What I'm trying to say is if they originally posted that cover was going to be $25...I'd have no problem paying that.
But the fact that it was ADVERTISED as $20 is a little bit annoying. I know other ppl had to go and take out extra cash at the white label ATM's and stuff.
If Ultraspin was $75, I'd gladly pay that...as long as it was advertised at that price.
btw...this should have nothing to do with Tiesto...haha

everything EDM has to do with Tiesto...he is what all other DJs want to be....he is the Wayne Gretzky of EDM.....little children all over the world and telling their parents they want to grow up and be just like Tiesto....just as Armin...he's been trying for years.

It's pretty obvious that he's complaining about the fact that the advertised price after 11pm was $20, and when he got to the door, he finds out that it is $25 instead. That is a shady business tactic. Comparing the value of these two events, and which one was more "worth the money" has nothing to do with the issue at hand. The issue at hand is that they unexpectedly jacked up the price, which is shady.

We all know that $25 is still a steal with this great line-up.... the point is they advertised it as $20, but didnt end up keeping their word... like yeah its only 5 bucks but it still pissed me off, plus the fact that the KH was the only way to get in if you werent on guestlist (well at least when i showed up this was the case) was a pain in the ass.... especially seeing that it took 20 mins to get from KH to Guv cuz it was so fucking overcrowded

Thank you...thats exactly what I was trying to convey. I'm still a little tired and don't want to be a work...

I was also a little frustrated as I was suppose to get on the reduced but we ran into transportation problems and missed that (not your fault Geli..damn subway doing construction)...

u clearly did not get the point

when u decide to go somewhere u figure our how much u can spend and whether or not u can afford it... I went there thinkin it'd be 15-20 bux.. i was hopin to make it for 15 cuz even 20 was a bit too much for me... but 25
might not seem alot to some ppl but yea im just that broke
its kindda trickin ppl to pay more.. cuz when uve spent all the time and effort to get there ur not gonna go back ur like i might as well pay this much and just go in, especially when its frigin freeeezin

EDIT: ugh 34454534 ppl made comments before this... now im jsut repeatin wat everyone else said.... wasted my time writin this for nothing

pretty well put Graham

had no idea it was $25 after 11

Posted by ChemEnhanced on Feb-26-2007 02:09:

The club has the right to change the cover if they want.....I am not saying its right that it was increased but we have all seen other clubs do things a lot worse then raise the price an extra $5

Thats true..they can do whatever they feel like. But I can still be frustrated over it! I'm far from poor..just the principle of raising it 25%! But still...

Definitely worth the $25...

($5 if you count the $20)

Sorry, but the club does not have any right to do that. As far as I know, jacking up the price at the last second, even though you advertised a different price is illegal.

Just because other clubs have done it in the past doesn't mean The Guvernment has the right to do it. The Guvernment is one of the most, if not the most high profile club in Toronto. I wouldn't expect such petty business tactics such as this that other shady clubs take part in from a club like The Guvernment.

give me a break, how is paying 5 bucks more is a jacked up price.. It is shady but i dont think people should be having a problem paying 5bucks more for an event like this. If you have a problem then don't go in, right? no one is forcing you to.I understand people budget stuff out etc but we don't know what caused the "jacked up price". Could be anything like a wrong calculation of a budget etc, there was some very expensive djs in that line up, like Sander K and a few others.. where else in the world you can see so many good djs for 25 bucks? my point is he's acting like he got ripped off or something.

no its not illegal because people agree to pay the price when they go in.

it rocked.
kthx

Posted by smuncky on Feb-26-2007 02:26:

i was kinda upset by that as well. we were getting checked by security just as they changed the price to $25 from $20, but i'm pretty used to having to pay more than usual when going to guv/KH. i think i only paid the advertised price a couple of times.

There is nothing illegal about jacking up the price beyond as advertised.

But it is very unethical practice.

As long as the demand is there, the Guv can jack it up as much as they want and get away with it.

Yes, it's only 5 bucks but I'd be more hesitant to give my money to a business that does false advertising

$5 bucks more isn't really that much of a jacked up price...eventhough it is an increase of 25%.
I just don't understand why they didn't just advertise the price of $25 instead of $20?

Did they think if they advertised $25 they wouldn't have received the same turnout? Maybe all of the Orange Room crew wouldn't have come or something...but still.

It's not illegal as in they are not forcing you to pay $25...
I'm sure you could try and hassle them into paying $20 with the flyer...but they'd probably just kick you out as they have the right to kick out whoever they want.

come on now, it is extremely rare that guv does something like this, probably the first time at an Ulra Spin. There are way more places that do this and get away with it on a regular basis.

Again, it's not about the fact that the event was $25 and was too expensive, it's about the fact that they jacked up the price from the advertised price.

Miscalculation of the budget is no excuse. "Oh sorry guys, we're going to have to charge you $250 for this play, and not $200. We miscalculated the price." Sound about right?

Again, this point is not about value here. I agree, it is a good value. The point is that they jacked up the price, meaning he did indeed get ripped off.

its not about names, its about the music and fun!
In MY opinion Robb G outperformed everyone last night! for me HE IS A HIGH CLASS DJ... to each his own, you are right.
and I did venture out of the gallery to see Sander in the main room, but sorry I got bored 10 minutes after, so got back to the gallery to see Jelo blowing the motherfuckin roof off! I didnt see M&S last night, as per Sydney. I dont care about other dj's when she is on, deal with that

if it doesnt make sense to you, well, im sorry, maybe u care about brands more than you care about quality time...

to each his own

peace
