Halo e-cigs are shit. That was the first one I bought, but I got the "higher end" triton system. Their juice is awful, and their hardware breaks after a few months of use. None of those labeled "starter kits" are any good. They're really cheap parts that are way overpriced. You're much better off building your own.

Also if you want really good liquid, go to www.thevaporchef.com. All natural ingredients so they don't taste like "artificial ________." It's the only one I've used where you can feel it in your throat like a cigarette, and actually tastes like tobacco too. You can also adjust the PG/VG ratio if you prefer a stronger throat hit and less flavor or more flavor with less of a throat hit.

The other shitty thing about Halo is that all their stuff is proprietary. Usually e-cig chargers, tanks, etc are interchangeable, but a G6 charger won't even work with a Triton battery.

That's pretty much the best basic starter system you can get, and it's about half the price of what you'd pay for a similar Halo, plus it's not going to crap out after a couple months.

Any tank with a top coil clearomizer is going to fail after awhile. The wicks will retain flavor if you switch juices and make it taste awful, and they'll eventually burn, making it taste like burnt ass. You can replace just the heating element/wick, but it's way more worth your money to get a bottom coil with no wicks than to be replacing the heads every few months.

Yeah, I didnt get a Halo starter kit, just picked up a manual batt, mini-tank, and 7mL of juice. Thanks for the tip on that vaporchef store, I've been looking at others as well, so good to have another opinion on good places.

You know what size the EVODs are? They look like bigger tanks for PVs. I'm not looking for a big tank system, just minitanks that'll fit 808 threads. Recommendations for something like that in a replaceable bottom-coil would be great!

4 weeks ago my friend sold me an E-cig. It's the eGo-C Twist that was mentioned a few posts back. Needless to say, I have not smoked a single cigarette since that day. And I still have cigarettes sitting at home. I was approaching a pack a day, and I never have any cravings any more (for actual cigarettes). I just love my E-cig so much. I really wanted to quit and had no idea how I'd go about it. e-cigs are the answer.

A bottom coil has wicks too of course, they just don't extend into the tank as much. They also shouldn't last any longer then top coils do, assuming they work properly. The design is essentially the same. You can also get rid of any flavour creep by rinsing it off when you switch juices, it's not a big deal.

The bottom vs top coil discussion all comes down to preference really. Basically top coils will provide warmer vapor but have more trouble supplying the atomizer with juice. This means you may get more dry hits with them especially when the juice level in the tank starts to drop.
Bottom coils make for a cooler but more flavourful vape. They're also less prone to dry hits as they have gravity to help with supplying the juice, but they're more likely to leak because of that.

It's the exact width of an eGo battery (or what halo calls triton, it's the same thing), same goes for the evod. It also won't fit on an 808 connection without an adapter.

Well from my experience bottom coil rigs work a great deal better than top coil, and for some reason the top coils seem like the wicks burn out a lot faster.

When you inhale and it tastes really burnt. You get them a lot with top coils especially when the juice level gets low, as the wick can't transport the liquid all the way up the tank fast enough if you're really chiefing on it.

basically it's what happens when you fire the device without there being enough juice in the wick. The heating coil will get too hot and you get a very nasty burnt taste with a a scratchy, metallic throat hit. Like swallowing a piece of sandpaper.

If you crank up the voltage on your eGo twist all the way and start chainvaping it you might well get a taste of it.

Yea haha, I usually have it on the highest voltage setting. I'm pretty good with topping up the cartridge though, usually carry around a bottle of juice with me.

So while on this topic, you guys tell me what you think: I find lighter-colored juices to usually be a lot more pleasant and satisfying than the darker-colored ones. Maybe it's just a flavor preference thing, but I'm finding the lighter the juice, the more enjoyable the vapor is. The really deep dark colored ones feel kind of weird, like they're just a bit too much to handle. My favorite so far has been strawberry. Also had some honey and mountain dew which were really nice. Two darker ones I've had are Red Drum (drum tobacco) and this one called Nutty Professor which is actually a pretty complex mixture and has this nutty-chocolatey flavor. It smells amazing but doesn't quite taste like it smells.

Also, definitely finding the juices are better after like 5 days-week, probably because the place I buy them from mixes them to order.

Check the PG/VG ratio of them. The higher the PG, the heavier hit you'll get. Also I've found that higher quality juices tend to be lighter colored than cheap ones.

The "too much to handle" you're talking about probably had a 70/30 or 80/20 PG/VG ratio.

And any juice tastes better over time. They naturally steep when exposed to air. I usually buy mine ahead of time and leave them open for at least a few days before I use them.

Generally it's not actually the wicks that are burning out, they're made from silica which will melt rather then burn and atomizers are never going to reach temperatures that are high enough to do so. It's usually just gunk and burnt juice that builds up after a while. Rinsing them off at least once or twice a weak helps a lot, and you can get rid off most of the gunky stuff by dryburning the coil after every cleaning. Just have only the base and the coil sit on your device and fire it until the coil starts to glow, then blow or scrape off the residue.

(for kanger heads you have to wiggle out the chimney at the top first to expose the coil)

You've been rather lucky then, those cartridge based atomizers are usually not known for their flawless wicking. Any ideo what type of atomizer you have on there?

Hmm, the colour shouldn't really have anything to do with that. It's just a result of the flavouring they use. Generally the clearer they are the higher the quality of the juice. Some vendors use artificial colouring as well. If it's a very dark juice it may well contain lots of sweeteners and may clog up your device faster because of that.

There are a lot of nuances when it comes to e-liquids and some atomizer types will work better with certain e-liquids then others.

As has been mentioned by know, it's because of the steeping process.

Cool thanks for addressing my questions. It is 70/30 indeed. My friend who sold me the e-cig said the same thing pretty much.

Looking forward to getting new flavors soon. I think I'll go with apple and generally stick to fruit flavors. Those seem to go down best.

You should also try a strong menthol if you haven't already. It's quite the experience.

nahh. That's so not my thing. I got this one juice called "fairy liquid" that has a very strong anise/liquorice flavor. Don't like it at all.

It's a love it or hate it thing, but it's not really comparable to anything else. The throat hit is pretty spectacular and you can really feel it opening up your sinuses.

Hmm then I shall at least try it!

The vapor chef has a flavor meant for mixing that's called absolute zero that's pretty intensely cool.

This month I went from 24mg nicotine per bottle to zero nicotine, had some withdraws but a month into it I don't think I am going back to nicotine. I been vaping for 3 years give or take and before that smoked since I was 16 and this is the first time I been clean of nicotine and I feel refreshed.

Heh, more power to you then. I tried zero nic a few times but i honestly can't stand it. I get like a weird bitter taste from those juices and absolutely no throathit. I'm still on 18 but i should really bring that down a bit, my current setup is so potent i can barely take like 5 good drags without destroying my throat. Unfortunately I've still got over half a liter of stocked up 18 mg juice to go trough first though.

What hardware are you on at the moment desiderata?
