They have a good track record but more importantly, they've become a standard house hold item. Everywhere has them so the ease of rocking up and knowing what's in front of you has made them a sought after item, hence the pricing.

I got the new ones 1.5 weeks ago, they both seem perfect.

awesome! for someone like me that uses itunes as their central music management program will the 2000s and record box play well with each other?

my usual routine for new tracks includes...
- download from beatport
- import into itunes
- convert id3 tags to v2.3
- edit it3 tags
- detect bpm in serato scratch live
- update id3 tag in itunes
- detect key in mixed in key
- update id3 tag in itunes
- import and analyze tracks in traktor

see any problems with record box in this process (outside of eliminating the entire traktor portion at the end, )?

Why do you detect the bpm in Serato and not traktor?

Also what difference does changing the id3 tags to 2.3 make?

That's a lot of analysis In rekordbox, there's a bridge icon. You click that and it shows you all of your iTunes library and playlists. You have to right click on the playlist you want, and select "import" before it will show the playlist in your rekordbox collection. It will then start analyzing (generating the BPM and waveforms) in rekordbox.

Then you just "export" those playlists (after setting up any cue points, hot cues, etc.) to your USB/SD device.

good question! i just always did it in serato and didn't know how good/accurate traktor's analysis is. can anyone vouch whether it's good? if so, i'll cut one step out of the process!

also i change them to v2.3 because for a long time when beatport first changed to 2.4 the artwork would not work properly on my iphone/ipod/etc. dunno if subsequent software updates have fixed that problem? the problem used to occur after i'd analyze the tracks. so i just change to 2.3 first and then am able to continue on with my lengthy process.
