I didn't have too bad of a time. Hanging out with the e-tards was fun for the most part. Much of the crowd was dude-bro n00bs who really were the dregs of society, but once you got past that and were able to mingle outside of the incredibly clueless crowd, it wasn't too bad.

Posted by DrewStylz on Sep-15-2007 16:06:

Glad I didn't go. I saw him back in Nov. He was good.... Not great, but pretty good. The two times I saw him before that, once in DC in 02 and once in Charlotte in 04.......... he was fuckin bad ass. I mean the dude was amazing. Oh well. Lookin forwardto markus in two weeks in Toronto.

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Sep-15-2007 16:23:

I had a great time cause I was with friends, although we had this short buzz kill for a while when friend's friend friend dropped a few too many and was flopping around the bleachers like a fish out of water.

Music honestly didn't move me too much.

Oh, and that entrance line was retarded. Thank God it wasn't raining for those who had to wait in it. For once I'm glad I didn't do will call

The sound system was sick. The smell of idiots was miasmal. Ian had the only fuck up I noticed of the night where it sounded like he accidentally hit a fader for the cued track and decided to just go with it which was utterly jarring. Tijs had quick mixes as to be expected, and the video part to the show is mind-blowingly stupid. Believe it or not, the e-tards were the most fun to hang around simply because they weren't retarded, drunk Tijsfags. The crowd itself was awful, and to stand in it was to dehydrate yourself both physically and mentally. Ian's set was alright, and Tijs set was decent in my opinion, but then again I didn't really spend too much time listening to it intently since I was actually mingling about.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were people that needed to be rushed to by the EMTs. There were PLENTY of pills around, and PLENTY of people on them. I met one of the guys selling them and he was selling them at a decent price for a club ($15), and they apparently were potent enough because the back third of the club that was sitting down were all fucked out of their heads.

Posted by DrewStylz on Sep-15-2007 16:28:

The Asian dude in the white shirt doesn't look all that fucked up, Jk. I think he is impersonating me at a show. That's my stee occasionally.

Posted by TheKidsWantTechno on Sep-15-2007 16:46:

so basically, unless you were there just to dick around and have fun with friends, it sounds like you HAD to get fucked up to enjoy the show

Basically. When you actually took your attention away from the music, the music wasn't so bad -_-

Funniest part of the night was the wait in line. I was up towards the front and with a group of already drunk, clueless, and devoted Tijsfags. One guy said "I'm new to this techno thing, does Tiesto have any tracks better than 'Sandstorm'?". Then the other three guys in front of him started saying that Tiesto was their idol, "no one is better, I mean, look at how large the crowd is, Tiesto is god", that "Armin is getting better, he used to suck", and then yelling at the Liquified lady who was trying to get people to sign up for their email spam brigade saying that "Tiesto hasn't been here in five years and your site said so!".

For some reason, two out of five of those guys kept running into me at the club too. They just would not go away.

i was there with 6 friends... we showed up at 12:50 and the line was huuuuuuge. i mean it was really long. luckly 5 out of the 7 of us had vip so i just walked right up to one of the police officers and he let all 7 of us in immediately. got into the stage area, made our way to the center front, directly underneath that circular air vent and stayed there from 1:00 - 4:00. tijs literally went on 5 minutes after we got inside so the timing was perfect... managed to leave during the last 20 seconds of adagio and got a taxi immediately, so that all worked out fine and dandy. too bad i never went to the vip section and too bad i never used any of my drink tickets... from what i heard they stopped serving alcohol around 2. also, if my math is correct, tijs didn't play anywhere near the advertised length.

oh and now i'm deaf... it was loud!

highlight for me was saltwater - the legacy (alphazone remix).

Yeah, the set up / sound was pretty impressive, but I think if we weren't just hanging out and drunk / otherwise inebriated it would have sucked. It was an experience, though... I'll take that sound system in my car.

Oh yeah, I think everyone who entered one of those restrooms should go get their health checked now =P

Posted by PatMcGroin on Sep-15-2007 17:57:

lol, good review promo, thats kinda how i figured itd be. glad you could still have a good time. people need to realize tiesto isnt the same but you can still have fun as long as you dont expect some legendary set.

setup looks pretty sweet though, kinda wish i coulda made it.

I knew to stay away from the bathrooms. 5,000 drunken 'tards pissing and shitting all over a condensed area just isn't my fort. I was wondering if they had televisions above the urinals so you could keep watching Tijswrecks, but apparently this was not the case.

As for the sound. It was GREAT during Ian's set. They turned it up needlessly loud during Tiesto's set which kinda muffled the quality. This was probably done on purpose. Because during Ian's set I could quite literally hear even the slightest bass mismatch. Tiesto's set seemed almost flawlessly mixed, and I can only attribute that to the sound being muffled due to loudness.

I loved how during Ian's set they kept using the itunes visual effects on the giant televisions. It worked better than Tiesto's horses, command-prompt crap, and random Asian lady doing facial expressions, but they had to keep fading out of it when the Apple logo would appear.

Another thing that annoyed me was every time people started shouting for Tiesto during Ian's set. Even at around 10:30

Then there was this one high-pitched *presumably gay* black guy who roughly every ten minutes would shout "IS THAT HIM?! IS THAT TIESTO?!!"

That reminds me, what the fuck was up with that moment of what looked like hundreds of glow sticks started literally ERUPTING from the crowd?! I had a hard enough time trying to dance without tripping over bottles, beer cans, and random pairs of shoes in the middle of the floor, and then it was a downpour of plastic hitting my face.

This is exactly what I said to myself when I left.

"Well, that was an experience."

Still having a little trouble hearing after that one. I thought it was a great set. Didn't play some I was hoping for, but still played some really good stuff. A lot of messed up people there, a few pretty annoying people, but I didn't find too many annoying ones where I was. Was anyone else a little surprised he only played until 4? I was wondering what was going on when he took of his headphones and signed them at around 3:45. Wasn't it advertised to be longer? Oh well, it was still an awesome time. I can't complain.

ian james was amazing but tiesto was horrible for the most part.

sadly the crowd didn't show ian any respect and just chanted for tiesto. this, the idiotic crowd composed of clubbers (and only a few true edm fan), and tiesto's poor performance lead me to a angry and negative trip off of 2c-e. i'm a huge tiesto fan but i walked away very disappointed with the show.

i also think liquified was to blame for the show last night. they initially billed this event in may as tiesto + more to be announced. recently they changed it to tiesto with an extended set. but he only played from 1am to 4 am (the event was scheduled until 5am. ian james went on again). i'm sorry liquified, but 3 hours is not an extended set. this shit better not happen with G&D.

basically, teisto sucked last night but you should still listen to isos 6. its an amazing cd. its a bit chilled out. he only played a few songs from it last night. those songs and a few others were the few good portions of his set. hopefully he can redeem himself when he does his isos 6 tour.

Oh, I left at 3am or so because I had had my fill. He only played until 4am? Haha! Epic fail. Talk about false advertising. Unless Tiesto decided he only wanted to play for three hours, which I wouldn't put that past him.

Posted by MetalXSlug on Sep-15-2007 21:19:

I had never been to anything like that before, just bars and some clubs in Atlatna. I guess I'm the club demographic you guys all hate, but for the most part it was a lot of fun. The lines for the bar were fucking crazy, people cutting in line to let 8 of their friends get in. I went into the guys bathroom and was greeted by like 8 chicks who I guess sit around watching dudes taking a piss.

The floor was gross after about 5 minutes, I have gum and a cigarette stuck to my shoe now.

I don't know if I would go do something like that again, well not without taking some drugs first. It was really cool to see a lot of people getting into the music though. Saw lots of glow stick dancers and plenty of slutty girls in cool dance outfits.
