religious people push their delusions on us all day.
boo hoo it happens once to them. if you get offended by this ad, your beliefs must be pretty weak in the first place.

actually it's pretty awesome - because you get to show that you support atheists who are just as closed-minded as the people you say push their delusions onto you.

"HA HA! we got 'em now... they spent all these years spewin their message of faith on us, but now the tide has turned! We shall fight fire with fire... we'll tell the world there's no God! Right in their faces... that'll show em we're the more reasonable sensible free-thinking individuals!"

"err...boss, aren't we supposed to be better cause we *don't* go around telling people that what they believe is bullshit?"

aren't those statutory holidays though? most businesses, with the exception of things like retail, hospitality, food & beverage, etc. would generally be closed. it'd be different if he/she observed them in ceremony or something..

who the hell is gonna demand to WORK? I mean, f*ck I take the day off for presidents day and dont give as damn about the presidents. I take my day off and chill on the couch. You dont have to celebrate the actual holiday to WANT to have a day off!! (loser!!) I also have easter off (if you wanna talk about religious holidays!), go to Bal en blanc, and party and be with friends, and zero thoughts of easter bunnys or god enter my mind.......

hahah!

Well he has a point in that it's slightly hypocritical to spend your days denying God and complaining about having beliefs pushed onto you, then to take advantage of holidays that exist BECAUSE of that religion.

This of course, ignores the fact that our Christian holidays are scheduled the way they are to match up with already-existing Pagan holidays at the time, so likely, there WOULD be those stat days without the Christian holidays landing on them.

Even I take time to recognize God in some way over Christmas.

It's most often in the form of "OMG LOOK AT THESE PRESENTS" or "OMG MY FLIGHT IS SO DELAYED"

I don't think anyone really cares. The government gives you a day off, you take it, right? We all need days off from time to time. It's just a little hypocritical is all for those who are so AGAINST religion that they spend their days thinking of ways to spread their anti-God rhetoric. Now, I don't think you're one of those anti-religious zealots, you're just someone trying to live your life and when a day off is given, you take it, and good on you. It is STILL a touch hypocritical to observe a holiday you don't believe in.

Maybe the government should look at renaming the stat holidays so that those who are religious can observe their special days, and those that aren't can enjoy their 'Gift Day' or 'Chocolate Bunny Bash'.

what about the coutless number of wars fought throughout history all because of differing religious beliefs?

Not all...but a LARGE number of people of faith do 'stress and worry' about their religion prevailing...

no different than some idiots causing wars for political beliefs

you'd also note that often, religious zealots often misinterpret, or do what is completely against what their religion says

problem is not religion; but people who use religion for own agenda

You make me laugh, this is why I hate religious people. You sit there judging us saying that were taking advantage of a holiday that you guys celebrate, when in fact were forced to take days off because of your dumb asses.

Works for me. I'll take any paid holiday off... Christmas or otherwise. BTW, Christmas is my favorite season of the year. I love the gift giving shit and getting 1 to 2 weeks off for a plant shutdown. I couldn't care who the holiday is for, I just like it. No mass, not prayers or anything else with religious intent in our house.

The reason Christmas has become special to so many non-Christians is because everyone is forced to take the time off. It is the only time when families can get together en masse.

I'd personally prefer it if everyone took a few days off in July, but that's me.

i totally agree...I think religion itself is a good thing...it promotes desirable things in society..peace, respect for others etc. etc. but obviously, fanatics take things too far and in the end I think more bad comes of it than good...and obviously money has a lot to do with this.

Very glad to see these ads making their way to Ontario as well.

Hope to see one in the near future when I'm on the TTC in Toronto!

lol dude no one is gonna demand to work on a stat holiday whether it's religious or not. that's like me living in the US and getting July 4th off but demanding to work because I'm Canadian. I think people are going to take the day off regardless as to whether the holiday happens to be religious or secular.

could you imagine, the Canadian gov't decreeing that all non-Christians would have to work on Good Friday or something? It's the same reason why people at my work can take days off if needed for religious observance whatever their belief. Those religious holidays which have been passed into law as stat holidays only became as such because of the largely Christian population in Canada which dominated (and still does to an extent) our governments.

And as for the "happy Easter/Christmas", etc. greetings by atheists or other non-believers, i think they're affectionaltely known as "Hallmark holidayers"..
