im drinking fosters scuba at the minute.. not cos i like it, oreven that i condone the production of this shitty fannypiss of a beer.

but i was just wondering.. whats the difference between normal fosters and fosters scuba?.. cos this tastes differnt, and dosnt appear to be getting a ****** drunk.

plus it was 8 cans for 5 .. and not them gay little cans you have in america.. 500ml cans

I've never even heard of Fosters Scuba

Stuart, victory is mine.

Finally tried it. I rather enjoyed its clean taste, but I ESPECIALLY love the 8.5% alcohol by volume. I was off my tits. And my tits are juicier than ********'s. They just are.

Nice one! Cool that you got a glass too, I've not seen any of them around here. It's good shit, huh?

Nice work. Delerium make a solid brew and Tremens is one of my favourites from them.

But 8.5%? Come on, most real beers are into double figures

I heard this was the same now with Pilsener beer? That it could only be Pilsener if it was from Pilsen in CZE?

No. A Pilsener is basically a lager but fermented differently. Lagers up until the early 1800's were top-fermented. Czechs (Bohemians) bottom-fermented our yeasts in cold caves. This cold fermentation along with the use of the finest Czech saaz hops, as well as the very soft water flowing through Plzen, gave the beer its distict flavour that beers worlwide based themselves upon.

I've been to the Plzensk Prazdroj brewery twice, once after the Russians got kicked out, and another 10 years later. It was better the first time before they expanded their restaurant area to accommodate the huge swarms of tourists that decended upon this beer Mecca in the years that followed.

I hear the Czech can drink anyone under the table. But I'm sure the Irish and Germans have something to say about that.

Most do, as the Czechs are the biggest beer-drinkers per capita in the world. They drink it like pop over there, and yes, even permitted on the job (at least still did the last time I went) I'm an exception, but then again, my brothers weigh over 50lbs more than I do.

Having some Delirium Nocturnum right now. It's definitely a darker, spicier ale.

I like.

See, hearing shit like that pisses me off. We have some decent small (micro?) breweries here, but they never seem to release seasonal brews, or one-off special brews like heaps of the overseas breweries seem to. If they do, I rarely see them on the shelf anywhere.

I guess it's because we have a small population here - less possibility for a specialised market like that.

To the thread, Bas?

It's because you live in Brisbane

Well, yeah

I'm not moving to Melbourne or Sydney just for a larger selection of beer!

I may well take you up on that, but I've still to try out:

Also, I realised today (incredibly embarrassing though it may be) that I've never once tried Hoegaarden.

Hoes are ok but a bit watery with a weird after taste.
