lol, but they *are* successful, as long as they play it out right...

I'm not saying I subscribe to that philosophy, but I'm not going to deny that it works either!

Sure, can't deny the logic in that.

But I'd hedge my bets on the fact that the "animals" aren't really looking for the qualities you're talking about. The ones that are - the ones that have higher standards in terms of intelligence and stuff - probably lose the race in purely numeric terms. Whether or not they're getting better quality for their decreased quantity is really a subjective call.

I'm not trying to say they're right, I don't go for the trashy ones... just playing devil's advocate here, you can't apply your own standards to other people's relationships (or flings).

I understand what you're asking, and it is hard in retrospect to separate who did what. All I know is that when I was interested in someone, I made it known, and not just by twirling my hair or batting an eyelash here and there. But I do agree that some girls don't make it obvious (same could be said for guys though). I maybe made it too obvious

If every girl took that advice, same goes for guys but I am pretty simple and I'll straight up tell you if I like you or not most of the time if you ask, or I will show it in some way. I am pretty honest when it comes to feelings because I dont think they should be played with you only get in deep crap if yah lie or play with someones feelings. As for girls well the ones I've met so far I might of cought some of the signals but mostly its a innccent fling nothing more past that. And its usually when I am on vacation or out of town somewhere.

P.S thanks for the great posts, alot of help from mostly everyones post. Keep it coming.

Posted by EvilElf_Of_Kryn on Nov-14-2003 03:23:

Read This!

Hmm.... it's hard to know when the girl is showing some signals since you don't exactly stare at her constantly to notice..
I guess u have to be lucky to catch one, like to get more then one eye contact or any other signals. (or i might be wrong and u have to stare at her to show that u are interested.)

yea yea ok. fine.this is stupid. everyone has their own experiences. it's all elastic. can't go 1,2,3 this is what's gonna happen if u do x,y,z. why not write a book on "dating for idiots" then!? haahaha!

hey, btw, nut ~ what's that in your sig?!!? We're a generation of men raised by women... I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need... hahahaha! mmmm....

fate.. destiny.. hmmm 20% of the world lives on less than a dollar a day. millions of people have so little food they eat shrubs and mud and drink water with more parasites and bacteria than a toilet bowl. If there is such a thing as fate destiny and happy endings it applies to everyone. It doesnt for millions of people. no fairytail marriage for millions of people around the world. Sorry i dont believe we are destined to live happily ever after with a chosen one. my opinion though

i havnt read most of this.. well really any of this at all. but i can say this. while guys normally just stare at breats with their toungue out and for the most part thats all they really need to be happy. Girls are different. They like a sense of humour usually someone they can have fun with. Iv seen some pretty ugly guys in my life get some pretty fuckin hot girls cause they know how to talk. But for the most part girls just want someone who can take care of them. They'll deny it till they die.. but thats what attracts them. Be honest with yourself girls did you dream of that chemistry lab partner sweeping you off your feet? nah it was the knight in shining armour wasnt it.. learn how to talk to girls and dont fuss about how you look. and dont talk about your homework. you dont really give a fuck.. do you think they do?

I'm glad to see someone take a step back and look at the big picture. We're so lucky to be living in the western part of the world. We forget that many people living in the other parts don't even get a choice when it comes to finding a partner.

Posted by KawalaBear on Nov-14-2003 06:17:

Okay I have nothing against what both of you are saying about the big picture etc... and sympathize with you, but whats with the sudden change of topic here? I have my own problems to deal with there for how do you even think about other peoples problems if its hard enough to solve your own...? Its alot easier to say this on a forum, however I always get screwed cause im too nice, in real life that is.

( just speaking out loud )

how am i being condenscending?

so how is it that fate plays such an intrigal part in this game, please elaborate?

anyways, how can you believe in destiny when you just said every event is a consequence of your own actions at some point? i'm confused... it seems just a 'tad' contradictory

hey, btw, nut ~ what's that in your sig?!!? We're a generation of men raised by women... I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need... hahahaha! mmmm....

The line in my sig is from the movie Fight Club. Greatest movie ever! (well at least my favourite ). It's a message to all the men out there to stop following trends and thinking with their dicks, and remember what they are. The whole dialogue is:
quote:
"I don't know my dad. I mean, I know him, but he left when I was like six years old. Married this woman, had more kids. He did this like every six years. Goes to a new city and starts a new family."
"He was setting franchises. My dad never went to college, so it was really important that I'd go."
"Sounds familiar."
"So I graduate, called him long distance and asked: "Dad, now what?", he says "Get a job"."
"Same here."
"When I turned twenty five, my yearly call again "Dad, now what?", he says "I don't know, get married!""
"I can't get married, I'm a thirty-year-old boy!"
"We're a generation of men raised by women. I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need."

Joe summed up my position pretty well w/r/t your first paragraph. The only thing I have to add is that people who possess empathy and critical thinking skills will be able to determine (to a limited extent) what happens if they do x, y, and z. Of course you're right in that there is no formula for a perfect relationship - if there was, we would simply be automatons. However, there are certain "dos and don'ts" that have been proven to work in almost all cases, and it stems from what Joe was saying about taking a dominant but still caring position.

Again, I'm not trying to put you down; I just think that discussions of fate should be separated from discussions of human relations and left to those who truly believe in it.

>> mmm....i think ur confusing urself!

it's a combination of both - destiny and fate ..and coincidences/ synchronicities! everyone has their own role/lines in this script called life!
hehe .. man, i'm just messing with you. don't get all serious. it's all open to a debate.

soo, hey, when's ur manual on 'Dating For Idiots' coming out?

Was that for me or Dan? The original was addressed to me, so I wasn't sure. Anyway, there are lots of books on this, some suck, some make sense, I'm sure a quick search on google or amazon will turn up many results.

If you choose to view as destiny and fate that's fine, but that's just one person's interpretation. Some (like me) tend to view it as very specific chains of action and reaction. I prefer to think that, for the most part, I have control over my own life.

That of course doesn't mean to say I spend 10 minutes thinking about everything I say or do before I do it - just means that, in my moments of reflection, I take a rational approach rather than a "faith"-based one.
