Yo srussell0018... I don't have anything against you or anything but why do you pick so many fights with so many members here?

Posted by Alex on May-26-2013 08:16:

Ok, maybe "pick fights" isn't the best way to phrase it.

But you certainly (somehow) get into a lot of "confrontations" so to speak.

Again, no offense intended, just curious.

h8'rs, clearly.

I second that curiosity. He does have the remarkable ability to drive everyone up a wall that the immediate backlash is truly staggering. It must make Nou jealous at times as well.

Nobody ever says "Oh good!!" when they find out they have cancer.

Posted by srussell0018 on May-27-2013 00:23:

I'd say that if I found out you had cancer.

Whoa, easy there. You're getting a bit too harsh, don't you think?

Posted by Silky Johnson on May-27-2013 00:32:

What kind of loser wishes cancer on someone? I bet srussell polishes his gun and rewrites his list of people to kill that pissed him off every night. Lololol. Psycho!

Posted by srussell0018 on May-27-2013 00:33:

Lololol!

Same rules for everyone: Had I seen someone say something similar to him, I'd say the same thing.

Now, calm down, all of you. Let's go back to the original topic, shall we?

I dont necessarily disagree with your (or hard trance prods) viewpoint(s) but there is absolutely an uneven emphasis on the apparent evils committed by the west compared to the rest of the world. If you were a little more balanced in what you thought was important to post about then I wouldnt make such statements but its almost always Israel, US, Canada & the UK which comes in for the most forum time. surely you think there are other baddies around?

Is that it? Im what, 7 years older than you and thats meant to be some massive insult? Id almost feel sorry for you if you werent such a twat.

I'll show you! And everyone who's wronged me!

Thread back on topic.

Muslims are the problem. If Charles Martel were alive today, he would break down in tears, for what he fought for has been in vain.

Posted by Lews on May-27-2013 08:13:

Ahh, another thread with interesting issues blown far off course by terrible argumentation and dreadful ad hominem attacks.

@ PKC and Jack: while issues regarding how "terrorism" is used by governments is quite interesting, though definitely not novel, and as much as I enjoy arguing over how we should define terrorism, I just can't take any article seriously that tries to compare hacking a man to pieces to Hiroshima.

Once the two are equal, there is no such thing as terrorism. Which does end up going back to "terrorism" being merely a term used by governments for certain practical reasons, but also seems to conflate some very different activities.

It doesn't feel right to me to simply equate the discourse on terrorism to internal propaganda of days of yore. Modern media and the Internet have totally changed that landscape. Based on the utter stupidity and ignorance that has been flying around both social media outlets and in this this thread, I would say the majority of people are not very savvy or educated on this subject at all, and so there's nothing wrong with either writing the article nor in posting it in this thread. I suspect you're downplaying it because this kind of revisionist leftist interpretation strays close to "the West is pure evil!" rhetoric of conspiracy theorists.

Haha!! I certainly try to divorce my interests in political discourse from my unfortunate hobby of getting annoyed at conspiracy theorists. You hit the nail on the head of my major criticism of the article in the bolded- I wrote a paper (or maybe it was a presentation, who can remember that far back?) on the same topic so it all just seemed a little redundant to me. but now that you mention it obviously not everyone is as old and interested as I was back then.

My only other major gripe with the article was it ignored the role enemy combatants have played in the evolution of Team Whiteys definitions and/or tactics- who chose non-conventional warfare? Who chose not to wear uniforms or to hide behind civilians etc? I dont equate killing off-duty military personnel at home with droning a militant in their bed. They are the ones that chose to operate outside the established rules of warfare and the article doesnt address how militants have played their own role in how small scale conflicts are now fought. Maybe they didnt have much of a choice in that, but thems the breaks.

Posted by srussell0018 on May-28-2013 02:30:

Yeah, droning a militant in their bed, or at their mosque, or in a school, or in a crowded residential neighborhood. Estimates put it at 50 civilians per 1 terrorist killed by drone strikes since 2002.

quote:
The Bureau of Investigative Journalism issued a report detailing how the CIA is deliberately targeting those who show up after the sight of an attack, rescuers, and mourners at funerals as a part of a "double-tap" strategy eerily reminiscient of methods used by terrorist groups like Hamas.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on May-28-2013 12:23:

In other words: drone warfare can't be terrorism because it's not accurate enough.
