hooray for the mets bullpen again! i love stanton and franco. i want to be just like them when i grow up...
btw, had to change the sig sal. this was just TOO good to pass up!

here are some very interesting yankee numbers:
in 2005, they already owe 11 players $181 million.
in 2006, they owe 8 players $137 million.
in 2007, they owe 4 players $84 million.
in 2008, they owe 3 players $67 million.
to put that in perspective, the closest team is the red sox, who in 2005 owe 8 players - $78 million. the # of players is rough because there are some (like roger clemens) who are owed 1 million here and there. i only listed the players who are making a LARGE some of money. derek jeter and a-rod are signed till 2010. granted, the a-rod contract wasn't their doing... but they took it. now, i'm not saying jeter is gonna pull a giambi and just be terrible, but why would you sign a player for that long of a contract. my favorite yankee contract, though, is giambi's. every year his numbers get worse and worse... yet his salary keeps going up and up. 2007 - $21 million. 2008 - $22 million. i dunno about you, but $22 million for a DH who can barely DH seems a little silly to me. interesting site though...

YOU LEAVE MY BABY ALONE!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
yours and 65,436,537 other females.
i'm just jealous cause he's not a met (at least that's what everyone always tells me)
i wonder if a-rod was on ny females' radar when he was in seattle and texas

the mets have lost major steam since the break... les expos??!?!?! come on u fucktards!!!
yeah man.. its embarassing. fucking ENDY CHAVEZ!!! he is the worst player in the majors!
on another note... the dodgers offered a RIDICULOUS package to the dbacks for randy johnson. Guillermo Mota, Jayson Werth, and two psospects Chad Billingsley & Chuck Tiffany. tiffany sucks... but billingsley is NICE! but guess what? rj said no. what a DICK! he only wants to go to the yankees!
my friend said "the mets should offer reyes, wright, scott kazmir, matt peterson, and tom glavine (paying his entire salary)." rj will say no and it will make him look like such an asshole. and if he says yes, we just say "we were only kidding." hahaha! man... i just don't see how the dbacks can justify trading johnson to the yanks for dioner navarro, robinson cano, and eric duncan. i'll likely eat it though.

| Originally posted by trunks1022 please, let's do a steve phillips-type trade. i always look forward to five dollar upper deck reserved seats in september. u know why? cuz that means i can go to fucking loge level without being asked any questions. on a related note, i wish the mets had more ticket specials a la the yankees (5 dollar tiered seating on a regular basis in the bronx). i mean... the yankees are perennial winners, they don't need any ticket deals to fill up the seats there. yet they still have specials. the mets on the other hand, haven't fielded a legitimate contender in about 4 years, yet their ticket specials are kinda stale in comparison. yeah there's some deals upcoming in august, but i've seen more games in the bronx than i have in flushing so far this year. baseball is baseball. cheap baseball is even better. |

| Originally posted by Shamez214 well at least you live in queens you ******! i have to travel for 2 and a half hours to see the mets. and you do realize that if steve phillips was our gm, wright, reyes, kazmir, peterson, and likely wigginton, + other minor leaguers, would all be gone. in their place would be beltran, soriano, garcia, and possibly benson. ughh... thank god for duquette. but i am getting more and more excited at the idea of signing benson in the off season. he was touted as 'the next nolan ryan' coming out of college and the minors. needless to say, he never achieved his potential. BUT... we have the king in rick peterson. and benson has said that he wants to play in ny for peterson. not to mention that it could help his wife's modeling career. plus... we may get to see more of her at shea! |
ex-fucking-actly. we dumped erickson, so no more lisa guerrero. we need benson to fill our 'hot player wife' quota.

well... here we go. i think i'm gonna start rooting for the braves.
after a whole year of Duquette saying that he will not 'sell the farm,' he did just that. Ty Wigginton, Matt Peterson, Jose Diaz, Justin Huber, and Scott Kazmir are ALLLLLLLLLL gone. and what do we have to show for it? Kris Benson and Victor Zambrano. this is really ridiculous. rick peterson better work fucking MIRACLES with both of them... i dont even know what to say... im stunned. we should've just traded reyes for soriano in the begining of the year. if this is the direction we're going in, might as well go all out. ughhh... its gonna be a long time before i turn up at shea again.
umm... albert pujols.
2001 - .329, 37 homers, 110 runs, 130 rbis
2002 - .314, 34 homers, 118 runs, 127 rbis
2003 - .359, 43 homers, 137 runs, 124 rbis
2004 - .323, 30 homers, 89 runs, 75 rbis (obviously this year isn't finished)
yeah... we're looking at the next ELITE player right there. not great player. we're not talking your run of the mill thome's, or nomar's, or jeter's... we're talking the next bonds. when bonds is done, pujols is more than ready to step up and take over his role. he was the first person in history to reach .300 avg, 30 homers, 100 rbis, and 100 runs in his first three seasons. and guess what? he's going to do it again this year. 11 more runs and 25 more runs batted in. and he has 20 months to do it. this kid is fantastic. he will be in the top three hitter category once bonds is gone (arguably could be in it now, but i still put vlad at #3, manny # 2.) pujols will be about 26 or 27 by then. he'll definitely be the best by then. if there were ANY hitter i could take knowing he'd be with my team for 5 or more years, he'd be it. (pitcher would likely be ben sheets cause prior gets injured too much). he's going to be a legend. of course this is all bearing that he continues to put up these numbers. but... he IS only 24. so theres no reason to believe that he won't (barring injury).
Holy Highmay the Cardinals have such a squad now it's ridiculous...
Tony Womack
Ray Lankford
Albert Pujols
Jim Edmonds
Larry Walker
Scott Rolen
Edgar Renteria
Mike Matheny
my god what a lineup....
forgetting Reggie Sanders?
but i think besides the yankees, the cubs have the best 5 man lineup in the majors.
Nomar
Alou
Sosa
Lee
Ramirez
though the cardinals definitely have the best 3 man lineup...
Pujols
Edmonds
Rolen
closest would be:
Abreu
Thome
Burrell
omg the mets break my heart!
