This stuff really isn't that good. The price is NOT justified. It should be about $10-15 less depending on where you buy it. It is just as good as stoli imho.

I disagree. I tried many of the brands mentioned and praised here, from Stoli (Cristall, Elite as well), to Grey Goose, Russki Standard etc. etc. and found Van Gogh to be the most delicious (I've been comparing the nonflavoured one of course). On top it's the only Vodka I'd drink flavoured as its just so good you can drink (I'm talking about actually drinking, not shots!) it unmixed and enjoy the yummy taste. Although I'm yet to taste the Dutch Chocolate flavour. Plus the drunkenness has always been top notch.

Turns out it is indeed. It even has a different name (haven't checked the bottle for ages as it's stored in the shed).

I've bought it from an individual though, not from a store, so it might have been someone incredibly stupid. No luck for me, though.

woman it was a joke!!!!!!!

And I say the US one sucks, but I doubt you have had the actual Russian version. I dunno why it really was a smoother cut. Maybe they don't do some of the processes for the US distillation for the Russian distillation. I have no clue.

no i'm pretty sure i never had the real one but that could easily change, i could get a friend to send me some but not sure how that'll turn out...

It is now impossible to get a non US bound bottle of it at a store. The only reason I had it was because this was before they were exporting it to the US. A shipment was stolen a few years back and that made it to the states. Otherwise I would have never had it.

I also haven't tried the flavored versions because I don't like most flavored vodkas... but I do like the non-flavored regular Van Gogh. My experience with is has always been good.

By the way, gehzumteufel, I tried the Effen last night... I was pleasantly surprised. Good stuff. I'm about to pour some over ice right now and toss in a slice of lemon. I'd put it in the regular rotation, but I can still buy Stoli (and even Stoli Gold for that matter) for less, so I'll probably just keep going with what works.
