Adam Freeland is where it's at FTWK!

One of my fav Richie videos of all time. Especially at the 4:40 minute mark. That is his last song at 2pm!!! The place is still packed with a few thousand people, and it doesn't look like anyone is ready to go anywhere. The event starts at 9pm, so people have been dancing for 17 hours already, and look at the crowd!

It probably has something to do with the fact that I was at that party in 2008, but every time I watch from 4:40 on of that video, it gives me major goosebumps and makes me want to start crying, hahaha.

Fuck I hope Richie destroys the Guv like I know he can on Canada Day.

I would say your best bet would be to put yourself on a reduced guestlist. That way if something happens and you don't make it, you're not out the money. It'll also save you from hassle if you don't get the tickets on time.

Can'ttt misss richie kthx.

Question

Hey guys my first post on trance addict, seems like you guys are sure a tight community!

I'm recently moved here to Ontario trying to start fresh so just asking if its wrong to go to a scene like this alone just because you want to see the artist live? I mean I'm a huge fan of Ferry and because of this thread I'm hooked onto Richie Hawtin as well...

So really just wanted to ask, has anyone went to one of these alone (like no friends went with you) and still had a good time? Would be weird of you to dance out there alone would it? Despite going for the artists and all.

I travelled alone from the states to Labour of Love at the Guv several years ago and had a great time. Met a number of people and then just lost myself in the music. Haven't missed one since. I've had some of my best times travelling solo to events.... wmc, lol, etc.... Best bet is to see if you can make it to a pregame meet up, or at least meet a group at the club. You might wanna try hitting up Footwork the weekend before (Dahlback, Sydney Blu) and get to know people who will be attending this. In any case, there will be thousands of people at this event with the same interests as you, all dancing and having a good time. I am planning on making it up there for at least this and the boat cruise the next day, if not the whole week. I am most looking forward to Menno and Ferry, but I have to catch some of Hawtin, and the skybar with lawler is too tempting to miss, not to mention Freeland and of course the awesome locals....

busy night..

hey thanks for the reply! its a lonely world out there

I came from British Columbia from Canada (so basically from west to east) so I am very unfamiliar with the area not to mention not knowing how the people are. But it sounds like wow if you traveled for hours alone and still managed to have a good time... I guess it wouldn't hurt for a guy like me to travel a couple of hours knowing I'm going to dance my ass off for the whole night.

Well if there is a tranceaddict meeting before heading into guv I wouldn't mind tagging along although I'm the quiet guy most of the time... until my favorite song hits! haha

I know where you're coming from. I am pretty introverted, too. Honestly, though, it's the people of Toronto that keep me coming back (the events don't hurt, either ). It does seem a little tough to crack the community on these forums, but everybody I've met in person has been absolutely terrific...fun and friendly. My only problem is that I've gotten soo lost in the tunes, that I fail to build a repoire with most of them.... something I hope to change during my next few trips up there. I highly suggest you get on one of the boats on Wednesday, too. The vibe is off the chain, and it's a lot easier to talk to people. If you wanna meet before guv, I'd be up for some grub downtown or whatnot. Send me a PM and we'll work something out. In fact, if a TO veteran could take charge, I'm sure a pre-party meetup would benefit a number of people........

sounds awesome man, now I just gotta debate if I should buy the ticket or not before they go up in price... knowing its Ferry

Yeah I'd love to go on the boats, but knowing my busy working lifestyle its unfortunately unlikely. Thanks for the insight Petey!

um sorry if this is a stupid question, but on the application for the guestlist on clubzone sheet it says, "How many people in group." I was wondering if its okay to put 1 lol....

oh man I'm just not used to going somewhere alone -_-;

For years I went to the clubs by myself. The only time I ever felt uncomfortable was at the beginning of the night....usually I just sat out in the smoking section and had a couple drinks until things got busy. Once the club got going I would just find a spot on the dancefloor and I was good to go for the night.
