Sonic

After reading the reviews, I now know why nothing really works in Toronto. I am from Montreal and at Stereo at least once a week, a home grown 'family' member; a little after 10 am I remember looking around the dancefloor and saying to myself "David has somehow managed to build another Stereo...". Nothing will ever be Stereo, but for me to even put sonic on a level remotly close to it is incredible.

The later it got, the more it looked and felt like home. It was a great experience and something Toronto needs. If you guys let it, this place can do wonders. Let David do his job, he has changed my life and I hope he can give you guys a fraction of what he gave me in montreal.

peace

Its not about class, or style or any of that bullshit.
Its about the music- as cheezy as that sounds.

As long as everyone on that floor is on the same evel as far as how they are feeling the music, the vibe will be at its best.

nice to meet you Elie, i hope you enjoyed your time here, we need you guys to come here more often.

all i have to say is WHOAA!!

people complaining about shirtless gay men at a Knuckles/Morales jam simply boggles the mind. i can understand complaints about lineups, excessive wait times, staff complaints, cover pricing, etc. (it's to be expected really. you can't please everyone especially at a Grand Opening where some mayhem, whether fabricated or not is usually bound to occur.) i'm not saying anyone was at fault and i'm not defending anyone either. i'm impartial and had nothing to do with this event just to be clear but complaining about the people who are there enjoying themselves and getting down to the music they love? get a grip.

What an amazing night. Didn't really wait in line, managed to get in about 10 minutes which was nice. Wasn't feeling that well when I first got there, and the tunes were not so great, but the club was definately going nuts. Once Frankie came on, the night just flew away. Opening night surpassed my expectations completely. It feels great to be home again, I definately know where the majority of my Saturday nights are going to be spent now. As for the shirtless carwash crew... I don't like it so much, but the vibe they give the club is unreal, so I'm willing to put up with it.

i think the point people are trying to make is that they don't want to deal with it, and they shouldn't have to deal with it... i'm sorry, but absorbing other people's sweat is just disguisting

Its part of the scene... We dance, we sweat, we bump into each other... Just shower when you get home... It's not pleasant, but if ya don't want to deal with it... just go to a posh place and you won't have to.

I like going to places to get dirty...

im glad some of you are understanding what a club like this is all about. Those of you who dont , just stay away because you will never get it.Stick to fluffy guv nights.
And Mr.Floorwhore, if you dont get the fuck down like a madman and smell like a rabid farm animal you just arent trying hard enough...
For shame

only Republik promoters carry Axe around...they also listen to Abba

Just to play devils advocate here.....as long as you are enjoying the music it is alright for people to dance with their shirts off.

Now...instead of taking my shirt off I decided that I like to show how much I love the music by spitting Pepsi up in the air and spin around in a circle and cover everyone around me with Pepsi that would be okay?

Personally, I don't really care but to say everyone should just accept that......isn't really the answer...if it bothers people then they are not going to enjoy their night out.....I agree people can find an area on the dance floor that is not as shirtless.

People are trying to describe Sonic as an afterhours underground dirty club....just look at the amazing work done inside....I think they have tried to get away from the dark dirty System Sound Bar feel here.

Review to come tomorrow - too busy tonight.

Quick note re: shirtless men - It's pretty useless to complain about them. I'm pretty sure it would be detrimental to Sonic to enforce a "shirts on" policy given the clientelle.

No matter what you do people will still complain.. and thats fine because everyone is different and unique . i myself like to go to a club. and yes i go for the music and no i dont wanna be around the typical "comfort zone shirts off everyone whacked going crazy" type of feel but thats just me . and i respect those who like it because most of my freidns are into that shit ! i myself perfer the Hotel boutique and The Drink kinda places personally. i dunno i guess i just feel better in that environment but yea everyone has to have their own opinion
