I understand the double standard even though I'm not all that into girl on girl action. Man on man is just a lot more gross. Women have much more beautiful bodies (less hair, smoother skin, etc.). I don't get into it too much, but must admit it's cool to see two hot girls make out a little, as long as it's not excessive. It's best when the girls are hesitant, because they "don't usually do this".

Why is it so socially acceptable for women to be lesbians, but not for men to be gay!? Why the double standard?!

It seems to be very well taken for two women to be together, but when two men are together it's so wrong. Please someone explain this to me because I honestly don't get it!

Homosexuality is wrong for either sex. It's immoral and ethically incorrect as well. The fact that society has a higher tolerance for "lesbians" is soley due to the fact that the moral and ethical "bar" (our standards as a society) has been lowered by a humanistic and non-religious point of view. Also, the people lowering the moral and ethical bars are primarily male - and although not many men want to see male homosexuality socially acceptable - the thought of a couple girls together is "ok" because it turns them on.

I also think the rise of Fruedian "freedom of sexual expression" has something to do with it. Add that with the statement above, and you have a society where homosexuality becomes more and more acceptable.

well IMO seeing a man with a another man does not turn me on, nor does seeing a woman with another woman. I prefer seeing myself live in action with my man

Posted by NiteMer on Aug-19-2004 16:25:

It is a pretty messed up double standard. I definitely agree that it's wrong on both sides, but still find it funny to see two non-homosexual women kiss. I'm not saying that's right, but if I had to choose, I'll watch two women rather than two men.

Posted by Floorfiller on Aug-19-2004 16:34:

i'm saying i don't wanna watch anyone make out whether its girl on girl, boy on boy, or girl on boy...

of course there will always be something if people are a little drunk or something...i'm guilty of that, but i hate when people are completely sober and are all over each other twenty four seven...i mean...give it a rest or get a room

Yeah, too much PDA is no good. I have been guilty of it a couple of times (with a girl of course), but those were extrenuating circumstances. After party when PVD and Jerry Bonham were in town. I was highly intoxicated. I try not to do that, because I think it's pretty rude, but sometimes you get caught up in the moment.

Posted by RandomGirl on Aug-19-2004 18:11:

Hmmm very good thoughts.

My ex used to say that it was because there was a mixture of parts that were unusual.

Like, it's more normal for a tounge to be touching your genitals, but it is less normal to have a penis being rammed up your bum. So that is why it is less accepted.

I never accepted that as a good excuse. At one time, it wasn't acceptable for people to be partaking in oral sex at all, and in fact, some places made it illegal!

So neither form is fully accepted in entirety, so why's the lez action better?

I think a lot of your ideas are very accurate. The whole religion based thing is a very plausible idea. Societies were highly based upon religion, so I can see this moral standard stemming from that.

Any more thoughts? Crazy theories or ideas?

Posted by Floorfiller on Aug-19-2004 18:16:

i think that it really think its the result of the stigma we place on male homosexuality in society and the support we lend to lesbians. if we didn't put such a negative outlook on being gay in general, then i'm sure we would see that sort of thing a lot more...

plus i do agree with the women are better looking then men thing hehehe

Bring it on. Although, I don't think this topic is worthy of our thread. Agree/Disagree?

Well thats your view, so lets not confuse what your religious outake on homosexuality is, and what the rest of ours is. So no, its not wrong, immoral or ethically incorrect. Preach elsewhere fundie.

"no, ladies, this is morally wrong. i do NOT want to see you guys go down on each other. and i will only have sex with one of you after we're married by a catholic priest".

Maybe in your opinion, and if your 'morals' and 'ethics' are based on religion.

Posted by USMC_Greg on Aug-20-2004 16:42:

I don't care if someone is gay. They can do whatever they want behind closed doors.

Just don't act gay around me, or in public. We don't have to know about it.

That's my 2 cents
