Personally I like Fuzzy Hair Remix the best, and then that one. Thrillseekers is last. It's too floaty for me. The Adam K and Soha is floaty, but had just enough umph. lol

so shes right based on you mentioning that events were canceled last week when it was sold out a week or more ago.....

yes... the promoters just sold despite their psychic powers to make a quick buck.

ugh.....i was looking forward to this for so long.....almost got my costume until this news....ah well...keeping fingers crossed hoping for ORC to get fucking kicked in the ass. you cant promise several companies to throw events (who definitely put down payments) and then just say "yea...like ummm nooooo we dont feel like it"

ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hey leave Asia out of this I've been to parties in "communist" China that were in some AMAZING venues

Pretty sure if cash bribes were allowed this event would of been allowed to go on. That really sucks for the promoters who worked so hard

Or if common sense and decency prevailed.

Posted by LKD on Jun-05-2009 05:20:

bribes allowed? bribes are allowed all over the world..illegal in most parts of the world (including here) but why should the promoters be bribing for a space that was put up for grabs for throwing a party anyways?

that's all they sent?

Not very elaborate, but I suspect someone knows something, but I can also understand if it's something that's best not discussed publicly at least for the moment.

I really feed bad for you guys. The city needs visionaries and people with a creative mindset. Though the fact that many people here were already expressing doubts that this event would actually end up happening just goes to show you the lack of confidence there is out there in our governments' willingness to foster something new.

once again you have Toronto, the city (and province of Ont.) that always wants to play with the big kids, but isn't willing to take on the risks and responsibilities that come with it..

Not saying the promoters should have (shame on bribing it's as low as it gets) but unfortunately money talks more than common decency these days

Hey Skipper... remember i said that canadians have vision but to realize it they have to go overseas because government and regulatory bodies here strangles that vision day in and day out?

I present to you exhibit A

Posted by StereoPrincess on Jun-05-2009 14:39:

lol. I think a lot of you are over dramatizing the canceling of this party.

Yes, it sucks that it wasn't ready to hold an event there but that doesn't mean that Toronto is a shit city.

Just because you can't have an event at an abandoned jail doesn't mean that Toronto is crap. It just means that they figured that someone thought it wasn't safe, or that something bad could happen, or that they plan to do something else with the venue. You know having a bunch of drunk/high kids isn't exactly a recipe for a safe night in a old building.

I know it sucks that it was last minute and that people put a lot of money into it but obviously this place needs more than a few thousand dollars to remodel. I am thinking millions is probably required.

No this alone doesnt... but combine this with the 10 million other small annoyances and restrictions and the answer is crap/shit.

As the old saying goes... Par for the course

lol. do you really think that there is a place somewhere that is perfect and doesn't have any annoyances? (i know i know Argentina is the best ever and everyone should move there)

i mean, you could just move into the forest and live alone. that wouldn't be annoying. and you could have a party anywhere. all alone.

annoyances come with living in an area with other people since people intrinsically are annoying.

I AGREE WITH YOU WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!

Which is EXACTLY why we need to STOP regulating every single small annoyance and accept that in a city people will create noise, pollution, and live lifestyles that dont always gel with another's lifestyle.

I have suggested the forest option for those who expect the city to be like the countryside for years now!

Thank you for understanding my position!!!

yes. but if enough people complaining (or a few people that are really loud without opposition) that there is too much noise, too much pollution, too much traffic, then things get done about it.

i do appreciate you bringing up different concerns about the city. i know that it must annoy you that people fight you on every point. lol. just because it's you.

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-05-2009 17:43:

Not annoying at all. Really whats annoying is the need to even have the discussion in the first place.

There definately is a balance needed but i think most people can agree that the balance too far to the left these days where pretty well EVERY thing we do is regulated and restricted somehow.

Its so embedded in our psyche that a lot of people including myself when first hearing about the Don Jail parties ask "How are they getting away with that in Toronto?" or "Watch it get cancelled". And now we have the answer. I hate to be pessimistic but the patterns of this city and province speak for themselves.

Its all about intolerance. People are unwilling to tolerate that other people will make choices contrary to what they think is right. So they ask for laws up the yin yang until suddenly this ideal backfires in their face when someone else is annoyed with an aspect of their lifestyle. Then its an outrage!

This is why for example im a non smoking non pitbull owner who supports their rights. Because i also ask those people to respect mine.
