I'd be surprised if Ford DIDN'T rename Jag, Ford is much more of a global brand than Jaguar.

I think Da Matta is on his way back to CART or IRL

Apparently there is a new team that may enter for 2005, Max Mosley was saying that during press conferences earlier in the year when he was talking cost containment.

I'd like to see Nick Heidfeld in a better team, I think he is probably the most under rated driver in the field (it was Fisi until he got signed to Renault). He should compete against DC for the seats at BAR and Jaguar/Ford, he has age on his side.

Back on topic of Jacques Villeneuve. I've got to say that it would be in BAR's and JV's best interest if they rejoined. JV is an aggressive driver and he needs an aggressive and reliable car in order to rival Ferrari, and with advancements made by BAR this season, it would've been really fun to watch the 2004 with JV/JB duo. The only thing that would prevent such a mirracle is of course Dave Richards who has done absolutely nothing positive for BAR during his tenure. He has pushed JV away, and now JB as well!! It's time Dave Richards had been sacked! The ONLY positive thing he had done was to bring in Geoff Willis for the 2004 season and Geoff is the only reason why such an advancement had been done on the 006 BAR car. The 005 version was a disaster prior to Geoff's coming to BAR.

DAVE RICHARDS HAS GO TO GO! BRING BACK VILLENEUVE!!!

Not sure if posted already:

Jaguar confirms they are leaving Formula One at end of season.

"Jaguar to Leave Formula 1 Racing" from Formula1.com

"Jaguar's presence in Formula One has been a valuable marketing and brand awareness platform particularly outside our main markets of the US and the UK, said Joe Greenwell, chairman of Jaguar Cars. However it was our collective view that it is time for Jaguar Cars to focus 100% on our core business.

After a thorough review over many months Ford Motor Company has decided it can no longer make a compelling business case for any of its brands to compete in Formula One.

Having reached this decision our focus has turned to securing the best future for our Formula One businesses and our employees in these businesses going forward. We are therefore putting our Formula One businesses up for sale.

Ford Vice-President Richard Parry-Jones, the man in charge of Jaguars Formula One operations, told news agency Reuters that a number of potential buyers had already expressed interest.

Jaguar came into the sport in 2000 after taking over the Stewart team. Since then they have seen only limited success and currently lie seventh in the 2004 constructors championship standings.

The sale of Cosworth could also have a major impact on the Minardi and Jordan teams, both of whom are powered by the companys engines. Minardi recently announced a deal to continue use of their V10s for the 2005 season.

Interesting, I must admit I am surprised, I thought Ford would stay in, at most renaming the team to Ford.

I agree, I also think that Jordan & Minardi only have years to go until they decide not to race anymore. What then only 14 cars?

Need some Russian billionaires to come into F1

Posted by mute79 on Sep-18-2004 00:07:

there is a new team coming to F1 next season, though it hasn't yet been announced which...

anyways, all focus no is on Shanghai...

i say again

GO BAR GO!!!!!!

I heard some speculations that Lotus will re-enter F1

Posted by Trance Nutter on Sep-19-2004 10:13:

Speculation is at the moment Jaguar will be replaced by Arden Motorsport (a Formula 3 or 3000 team, I can't remember which) or some other group (who I can't believe I have forgotten, someone fairly large).

Rumour also has it if JB is released from BAR, Coulthard has the seat, deal done apparently. If JB is not released, who knows?

Bugger, I can't believe I forgot who the new team may be, any Aussies who saw RPM today can you help me out?

looks like Bernie wants to have the big teams running three cars

Posted by InterMilan31 on Sep-19-2004 18:12:

GO BAR? GO RENAULT!!!

Also I havent gotten the full story on this is Trulli done for Renault now and is Jaques going to race for them these finale 3 races?? Sort of how Sato did for BAR last year I think?

I heard the same too... As a BAR fan, I'm not sure if I should be happy to hear the "DC coming to BAR" news... I really don't like this dude as a driver... gah...

As for Jag/Ford issue, I also heard that domino effect will take place and that Minari and Jordan will also fall out of F1 at the end of next season, and it looks like 7 teams will be running 3 cars each...

Very interesting grid, MS 19th due to a spin on qualifying lap. This gives a good chance to Button and Raikonnen for 1st place.

interesting grid

weird circuit btw, that first bend is crazy

Posted by Trance Nutter on Sep-26-2004 05:04:

I really like the look of the track actually. It seems to be a return to the flowing tracks that used to exist rather than the stop-go tracks we are used to today.

Posted by jp on Sep-26-2004 06:49:

Interesting race so far. Too bad Schumi went backwards, but I'm sure he will end up in the top 8. Rubens is doing a great job

Edit: Schumi has a flat tire. Must be his unluckiest weekend ever

i agree, long corners are good, but some of these seem to last forever...

we've seen some good racing though.. nothing too spectacular, but the GP was nice. well deserved victory for Rubens Barrichello.

Posted by jon on Sep-26-2004 20:48:

I think the fact that each corner sequence went from a left hand turn to a right hand turn (or vica versa) made for some really intresting racing, shame the grip on the tramac was so good, aperently after a year or two the tarmac grip should reduce alot so making it slower for the cards incorners (well thats what ITV said (UK TV))

Posted by Trance Nutter on Sep-27-2004 07:43:

Yeah, the first/middle section of the track had some really good flow, with corners that changed radius and then changes of directions etc, great track. Part of me wishes that the hairpin at the end of the loooooooooooooooooooong straight was tighter though, make it a real 180 turn, maybe narrow down the exit a bit too.
The Australian V8 Supercar championship is going to China to race next year, its gonna be great racing with them (a super competitive series) using that great track.

The race Sunday was pretty good, good battles right through the field, plenty of drama (the bingles at that hairpin). Gotta feel sorry for Christian Klien having to retire while MSC (i think) continued on no probs. Not a bad effort by Villeneuve considering his lack of race time in the past 12 months, but really he probably should have gone a bit better.

Posted by mute79 on Sep-30-2004 21:32:

Honda is gonna supply BAR with a "Suzuka Special" package (a motor with more revs and a new aero-package), in a bid to score first place on home turf in Japan!!

GO BAR!!!!!!!!

Posted by Trance Nutter on Oct-01-2004 14:25:

Huge news here:

Jarno Trulli to drive for Toyota in Japan and Brazil.

He will race with Panis in Japan, but for Brazil Panis will step aside, allowing Zonta to race in his home GP. Ryan Briscoe will be third driver for both events.

Its thought giving Trulli the drive will help Toyota jump in front of Jaguar in the constructors championship.

Posted by Trance Nutter on Oct-01-2004 14:47:

^^
And if you thought that was big news

THIS IS FARKING HUGE NEWS!!!

Britain is expected to NOT host a Formula 1 GP possibly starting next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some sources say they can't afford the fees demanded by FOM, just heard it on our sports news show, they had a snippet with Jackie Stewart saying (paraphrasing) "you can't blame us cos we don't own the license, and we aren't the promotors".

Other sources say that the state of the track and facilities are not up to scratch and is why its being dropped. Bernie has reportedly said that it is a country fair masquerading as an international event. Stirling Moss (paraphrased) - "this would be a big shame for motorsport not only in Britain but worldwide"

lol, the term F1 "circus" is to be taken literally from now on... what has happened this year with drivers constantly disappearing from the scene and switching seats?!

and yeah, it's a real shame Silverstone has been scrapped off the calendar, that was a great circuit.
