My advice would be to get a rice cooker.

You should also look at learning how to cook Dal and how to use spices before you go absolutely trying to live off sandwiches.

Pastas are also a good option for keeping full, but in saying all this you will need to spend more time cooking than you would otherwise.

Meeeh, it's lunch. A sandwich once a day is hardly a big deal, especially since it's a short time period where she needs a quick meal in the middle of the day.

I missed the part where Mel said she had access to a microwave though.

Mel: Start making pasta dishes or rice/stir-fry dishes for dinner, and make enough so you have leftovers. Get a microwavable container or two, and take your leftovers to work to eat the next day. Heat, eat, win. Easiest answer.

Just remember the fork to eat with

One of my favourite meals is lunch specifically because of the sandwiches. Breakfast is always a mishmash of things, dinner is so formal. That leaves lunch to go crazy at that lovely gourmet sandwich like it's the last thing you'll ever eat.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....sandwiches. Om nom nom!

I think pasta and rice are okay occasionally, but I would try to avoid meals where the bulk of it consists of grains.

If you get tired of soy-based analogs, you can always use eggplant (the other white non-meat).

Cutting cheese out of my diet too because I dunno what the fuk made me gain 5 lbs! So no fat stuff - what so ever.

Rice cheese is my substitute now. Soy Milk vanilla with my coffee in the a.m.

I was just asking to find out some ideas I may have not thought of. Cuz my avocado/hummus sandwich is new and yummy But I saw it in a deli by my job, first.

Rice and pasta are okay if they're whole-grain. Too much starch can be bad for you.

If you can eat fish, I suggest tuna and avocado. No mayo, just use the avocado as a substitute and mash that deliciousness together.
Put that on rye bread with hot peppers and you're golden

Also easy... bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

If you're watching weight, then cut out sugar and simply reduce fats. Don't cut the cheeeeese

Sprinkle nuts in your salads for a protein boost.

Also, don't neglect your iron! For the love of fuck, eat spinach/broccoli and iron-fortified cereals. Especially after your period.

Do you eat eggs still? I eat an egg almost every day at some point either with my main meal or as a snack. They're good on salads. All I eat is baby spinach salads. So good and hearty.

I make bean salads a lot too. Get a can of mixed beans, a can of black beans, and some corn. Rinse them and mix them together, add some chopped red onion, jalapeo, crushed garlic, green and red pepper, and cilantro. Season with salt, cumin, and chili powder, and a dash of sugar. Add lime juice and a bit of oil, et voila. I make enough for 3 days - and by the third day it's so fucking om nom nom.

I also make another easy salad that's good for a few days. Diced tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers, broccoli, and green peppers, with a bit of feta cheese, oregano and a simple oil + vinegar dressing. Super yummy.

Make wraps with lettuce instead of bread. Make couscous and quinoa (both are really simple and you can add whatever you want to them).

Eat a serving of broccoli every day with either lunch or dinner.

Veggies + hummus. Nom.

Cottage cheese + fruit or a teaspoon of jam is a good morning snack. Just be careful of the sugar in jam.

Cut sugar - especially hidden sugar like in fruit juices, cola, shit that isn't whole grain, dry cereal (Kashi Go Lean ftw), and CONDIMENTS (ie ketchup, bbq sauce, etc).

Definitely moderate your dairy. A serving of cheese is about the size of your finger, so ration wisely.

Peanut butter is great protein, but also counts as fat servings, so ration that wisely also.

I work 12 hour days and always have time to make healthy lunches (I eat breakfast, lunch, AND dinner at work. :/ ). It only takes about 20-30 minutes. You can do eeet!

try a meth diet, thats how i get all my girls to slim down

I didn't stick to being FULLY vegetarian but I eat white meat chicken like 1-2x a week.

I just bought this at whole foods and it is so goooooooooooooooooooooood! I am a little bit lactose now since going vegetarian - I stopped drinking alot of milk so once in a while it bloats me when I have too much cheese/milk. So this is wonderful!

I already love their rice cheese.

Let this thread continue as a healthy/vegetarian/vegan friendly thread
