Hi Mantiz,

I did get a message from the guy, I had to send him my log-in and password or something... But how do I know what my password is?

I think you can choose you're login and password so that he can register your personal login for the ftp...?

Uh, i'm here lol. If you want an account send me a pm or email with a demo of something you've done. If i've overlooked someone it's my fault, gota remind me. Please checkout the "More to come" post by me, i'm working on setting up a much cleaner way of showcasing stuff.

@Vizay

I remember earlier you were talking about reproducing those Ayla type synths like the one in Angel Falls etc. Any luck? All those Ayla (Tandu) songs sound so clean. Everything is phat.

What do the others think about this ?

cosmic gate tracks are very sparse in their mix and mastered to make them sound huge.
ferry corstens riffs have great use of the kind of arpeggiators that you find on most hardware synths (something sorely lacking on their software counterparts) eg- system f out of the blue is easy to achieve playing the chords through a certain arp pattern and a certain preset in th Access Virus....Easy peasy!! Im not knockin soft synths cos you can achieve the same results in the end, but hardware makes inspiation a lot easier to come about!!!

Posted by Mod1 on Jan-05-2003 03:34:

after just reading more of this forum, it seems theres a lot of people really hung up and struggling to get the sounds that they really want out of their soft synths. they also want to achieve the sounds of their fave records, holding these sounds up as if they are some unachieveable work of god or something....!

FACT - most are hardware synth presets!!!

to think that ferry corsten sits around all day creating new sounds is a load of shit ---- he has a work schedule to keep!!! its his livelyhood!! when he starts a tune he finds a cool sound on a hardware synth and tweaks it a bit. job fucking done!!

now..... i got a good idea for a forum or thread. name that tune!! then name that sound...then get some smug git like me who has the hardware to post a nice sample of it!!!!

sampling doesnt quite always work how you want it but its a start!!

anyone agree? i might even start putting some samples on my website to get the ball rolling...

if this gets enough interest ill start a new thread and see if we can make it a sticky!!!!

Modular...let me defend what these people are trying to do and agree with you at the same time.

I think that in the trance genre it is important to be original. Especially, it is important to have original sounds. If we can learn how to emulate the sounds of the trance masters like Ferry and the likes, we have begun our path down that road to originality and at the same time learned much about synthesis and how to get the most out of our hard/software.

Yet...at the same time, about 3 weeks ago I picked up a Virus B (and downloaded the cosmic dreamer patches), and my creativity, inspiration, and overall production skills have reached new places.

If I have one piece of advice on creating some nice sounds, get a hold of an arpeggiator with multiple patterns, notelengths, and swing settings and see how much sleep you get.

sleep? whats that?

were you like me..? 20 mins having it out the box....wondering when you were gonna have the time to finish all these new ideas for tunes that had suddenly come about!!!!!

Posted by Etherium on Jan-07-2003 06:08:

It's an extremely solid synth for the money (used $800). It can be as hard as Calculus or as warm as apple pie. And if you want something in between, it can be as warm/hard as apple Calculus or...what? Ok. It's just good. {drool}
