i like some early detroit techno and some early german techno, but the rest i don't get nor like. i don't undertsand how so many people like it.
Millenium prog (circa 2000-2002) is overrated. all the producers did was loop a bassline with a few layers the entire track. sure, there's some exceptions but most of tracks are shat!!!
Reading back that argument from three years ago, I actually pulled a very shitty sleight-of-hand trick on wotyzoid in that argument and I probably owe him an apology.
EDIT: No wait, reading it back more carefully, I had actually covered my bases. Was starting to feel guilty for a moment then. I should probably still feel guilty for being an aggressive asshole though.
Am I the only one who finds Hardfloor's Acperience overrated and slightly cheesy?

I'm not a fan of Moodymann. Maybe I haven't given him a fair chance or looked at enough of his catalog, but every time I try out his tracks I just think meh...

Niggas don't know, just type moodymann on youtube and bam, bitch.
95% of Dance Mania is dog shit and the recent cult following of the label is just one huge circlejerk of people that think that anything 'raw' must be good.
The only thing Raw about Germany these days is the smell of rotting boiled cabbage.

| Originally posted by SYSTEM-J What I mean is the kind of stuff you post reminds me of rather extreme genres like breakcore where there's an obsession with a very niche set of musical characteristics, almost always defined by their extremism. It strikes me as niche-for-its-own-sake, a purposeful self-alienation by those who want to self-identify as outsiders. |

| Originally posted by AlphaStarred I also think "a purposeful self-alienation..." to identify as an outsider is quite ludicrous. The reason why I like what I do is because I find it tasteful, not because it's "underground" or different from what most people may listen to. To listen to certain music in order to identify as an outsider would be quite childish, don't you think? |

if anything that really bugs me in music it's the "slow it way down"-movement in that greyzone of modern post-hiphop and other various offshoots. the origin or inspiration of this stuff comes from screw & obviously trip-hop but also the experimentation of what hiphop can be from the likes of flylo and ilk.
i cannot for the life of me stand these productions that sounds like they are done to sound pitched down or slowed down just for the fuck of it. it sounds like a third rate modern interpretation of trip-hop and all that jazz. and this shit is all the rage with blogs, hipsters, musicjournalists & writers that were teenagers in the 90's. and this shit is played out in clubs. the fuck.
also, one of things that boggled me with this thread is this. i thought the idea was to post the opinion at hand just because it's no point to start an arguement for the fuck of it. obviously, that wasn't the case. but then again i know from my own history as a selfproclaimed knowitall & fuckwit, i would probably be harder on anyone saying "what are you talking about, this shit is great". i would also probably go straight to ad hominem after the first retort.
Marcel Dettman's productions suck.
