Urs Meier is a cheat no question, hes completely disgraced himself tonight. We defended bravely, and then scored from a free kick on the counter but it was thieved from us shockingly by Urs Meier.

I don't think we should have defended so deep sesond half tho, we just couldn't get hold of it properly in midfield and were pumping it up to owen and vassel when one of them should have come deep, so many tired legs out there tho. No england players can take any blame 2nite - penalties are SO cruel. Devastated for becks.

He had a lot of poor decisions during Czech Republic - Holland as well.. we were robbed of a penalty amongst other things :/

Oh well. I agree Ashley Cole kicked ass, by the way. Ronaldo was invisible during most of the match thanks to him.

Even though I'm Danish, and have no special feelings for either team, my heart was doing 150 bpm during the penalty shootout. Too bad there had to be a loser, but great entertainment nonetheless

Yeah, Nuno Valente was the one that was supposed to score that kick, but Ricardo got there, Scolari let him try... and now he's a hero.

it was fantastic rather for the emotion than the game itself to be fair. but it was something special. and portugal definitely played better than england during the whole game, they did have a couple of chances but were reduced to their deffence during pretty much the whole 120 minutes, apart from a bit of the extra time

about that disallowed goal, i drank too much beer to make a fair judge on that but i've always heard you simply can't touch the keeper in the 'small area' or it's a faul. but apart from this specific play i didn't see anything else that the ref might have done wrong, so don't blame it on him now... speaks the voice of experience, everyone remembers when we were put out of euro2000 with abel xavier's hand, right? at that moment the entire country would behead the ref right there, but the next day we all realised that he was actually right so let's wait for tomorrow

anyway, it's time to party! and to beat the swedes

Sorry but the replays straight after showed there was no contact whatsoever, campbell jumps on john terry to nod it in and terry himself is not in contact with the keeper. Ricardo falls to the ground when he sees the ball in the net and the ref who was unsited disalows the goal based on this.

Portugal should thank their lucky stars. They don't deserve to win. England does. They beat them in 89th minute everybody saw it. You just don't want to admit that it was a bad call.

It's a shame this had to go all the way to the pk's. Portugal totally dominated the game with more possesion, more shots, and less fouls during the regular time. England got that early goal.. and thats all they had. Its true that after that goal they became defensive minded, however, its more due to the fact that they didnt have any answers for the Portugese attack. It was an entertaining game though. Lampard saved the English when it counted, good man. Portugal deserves the win though.

Again you miss my point. The fact is goalkeeprs are over protected in every competition in the world, if you lay a hand on the keeper as terry did then he will always get the benefit of the doubt.

I never once said that this is fair, I just said that 8/10 times the same decision would have been made imo.

England were outplayed so I don't know where you get your point that portugal never deserved it.
