Pacha NYC presents SURKIN Debut with FIXED, Trouble&Bass, Michael Meds + more
The young French phenom may have skipped high school, but has already made a career for himself as one of Frances biggest rising stars. Pacha NYC proudly presents Surkin on Friday May 1st, 2009.
As a former four-to-the-floor hater, Surkin got into dance music through Detroit ghetto-tech and thanks to the internet, as he started to dig deeper into club music history focusing on Miami Bass, Chicago ghetto and non-house music. Add a thick layer of glammed-up filtered house courtesy of French dons Daft Punk and local originators Jess & Crabbe and youve got the full Surkin mille-feuilles.
In May 2006, Parisian label Institubes released two Surkin records at once, Ghetto Obsession and Radio Fireworks which garnered a tremendous response, and was played and playlisted by everybody from the Ed Banger and Erol Alkan cabal to Boys Noize and Tiga. Those tracks even managed to break the indie dance glass ceiling by smashing main rooms all over the globe. Radio Fireworks emerged as a genuine club hit, topping both Justices AND Mylos Best tracks of 2006 lists. With his first album due out in October, Surkin is still riding high of his latest EP, Next of Kin featuring a huge fuck-the-zeitgeist hit, White Knight Two, that just made Mixmags top 100 tracks list of 2008. Pacha NYC together with Surkin will be exploring a whole new genre of dance music that is growing ever so quickly.
Supporting Surkin on this night are DJs from a trio of respected NYC dance music organizations. JDH & Dave P have been at the helm of their popular New York City-based FIXED for nearly five year and have been responsible for bringing some of the largest names in dance music to US shores for their debut gigs, including Justice, The Klaxons, Simian Mobile Disco, and Soulwax. Star Eyes & The Captain from Brooklyn-based Trouble & Bass will also be bringing their signature style of bass heavy house music to the booming Pacha soundsystem. Michael Meds represents another fine NYC dance music institution Ruff Club. Having recently celebrated their three year anniversary, Ruff Club has carved their place in the city as a premier Friday night destination for the dirtiest in electro and house. Also just added, Dances With White Girls, DJ Ayres, and S$mall C$hange round out the all-star NYC support.

Pacha NYC presents DJ Boris' "America's Best DJ" Kickoff @ Pacha NYC- May 2
Pacha NYC presents New Yorks favorite Russian transplant DJ Boris back on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 for another unforgettable night for the city to Believe in Boris and vote for Americas Best DJ. This will be the kick-off event on the "America's Best DJ Summer Tour" presented by Pioneer Pro DJ.
The rich heritage of New York nightlife is focused on the figure of the resident DJ: The homegrown jock that puts down roots in a single venue, bonds with its crowd, and explores the limits of a DJ set with his faithful. With DJ Boris penchant for expansive, groove-based power-house music and his relentless approach to bring his fans the best sound and experience possible he has become one of New Yorks most beloved resident DJs. Working as both a DJ and producer, Boris has become a folk hero of sorts, not only at his residency at Pacha NYC, but all over the world.
With his 4th compilation album Believe in Me out now on Star69 Records, a slew of productions and remixes for the likes of Janet Jackson, Jewel and Gloria Estefan, Boris has also been responsible for several classic dance floor anthems. Tracks like "Automatic," "Everybody Tweakin'," "Lights Go Out," and his latest release, The Breaks 2009 prove there is no wonder why powerhouse labels like Star 69 Records, Stereo Productions, and Nervous have not wasted any time in adding Boris to their catalogues. This special Believe in Boris night is also the official Americas Best DJ stop for Boris. Come and show support for the man who has provided New York with some of its most unforgettable experiences over his years as one of its premier residents.

About Americas Best DJ
Now in its fourth year, the Americas Best DJ program, presented by industry-leading magazine DJ Times, gives U.S.-based DJs a chance to shine just as brightly as their European contemporaries. The U.S. is the birthplace of dance music, the origin of club culture, and the biggest entertainment market in the world. Its DJs deserve a contest of their own. In addition to the online voting, clubbers can fill out paper ballots at one of 20 sponsor-supported Americas Best DJ club events throughout the summer.

Save The Cannibals - May 2009
May is an exciting month, delivering longer days, warmer weather, and the harbinger of summer. What better way to embrace these changes than to heat up the night with the world's best underground music! Made Event brings you New York's finest weekly techno dance event on its premiere custom Integral Sound system. Bringing talent down from the Bronx, and from as far away as Israel, Berlin, and London, Saturday nights at Rebel in Manhattan will be the ultimate destination to Save the Cannibals!
MAY 2 - THE MARTINEZ BROTHERS & ARGY with FILSONIK
Bronx teenage phenoms The Martinez Brothers (aka TMB as theyre affectionately called) have been causing a quite a hubbub and justly so for their seamless ability to honor everything from garage house, mash-ups and minimal bleeps in their charismatic, high-powered DJ sets. After having previously teamed up with Argy on their latest release on Objektivity, Debbie Downer/Where Is Mr Brown, the team reunites to recreate the magic. Argy, hailing from Greece, has been influenced early on by the US house scene, and now more recently by the deep dance floors of Berlin's Panorama Bar. These subtle influences can be heard peppered throughout Argy's countless productions on many of techno's tops labels right now, including his back-catalogue of releases and remix on last years scintillating Focus on Argy on Poker Flat Recordings. Filsonik, also an Objektivity cohort, will be warming things up right in the spirit of deep.

MAY 9 - LEE BURRIDGE with MATTHEW DEKAY
For his StC debut in February, Lee Burridge took the cannibals by storm and left the dancefloor full of casualties stunned with an incredible night of manically-charged, forward-thinking music. His uncanny ability to mastermind the dancefloor and indiscernibly blend together funky house, tech-house and techno, never fails to move the mind & body for a twisted tech-funk affair. Theres a special connection that Lee has forged with New York City and when he returns once again to rule the roost at Cannibals, itll be one special night.

MAY 16 - CASSY with NIKOLA BAYTALA
Cannibals resident Cassy returns to New York after another monumental closing set at Sunday School For Degenerates that will be remembered as one of the years best. Cassy, known for her all vinyl sets and unmatched classic house catalog, is steadfastly becoming one of Berlins greatest exports. Her deep, hypnotic, and classy sounds are all things best experienced on New York's finest Integral Sound system. Also making his return to New York is one of San Franciscos true musical treasures Nikola Baytala. He has carved his own niche in the urban underground scene with credentials that include 10 years of DJing, a successful weekly at The Top hosted by his collective S.W.A.T. and the techno-oriented Kontrol parties. With a slew of signature tracks produced on labels such as Large, Tummy Touch, Nightshift, Soul Food, and Robsoul, Nikola has cemented his status and widely recognized for his distinctive style.

MAY 23 - GUY GERBER (LIVE) with DENNIS RODGERS
Israelis own ambassador of electronic music, Guy Gerber brings forth his personal vision of techno, which he intertwines with unique and cleverly designed melodies and moving airs that leave no listener indifferent. He has been stirring up electronic audiences with his anthem releases, and his live shows have a distinctly fresh and distinguished sound. His Bedrock Records breakout Stoppage Time and unique melodies and production skills, led to Guy joining the Cocoon family. The a steady of Cocoon releases, This Is Balagan, Sea of Sand, collaboration with Shlomi Aber and now new single, Timing. Guy's own self imprint Supplement Facts, is considered to be one of the fast growing choice labels around and is Guys diplomatic means of communicating his passion for harmony and rhythm. For the rest of the night all good thing start and end with Robots Dennis Rodgers.

MAY 30 FAIRMONT (LIVE) & ADULTNAPPER
Save the Cannibals resident Adultnapper emerges from Francis Harris' imagination and his shadowy lair deep in Brooklyn. After touring with Carl Cox and opening for Victor Calderone, Harris returns with a focus on his labels, the enigmatic Ransom Note label featuring the deeper side of Adultnapper alongside contemporaries; Alexi Delano, Camea, Matt Tolfrey & Inxec. Later this Spring keep an ear out for 'Ransom Note Part Four: Theodor Zox Falling b/w Tell Me' with a Vincenzo Remix, plus digital exclusive bonus track Momentum. On the other tip, Ransom Notes sub-label Footnote exposes the raw house side of Adultnapper's world with the latest release by Jay Tripwire Indigo with remixes by Touane and Duel by Jay Tripwire out now.
From the very beginning, Fairmonts Jake Fairley takes his music and shows a focus on stretching minimal techno into pop. Making his name as a techno maverick, Fairley has produced almost 30 records in total, 100+ songs and 4 LPs. His artist album 'Coloured In Memory' released on James Holdens influential Border Community imprint last year, united Fairley's trademark driving analogue machine-funk with woozy, warm interludes, intimate vocals and drugged-out highs, fused with a touch of the experimental. The once elusive Fairmonts softer side had been transformed into a serious club concern, and the everlush melodies are now imbued with a new dancefloor sensibility with his live reputation growing as a sweaty, raw performer imbued with tripped out liquid melodies
