Its not coincidence that both venues is bringing in a trance dj on the same weekend. Ever since we started with events in Jan guv has put something the next night after Pure Trance.

That's how Guv usually competes.

I haven't been to any of your events, but as far as I can tell, you seem to be doing well for yourselves so far because you are targeting the niche Trance market as opposed to the more mainstream names.

There is definitely a market for what you are offering.

The question is, is there growth potential or even staying power?

Since we started doing our events in Jan, they have been growing each month... I will stay here in toronto hosting events as long as there is club to host them...Guv doesnt really scare me at all when they put bigger djs the night after our shows... it kinda helps us out in a way cuz it gives options for people... you can see the same djs at guv every year or you can come to vola and see new faces... the choice is yours.

In Pure Trance We Trust!!!

Yup get used to it man,I went through this back when I used to throw some parties at another club north of the city. That's how they try to bring down others in the industry down. why cant everyone share the pie in this city?

Well like stated above its a matter of competition... but the funny thing is how is vola really competition... the place is 1/16 the size of guv...

Trust me dude I know. I went through what you are going through not too long ago and the club that I was working with was not even close to Guv.

We are going to keep doing what are doing and if Guv wants to put a big name the night after they can go right ahead and do it...

doesnt bother me one bit... Ill be going to all 4 of those events! Infact, last time there was a double header like this, the Guv lost out cause I couldnt get off the couch the next day lol

As long as we continue to receive support from everyone, we will keep doing this. We have 3 shows under our belt, its been a learning experience for everyone and I think we finally hit our groove!!!

I think you are giving yourself to much credit.. If you were booking your events on a Saturday, then maybe i can credit you with your "no coincidence" theory. Hosting an event on a Friday with C and D level talent and calling it fresh isn't going to get anyone over on the queens quay taking much notice..

I'll shush you like a fox if you don't watch it.

Don't get me wrong...I like what Vola is doing...but to suggest these are fresh faces to Toronto is incorrect....some are newer faces which is great....can't wait for Tom.

I think by fresh she means not the stale stuff that has been coming to guv lately...armin, markus, blank and jones...

None of the bookings Pure Trance has had are C or D level talents....

It's exciting and refreshing to see so many trance talents in Toronto, new talents from the past few years, alongside bigger names from previous years... and not necessarily the top headliners, such as Armin, Markus etc.. that the guv makes sure to bring annually pretty much.

I honestly think that when Pure Trance Productions started their events in Jan - something happened in Toronto, a true trance revival in a way. Look at last year - were there as many/as often trance events in 2009?? I seriously do not think so.

I think the guv and vola are offering two very different experiences, though both involve trance. If I had to choose one out of the two, I would def go with the smaller and more intimate venue as I think it offers a much more personal experience with a much better crowd and a better overall vibe.
