Two of my friends played at one of the competitions, the guy who won was talented, but he played one of the most boring main stream sets I've ever heard, and somehow won by 3 points, even though one of my friends played a great set and got everyone moving for his entire set.
Take it as a learning experience and move on. If you don't like Maxx, have a chat with him and let him know how you feel.

The issue with dj competitions like this is that egos get shattered really easily and people get mad (yelling, swearing, broken windows...), even when the results are really close.
I have attended a lot of the club246 dj competitions in the past, and the people that seem to do best are mostly the ones with good attitudes. I remember one guy that came in with a great attitude who lost in the first round, took some advice on what he did wrong, worked on his stuff at home, and then came back. He lost again, did the same thing, and won the round (on the third try)!
The real thing about the competition is, it's not if you win or lose, it's how you play the game. Meet lots of people, be yourself, have a good time, and you'll get gigs from the contacts you meet. Easy peasy.
