If you are driving to to South St Seaport. There are plenty of parking lots in the area which have a weekend special from morning till 10pm for around 15-20$ plus tax. The closer to the Seaport the more it will cost ya. The 4 block walk may be worth saving the extra parking $

Hey guys,

considering coming from Montreal for this... I'm just a bit concerned about the waiting time to get back to the NYC when the party finishes at midnight ? Any of you had parties at the Gov Island ? How are they going to manage 6000+people coming back to NYC in water taxis at the same time ? Anyone ever went through that ? I have to leave after the party and would'nt want to be stick in there for 2-3 hours waiting for the water taxi...

thanks !

There is a Ferry, I believe the capacity of the Ferry is around 800. The ferry will run at least every hour, the ride itself is under 5 minutes lol Here is the ferry schedule:
http://www.govisland.com/html/visit/directions.shtml

The lines may be long but move fairly quickly. Security just glances inside your bag if you are carrying one, if not you just walk right through. The Ferry is free of charge on the weekends from Fri- Sun.

If you want to take a water taxi you certainly can but I am not sure how that situation will be like. Btw this info is very recent. I just took the Ferry to Gov Island for a festival a few weeks ago and there were no problems at all.

MEETUP INFO:

I am doing a pre-PvD meetup with some friends and TA's at Johnny Rockets at South Street Seaport to have some lunch then all head over to the ferry together but if any of you would like to join as well you are welcome to. Meetup time is between 2:30 and 3:00PM

Johnny Rockets
89 South Street Pier 17, South Street Seaport, New York, NY 10038
Phone: (212) 227-7723. Hours: SAT: 8:00 AM - 2:00 AM

If you don't mind a little walking, you can also take the Path to WTC and walk to Pier 11 from there. It's a little under 15 minutes' walk, maybe 10 if you're a power-walker. You could park near Exchange Pl or Grove St, Jersey City (the least dodgy stations on that route).

Every hour???? This seems crazy. It originally said every 15 minutes. So if you arrive at the Battery Maritime Building at 405pm and the Water Taxi left at 4pm you are stuck until 5pm? If so that is absolutely horrible.

That's where the ferry usually leaves from and where I was planning to head in the first place lol

Pier 11 ferrys go to other places ie: Statue of Liberty etc.

Just look for a green and brown building across from the Staten Island Ferry. You really can't miss it!

Oh crap, I never paid attention to what it was called so I thought the same thing. I just assumed that was the only ferry to Gov Island from Manhattan anyway. Good thing they changed it!
