Originally posted by Cosmic Fur All the people who bitterly say that Italy did not deserve to win are idiots. If they didn't deserve to win, they wouldn't have been in the finals. If they didn't deserve to win, they wouldn't have been in the semis. If they didn't deserve to win, they wouldn't have been in the quarterfinals. But they were. And they beat all the other teams coming up to the finals. Now you can bang your head against the wall and whine that all their opponents were weak, but all those opponents somehow made it to the finals, semis, and quarters, so that means they played well, unless you start stupidly arguing that Italy's opponents didn't deserve to be where they were either. In other words, nobody deserved to be where they were, it's all bullshit, this whole tournament was determined by the flipping of a coin, world cup sucks, fifa sucks, soccer sucks, blah blah blah. You know who didn't deserve to win? France. You know why? Cause they couldn't score two goals to beat Italy. Quit your whining.
I wanted France to win, but just like Germany, they just couldn't come through Italy's defenses and score.

Please tell me then, how in God's name was zidane kicked out UNFAIRLY?
A case for the Italian defence...?
BUFFON Gianluigi games played - 7, goals against - 2, saves - 27
BARTHEZ Fabien games played - 7, goals against - 3, saves - 14
So does that mean that while playing against teams like Brazil, Portugal, and Spain France only allowed 14 shots on goal compared to 27 shots on goal allowed by Italy?
Just for the record I'm not making any statments here, just an interesting statistic...

Zinedine Zidane has apologised for the headbutt on Italy's Marco Materazzi which earned him a red card in Sunday's World Cup final penalty shoot-out loss. But the France legend did not reveal what Materazzi said, only confirming that it was "very personal" and concerned his mother and his sister. In a French TV interview, Zidane, 34, said: "I want to ask for forgiveness from all the children who watched that. "There was no excuse for it. I want to be open and honest about it." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foo...006/5169342.stm

Materazzi himself, who scored the equaliser for Italy on Sunday, made a statement of his own while Zidane was speaking on French television. 'I didn't mention anything about religion, politics or racism,' he said. 'I didn't insult his mother. I lost my mother when I was 15 years old and still get emotional when I talk about it. 'Naturally, I didn't know that his mother was in hospital but I wish her all the best. 'Zidane is my hero and I have always admired him a lot.' http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=373767&cc=5901
Zidane also said he does not regret what he done and he's only sorry to the kids.
how come the english media lost this in the translation??
"I want to ask for forgiveness from all the children who watched," Zidane said.

ZIDANE EXCLUSIVE: 'BRING ME THE B*LLS OF MARCO MATERAZZI' THE furious mother of Zinedine Zidane last night PRAISED her son for his disgraceful World Cup headbutt on Marco Materazzi. And Malika Zidane warned the Italian defender she wants his "b*lls chopped off for his part in the French skipper's sending off amid claims he branded her a "terrorist whore" in the ugly spat. Algerian Malika, who is recovering from an illness, claimed Zidane, 34, was simply protecting her honour when he butted Materazzi in Sunday's final. She told friends: "I am utterly disgusted by what I have heard. I praise my son for defending his family's honour. "No one should be subjected to such foul insults on or off the football pitch and I don't care if it was a World Cup Final. "I have nothing but contempt for Materazzi and, if what he said is true, then I want his balls on a platter. "Our whole family is deeply saddened that Zinedine's career should end with a red card but at least he has his honour. Some things are bigger than football." Malika spoke as it was claimed the Italian players also made jibes about Zidane's bald head. |
quite the comment.

According to some Russian sources, Zedane's mother, Malika Zedane said: " I don't give a shit that France didn't win the cup. The most important thing for me at this event was that my son defended my honor for that I'm really proud of him." She also said that she despises Matterazzi and that she want his balls cut out and brought to her on a plate.

Originally posted by malek Italy played Australia (which they cheated their way thru with a rare delicacy called diving), Ukraine (big big powerhouse) and with their toughest game was against Germany (Germany controlling the game while italy wasting time and cutting the tempo with fake injuries and dives), nonetheless a victory deserved for the Azzuri. France kicked Spain, Portugal and lets not forget the champions and favorites Brazil with clear and decisive victories. And on the finals, what do we witness, France owning Italy, completely, not even close. And the decisive actions come at the PKs, where the "best goalie" named Buffon, not a single time jumped in the right direction to try and stop the ball. Total fluke world cup win for Italy. If France won in this total fluke fashion, it would have been somehow deserved because they kicked out 3 major teams in Spain, Portugal and the big favorites Brazil. But Italy's win is simply just a win, and thats why we only hear about Zidane and the disgrace called Materazzi and not Italy's celebration and win which I might be affraid only the Italians are following and giving them any importance (while trying to forget the major match fixing and scandals that are currently happening there). I just hope you itlians come back down on earth and wake up a bit...
