Originally posted by malek Italy played Australia (which they cheated their way thru with a rare delicacy called diving), Ukraine (big big powerhouse) and with their toughest game was against Germany (Germany controlling the game while italy wasting time and cutting the tempo with fake injuries and dives), nonetheless a victory deserved for the Azzuri. France kicked Spain, Portugal and lets not forget the champions and favorites Brazil with clear and decisive victories. And on the finals, what do we witness, France owning Italy, completely, not even close. And the decisive actions come at the PKs, where the "best goalie" named Buffon, not a single time jumped in the right direction to try and stop the ball. Total fluke world cup win for Italy. If France won in this total fluke fashion, it would have been somehow deserved because they kicked out 3 major teams in Spain, Portugal and the big favorites Brazil. But Italy's win is simply just a win, and thats why we only hear about Zidane and the disgrace called Materazzi and not Italy's celebration and win which I might be affraid only the Italians are following and giving them any importance (while trying to forget the major match fixing and scandals that are currently happening there). I just hope you itlians come back down on earth and wake up a bit...
LOL

Pfft, Malek, the French penalty goal resulted because of a dive. So STFU.

Originally posted by m2j 10 feet or not, the goalie and the defender were right there and could (and prob. would) have easily blocked his attempt at a goal. the matter of the fact is the Aussie player should not have been in the way unless he was able to get a cleaner slide tackle, but when Grosso saw his chances at a goal were slim he seemed to CHOOSE to trip and take advantage of the situation. Technically, you can consider it a foul... but when a player does something like that I consider it a dive. And what bothers me most is the fact that a soon as he hears the whistle, him and his team mates begin to celebrate and the italian players crouch down to congradulate him on his performance.

Originally posted by djeso Did you know that every italian soccer player took diving lessons before joining their national team Shots on Target: Italy 1 - France 5 Shots off target : Italy 2 - France 8 in total 3 shots by Italy and 13 by France I'd say Italy got lucky plus no game is a good game that goes into Penalty Shots

Originally posted by RapidFire wrong. the only thing the french did throughout the whole tournament that could be considered a dive (although it still wouldve been a call, just not a yellow card) would be that free kick they got against spain when henry was nudged in the chest and held his face.

Non discrimination

Zidane is better known for his sportsmanship and dancer-like style with the ball. He is a national hero for the French and a symbol of a young, multicultural France. Born to Algerian immigrants, Zidane grew up playing on concrete in an impoverished neighborhood of Marseille, South of France.
"My act is not forgivable," Zidane said. "But they must also punish the true guilty party, and the guilty party is the one who provokes."
Materazzi has acknowledged he insulted Zidane, without giving specifics. At nearly the same moment Zidane was live on French TV, excerpts from an interview that Materazzi gave were posted on an Italian paper's Website.
