wow man... some of you guys are fucking ****s.

more power to them i say! they have the right to peaceful demonstration. If we were in europe we'd have to deal with this on the regular and on a much larger scale.

Posted by malek on May-11-2009 15:56:

we're not in europe.

I'm sorry, but once your protest affects the lives of innocent people its no longer a peaceful protest. Yes, there is no blood shed but that doesn't make it a peaceful protest.

I really couldn't care less..people have a right to protest..and ya, maybe they're idiots for going on the Gardiner..and maybe if i was stuck in traffic, i would be annoyed..but than again...it would be just another day in my life of commuting..

It just scares me how many people out there are just ready to spring into action to let the inner bigot out...

I refuse to believe that people are this traumatized because there was a protest that closed a major highway..give me a break.

so you think people should be able to break law on their whim?

its not like canadians live in a totalitarian state, and you dont have a right to free speech without breaking the law

i am not upset about the traffic disturbance. i am upset about the fact that they are trying to get the canadian government to set out a plan to stop the civil war in sri lanka. like how exactly does canada have jurisdiction in sri lanka?

Yeah that's the thing people should be complaining about... this is the reality, where there isn't much of anything Canada can reasonably do about the Tamil situation in Sri Lanka. Not on the scale they are looking for at the least... what do they want, military intervention?

It was a peaceful demonstration when they were in front of the US consulate building, but not taking over a highway for fuck sakes.

Go back to your country and complain there.

WE HAVE OUR OWN PROBLEMS. mayeb they out to fly back home and protest there?

Dont worry hippy hipster, Canada is on its way to becoming one of those nations you seem to envy.

One of those rare times when I could not agree more.

I'm tired of the "passive pussies" we have for a police force and government.

If it were white people on the QEW the police would not have had any trouble tazering us... especially if we had thrown a bicycle at them.

This political correctness crap has to STOP. Doesn't matter what race you are... you are obligated to follow our laws in this country even if you are a terrorist.

Shame on our government for negotiating with these terrorist goons! NDP, PC and Liberals have lost my support for next election. I will not stand by and watch these ridiculous politicians sell our country out to a terrorist group or cause.

Will be voting green party next election and hope they will have the backbone to deal with these radical minority groups that assume they can dictate to CANADA what we should do for them... as if we haven't done enough.

You seem to be only taking into consideration the driving.

Do you not think those people stuck on the highway had places to go and things to do?

Maybe someone missed a flight, or missed work, appointments etc.

No matter how you look at it, this protest cost the city & those stuck for hours on the gardiner money.

They need water cannons and tear gas next time around. If not we should start our own counter protest and see how messy it gets. Maybe thats a good way to clearly demonstrate the two classes of citizenry that now exist in this country.

Or how about all the hospital staff that works downtown?

This is Canada's largest city, people do more downtown than just visit their mom on a Sunday.

Goodbye, Toronto!

I'm the head of an association that was planning to hold an international conference in Toronto in early August...but we're moving it to Vancouver, along with the substantial revenue that comes with over 400 attendees. I simply will not put our delegates at risk of being subjected to terrorist chants, drums and other threats. I hope David Miller is happy, because his inaction just cost Toronto tourism a LOT of money. I would also encourage all other groups to consider relocating their events, and I would suggest that all other residents please advise any tourists/guests that you might have anticipated to visit Toronto to consider other options.

If this is true, and i dont doubt that it is, the mayor and the police chief should resign.
