01:07:

"Perez was 2-10 with a 6.63 ERA in 15 starts for Pittsburgh this season before being optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on June 29. In six minor league starts, he was 1-3 with a 5.63 ERA. He releases pitches from all angles and arm slots, and that leads to big variations in his velocity. He was regularly in the 97 mph range in 2004, but now often drops into the high 80s."

At least his WHIP was good this year at 1.83. That's probably the worst whip on the planet.

Sorry I'm not buying. Still, Nady isn't special anyway and Roberto H can be a decent middle guy to replace Dirty. I'm not saying that it wasn't a good trade. Just I think Perez is garbage and I'll stand by that.
