Guess teh computer at home works!

So now here i am unable to listen to Mr S Radio!

This computer has the bare minimum, internet and solitaire.. thats it

Like the nu sig there mr s. Funny thing happened on the way home today.. its pouring down rain on I-81, getting dark and trucks are passing my little Citation and spraying water all over the windshield.

Well about 10 miles from JMU, my windshield wipers decide to conk out. Yep. their stuck in the up postion on my windshield, nothing works. I try to turn it off and on but nothing .. So i basically was blind for about 10 miles, till I got to JMU.

I got gas, and just let it sit..It happened before, my windshield wiper motor used to overheat and just stop. But i replaced it with a brand new motor in May. SO i have no idea why its giving me problems now.

I guess that will be a task for me tomorrow...putzin' around the ol' engine compartment.

Oh yeah closure for the story, so i just waited for a bit in the car, bought a 5th avenue and a drink and just sat and listened to a tape of my Trance DJ show that I do on the Virginia Tech Radio Station.

15 minutes later, they started working again, but i didnt want to take any more chance so the rest of the way home, I manually wiped the windshield ( basically i turned the knob to wipe it once then quickly turned it off, then i would wait bout a minute till i couldnt see thru the windshield anymore and then wiped it again)

Oh yeah reminder for myself to go out and get RainX.. ill put that all over my windshield as well.

A better ratio than Goucher College in Towson, Maryland?

I used some of that the other day. It's really cool to watch the rain run up your windshield at highway speeds. Apply a few coats of it for extra beading.

Technically I dont really need to go out and purchase RainX

all it is is a clear wax that goes on your windshield. My dad told me that back in the 70s when he washed and waxed his car, he dabbed a little wax on the windshield and buffed it all. Thats all RainX is, someone just took that idea and made a fortune with it.

Funny thing is tho, i know a couple people who put only Rain X in their Windshield Washer Reservoir.

hehe Trancer X uses Rain X! i get it!

*Mebot goes and looks for some Turtle Wax or Nu Finish in teh basement*

Basically you're right, but Rain-X is a micro-polymer and is much better than using car wax. While it would probably make the water bead just as well as Rain-X, Carnauba wax can and will make your wipers skip (when they are working) pretty bad.

Years ago I had my own car detailing business, so I'm just speaking from personal experience.

BTW, your dad hasn't washed his car since the 70's? It must be quite dirty by now.

You could still try it though as I'm sure it wouldn't really hurt anything. I'm just partial to Rain-X. I keep a bottle of it in my trunk next to my spare tire.

It is illegal to use car wax on your windshield because it is mucho reflective.
rainX is not reflective so thus it is legal.

its also illegal to drive under the influence, without a state inspection, with your knees, past the speed limit, or have anything hanging from your rear view mirror

but i have still done it

Seriously though, i know what ur saying, im just gonna tinker around and see if theres a short or grounding problem instead. Figure out why it heats up and stops all the time.

Posted by Trancer-X on Nov-25-2003 21:39:

Driving barefoot, while technically not illegal in Maryland could still get you fined for negligent driving. I was once pulled over at the beach while (barefoot) driving a friend's tricked out Jeep CJ5. I got a verbal warning because I wasn't wearing shoes. Stupid shit!

Posted by Mebot on Nov-25-2003 22:20:

yeah there are a lot of strict enforcements about driving and such.

Most aren't enforced too much but there are a couple you gotta watch out for.
