maybe we should stop trying to save trance music... if its really dying just let it die... its the sound that gives you goosebumps, not the name

anyway,I don't like his music, it even can't be called psy trance
cause what he's doing is collection of sounds without any connection between them & he calls it "trance".

LOL. so it's not trance because he uses influence from psytrance? or psytrance is not trance? or do you care to elaborate?

If we're talking about trance as in the literal term then your right.
You can only get a state of trance between 135-155ish BPM... a lot of Psytrance is 160+ (Wheras Goa Trance is 135-150 usually) however I'm sure theres other forms of "Trance" that are called "Trance" that are higher or lower then that margin.

Psytrance is all about going crazy and thinking fast not actually achieving what you'd typically call a state of trance. I fail to see how it's a random collection of sounds though. A lot of psytrance is crap these days but you shouldn't bag everything in the genre for that.

I'm not sure to what type of psytrance you have listened, but 160bpm seems kind of fast to me. Also - what defines trance "as in the literal term"?

Such as a shitty old theater full of 18 year olds on E with Tiesto throwing down cheese left and right?

glowsticks + trance = ecxtasy

same here. I've rarely heard any psytrance in 160 BPM. I'm sure there is but must be very few tunes. Any examples perhaps?

Posted by THE_Chris on Sep-05-2007 15:25:

Quite a bit of goa is at 160bpm... slow it down to 140 or 145 and it usually sounds fine.

it's quite amusing how long someone can be an idiot for. 6 and a bit years and you're still one. You really ought to get it seen to by a doctor.
