I do believe it is his wish to have that released. As he has said before, never stop recording. I seriously doubt it would be 'released' without the consent of the family or discovery. There were only a few people on that boat and one cameraman. Even tho the video was turned over to authorities... it would be blantantly obvious who 'released' it.

Do you honestly think he would have wanted the entire world to see him die?

Can you imagine the turmoil his children would go through? They would never be able to escape the constant image of their father dying. Likly there would be awful kids in school mocking them and saying "I saw your dad die", and anytime they would go on the internet, it would be a constant lingering fear that they would, yet again, fall upon the video where their father came to his demise.

Not to mention, this video will, as someone already suggested, make it to the internet where many heartless people will make parodies, and jokes.

Someones death is not to be taken lightly. Showing his death to millions of desensitized viewers who can hardly distinguish the difference between hollywood production and reality, would be horribly disrespectful, and surely it will be incredibly painful for his family.

That is so terrible. I think the video should be destroyed. Irwin was an icon that people identified and empathized with. Watching a video like that, you're watching someone die and it being someone like Irwin is going to make it all the more dramatic.

I don't think most people will understand what they're going to see until after they see it and probably regret they did. Plus if the video is released it most certainly will find its way onto the net and then it'll never go away. Its fun to make jokes, and thats part of the coping process, but I really don't think Irwin deserved to have his death made a spectacle like that.

Also think of his family, that'd be revolting if one of them stumbled on it unsuspectingly.

i concur

According to numerous news reports yes.

quote:

Steve had always ordered his crew to carry on filming even if he was mauled to death.

So the graphic footage showing Steve, 44, being speared to death off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is set for a sensational broadcast.
Queensland Police seized the tapes as the death sent shockwaves around the world.

But it is understood Steve’s family have vowed to grant the real-life Crocodile Dundee his "dying wish".

Steve famously said: "My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it’s shaky or slightly out of focus, I don’t give a rip!

From what I have heard he has stated many times if the croc bites my head off keep the film rollin. Not sure if he was joking when he said it or what even but im sure that is where people are getting this from.

Call me sick or whatever i kinda want to see it. I just went swiming with stingrays and i was right on top of one and even came close to touching one. I think it would be a good learning experience on what not to do. Maybe he got to close maybe he spooked it by stiring up sand or whatever. I dont think the video should be used to make fun of him or funny skits or stupid gifs and what not should be made, it should be used as a learning tool.

Wouldn't it be better if the picture with Irwin tackling the football player was pointing at the field instead of the stands?

The thing is, whether it should be used as a learning tool or not, it will be used to humiliate his family, and to make fun of something that should not be made fun of.

In comedy, nothing is sacred. I say the first step would be to put Yakety Sax as background music, because it makes everything funny, like in this video.

They can show the video as a special add on to the next UFC fight!!!

I think sting-rays will be classified very dangerous from now on.. like in the category of sharks and stuff.. and before diving will people will ask

' their are no sharks and ummmm stingrays in these waters, right?'

Driving Instructer: No mam, there are no stingrays in water, its safe.

RIP Mr. Irwin

i was very sad to hear this

Posted by emc^2 on Sep-06-2006 01:28:

I wonder if Mr. Irvin qualifies for Darwin Award. If you don't know what I mean, see www.darwinawards.com.

He was a silly, likable guy but I'm sure a guy like that knew that sooner or later he would not die of natural causes. It's like a professional motorcycle racer or formula 1 pilot or suicide bomber - you know that one day will be your last and you will be the only one to blame for your choice of "career".

At least the man didn't live a boring life and his "regular day at the office" would beat most of ours.

When I heard the news I was sad... but I also had evil images in my head: picture of Irvin saying like "OMG NO WAI!!!" and stingray sayng "WAI!!! pwn3d, bitch!!! LOL!"

josh4 was saying that the footage of him dying is skeptical. All I was saying is that it is not skeptical, but rather definitively caught on tape. That video I posted shows the producer at a press conference confirming the fact Steve Irwin's death was caught on tape and that had seen the tape himself. The video I posted does not show Steve Irwin dying. They were only discussing it.

Stolen from PDD, who inturn stoled it from Scott Adams:

I was shocked when I heard the news that the Crocodile Hunter died in a freak stingray accident. I had ten dollars bet on misjudged the speed of a crocodile. Something tells me that the media already had his obituary written with a fill-in-the-blank for the specific creature that killed him.

Readers of the Dilbert Blog know that I believe death is not a laughing matter, unless the guy who gets killed is in the process of bothering dangerous animals. And by animals I include all manner of aquatic, flying, stinging, clawing, bitey things. When someone gets killed doing that sort of thing, its a good lesson for the kids. I think it lends credibility when you tell them not to pet strange dogs that are foaming at the mouth. Dont pet that dog, Timmy. If you do, you might be killed by an entirely different animal that is not normally considered dangerous. Remember the Crocodile Hunter.

I remind you that the Crocodile Hunter is the same guy who in 2004 famously fed wild crocodiles with one hand while holding his infant son in the other. Just be glad the Croc Hunter didnt have triplets because you know he would have tried juggling them.

It seems weird to me that the stingray that got him is now the worlds most famous aquatic creature and doesnt even know it. Hes probably floating around eating kelp or whatever-the-hell stingrays eat, oblivious to the fact that hes as famous as O.J. I hope he gets a book deal because Id like to hear his side of the story. I realize that stingrays have brains the size of a dried raisin, but that doesnt stop athletes from writing books. All you need is a good co-author.

STINGRAY: Well, I was minding my own business, eating kelp or whatever-the-hell I eat, when this guy jumps in the water and yells Crikey! like a crazy seal. So I killed him and then hired a co-author who is both handsome and talented. You will find his contact information in the back of this well-written book.

--Scott Adams

p.s. looks like Scott yanked it from his site (tho it remains in google cache )

I'm going to repent for my satirical post in the political thread.

I really loved watching this guy on animal planet growing up, and he will be dearly missed. I feel bad for his wife and chilluns and hope they will be ok.

RIP matey.
